@rothaic I dont completely agree with that statement... While some carp, like the bigheads and silvers are invasive, common carp CAN (not always) be great for the watershed they are located. They are also, at least for me, a great game fish for bowfisherman and in my case fly fishing! dont throw every carp up on the bank! relocate em! Thats what i do if they are in a watershed that they are harming... Tight lines!

Carp safety in England is only a priority because your carp fishing is big business & owners of pay lakes don't want their money makers damaged because they want the carp to be re-caught by paying customers - it has absolutely nothing to do with the welfare of fish, it's just about maintaining a product for profit.
In the U.S. carp are an invasive species & are pushing out native species such as bass & walleye.. No one pays to fish for carp here.
If UKers were interested in the welfare of carp there wouldn't be countless pics & videos online of you guys dragging carp out of the water by a hook you put in their mouth & putting your hands all over them (thereby damaging the carp's slime-coat making them susceptible to disease) while you pose for numerous silly pics of you kissing the damn fish.
If you were really interested in the welfare of carp you wouldn't sport fish for them at all but would leave them alone.

The correct words are "than" not "then", "through" not " threw", it isn't a dart, it's an arrow and it kills this fish almost instantly & humanely. However, damaging the fish's slime-coat as you silly Brits do with your comical lovemaking to the carp guarantees that the fish will die a slow painful death from disease during the next month after it is released.
The last fish was killed almost instantly, the others probably died within a minute or two. I've done this type of bow-fishing before and the carp die pretty quickly with an arrow through them. I then clean the fish and eat them rather than just throw the carp back to die a slow death as you do.
I fish for food; you fish only to get sadistic enjoyment out of hooking a fish and dragging it to shore - and yet you claim to have a concern about the safety of the carp.
If you are really interested in the humane treatment of carp why do you hook them in the mouth & drag them up on shore only to release them after taking a useless picture? You torture dumb animals for no other reason but your own entertainment & then try to pretend you have a humanitarian interest in these fish. Many carp die after you release them - not only from slime-coat damage but from lactic acid buildup caused by the fight that you enjoy so much - do the research.

@hooflung yeah we get 'em in australia, in victoria its a $1000 fine for returning them, and in new south wales (even though they are labeled a pest) its only discouraged that you return them. this causes huge debates with the carp fishos from europe that fish in nsw. we don't really eat them here as they are terrible compared to our natives and are usually found in shit water but they make exelent furtaliser for the garden or bait for crayfish and/or crabs.

i live in hamilton ontario canada to me carp are vermin! the've had to remove thousands of those 30lb swimming rats to attempt to clean cootes paradise at the western end of lake ontario and there are still hundereds more we eat them due to pollution and it's illegal to let them spoil result no really thinks of them as anything but garbage!

fishing's fishing; no matter if u bowfish or use a rod to catch fish your still gonna eating it when its all said and done; i dont really know why you all give a shit on how they're caught cause that DONT really matter since the fish is gonna die anyway;

Here's the real facts...
Carp safety in England is only a priority because your carp fishing is big business & owners of pay lakes don't want their money makers damaged because they want the carp to be re-caught by paying customers - it has absolutely nothing to do with the welfare of fish, it's just about maintaining a product for profit.
In the U.S. carp are an invasive species & are pushing out native species such as bass & walleye.. No one pays to fish for carp here.

If UKers were interested in the welfare of carp there wouldn't be countless pics & videos online of you guys dragging carp out of the water by a hook you put in their mouth & putting your hands all over them (thereby damaging the carp's slime-coat making them susceptible to disease) while you pose for numerous silly pics of you kissing the damn fish.
If you were really interested in the welfare of carp you wouldn't sport fish for them at all but would leave them alone.

The correct words are "than" not "then", "through" not " threw", it isn't a dart, it's an arrow and it kills this fish almost instantly & humanely. However, damaging the fish's slime-coat as you silly Brits do with your comical lovemaking to the carp guarantees that the fish will die a slow painful death from disease during the next month after it is released.

The last fish was killed almost instantly, the others probably died within a minute or two. I've done this type of bow-fishing before and the carp die pretty quickly with an arrow through them. I then clean the fish and eat them rather than just throw the carp back to die a slow death as you do.
I fish for food; you fish only to get sadistic enjoyment out of hooking a fish and dragging it to shore - and yet you claim to have a concern about the safety of the carp.

If you are really interested in the humane treatment of carp why do you hook them in the mouth & drag them up on shore only to release them after taking a useless picture? You torture dumb animals for no other reason but your own entertainment & then try to pretend you have a humanitarian interest in these fish. Many carp die after you release them - not only from slime-coat damage but from lactic acid buildup caused by the fight that you enjoy so much - do the research.

Go read the rest of my posts - I bow-fish for carp and have killed hundreds. The point to my final post was that a UK carp fisherman was trying to act morally superior for catching carp on a rod & reel as opposed to a bow...go find his post and give him grief practicing catch and release with carp.

Does anyone other than americans realize these are invasive species and we do not want them in the ecosystem because they are destroying other fishes NATURAL habitats. Yes i will admit carp does taste good so long as it lived in a very clean lake.

@hooflung yeah we get 'em in australia, in victoria its a $1000 fine for returning them, and in new south wales (even though they are labeled a pest) its only discouraged that you return them. this causes huge debates with the carp fishos from europe that fish in nsw. we don't really eat them here as they are terrible compared to our natives and are usually found in shit water but they make exelent furtaliser for the garden or bait for crayfish and/or crabs.

@rosscoman86 Yeah exactly. There's nothing wrong with killing an invasive species. From my experience if carp is prepared right it actually taste pretty decent. Also I definitely agree with the fertilizer my tomatoes came in pretty good last year. Its not like every body wastes carps.
