  • you guys are fucking retarded that jason douche cant compare to this, she made this fucking song idiots. its better as the original and not bastardized like that shitty rnb song. goddamn little kids gotta get the fuck off the radio stations and start listening to REAL MUSIC

  • @unclepalo You really dont have a taste in music..... Sorry but thats true...

  • Angelic Voice

  • better as original

  • WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOW now i understand why there are comments in jason derulo's watcha say video saying that it is a remix of this soooong! I LOVE THIS NOW more than watchasay! maazing voice and i love her!

  • budget limited

  • @Bugz0013 Indeed, but I think it fits the song well, the simplicity of the music video fits the minimalist feel of the song.

  • its a catchy song, too much gimmics though. Everything comes from feeling. There's no base or fundamental. And no counterpoint.

  • @WellyPheonix Imogen Heap wrote this song in 2005 Jason the Homo who works under Imogens label released his song in 2009, sorry dude but that is basic math.

  • Comment removed

  • copy of jason derulo at the end??

  • jason copied her!@WellyPheonix

  • @nffa2 nah She copied Jason Deeerulloo

  • @WellyPheonix

    idiot -.-

  • @DJuriTV Cock Sucking Gypsy

  • @WellyPheonix no she didn't. Jason copied her.

  • @WellyPheonix jason copied her. =,= idiot.

  • @WellyPheonix not really.

  • @WellyPheonix He still didn't give credit.

  • @WellyPheonix jason derulo sampled her song. this is HER SONG. he gets some bits of it.

  • @WellyPheonix oh my goodness, u fuckin idiot

  • @WellyPheonix excuse me are you deaf and don't like the video clip

  • @WellyPheonix jason derulo would be nowhere if she never wrote this... troll...

  • me too, it's a bit scary and gives you goosebumps but when you hear her voice it's like an angelical tune or some sort of pleasant tune. :)

  • its her voice.....it may be enhanced but its very similar when its not enhanced...you can search the live version of hide and seek and see for yourself..

  • @welchkylie still.. amazing.

  • i love her... wish i had her voice... hehe... :)

  • that's not her voice, that's computer generated

  • she is an amazing singer

  • It's a sensitive and innovative song.

  • when t pain uses autotune its bad, but imogen heap can make it gold

  • Awesome, awesome song! A classic...

  • i don't think this is a bad video at all. in fact i liked how they chose to keep it simple. They could have made it fancier but by focusing on just the singer, we can feel each refrain as she sings it. the lightning play and Imogen's expressions conveys alot of emotion as well. felt it has a spaceship girl quality to it, which i guess kinda suits the electronic feel of the altered voice.

  • funeral music

  • I heard this song before that remix came out. i remember looking up CJ's death from "Dawn of the Dead" and this song come up when i first heard it.

  • apearantly they used this song as a sample for the song whatcha say by jason derulo?

  • yea... the middle of the song is the same as the chorus.

  • haha its kinda wierd hearing whatcha say now lol

  • this is original..whatcha say just using the chorus :D

  • mind you she is not the first to use faze vocals check out Laurie Anderson o superman from the 1970s

  • For some reason, whenever i see someone getting shot on TV, i think of this song. :-)

  • Lmao, dunno why but that was funny :p

  • i was listening to this song way before the remix

back when SNL did a skit called Dear Sister with it. Its funny.

  • can't stop listening to this damn song! i love it. and sometimes when i hear it, it makes me cry. it connects to me sooo much at this point in my life. it's just something about it...fascinating piece of music.

  • This coming from a 'fist of ass' ?

    hahahahahahahahah

  • This song always manages to make me cry. I like the song Whatcha Say? by Jason Derulo, however, I don't like the fact that it uses a part of this song as it's chorus. Hide and Seek has a meaning and Jasons Whatcha Say takes it away and completely changes the meaning.

  • mmmmm watcha sayy...

    omg, i'm loving this.

  • thats the only part you like me too hahaha

  • hahaha well, all of it is pretty good but when i hear that part i'm like WOW :L

  • lmaooooooooooo thanx jason derulooo

  • umm my favorite part is 2:53 - 3:22

  • i like all these big comments :P awesome song

  • It's the little ones that get copied that upset me. Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek ripped off by some American Chap and some Woman named Ke$ha trying to sound like Uffie

  • I made the same connection between whoever Ke$ha is, trying to sound like Uffie.

  • Thank you, Jason Derulo for leading me to this wonderful piece of art. I own Frou Frou stuff and had no idea it was her song being sampled. They made her sound like Gwen Stefani, lol.

  • That isn't auto tune. It's a vocoder. It's set to about 50% dry hence her voice coming through clearly at some points. There's nothing auto about this. Someone was literally playing her voice through a keyboard while she was singing. "Harder better faster stronger by Daft Punk" is a perfect example of this.

  • @TyLiermann

She plays the vocoder while singing :D

  • @DollSarah Yeah. I watched a live version of this song and you're right. And it's not easy at all. To use a vocoder properly you still have to be in tune.

  • @TyLiermann You're getting vocoders and autotuners mixed up. An autotuner will snap your voice to the nearest pitch, so you need to be generally in tune. A vocoder uses a carrier (vocals) and a modulator (synth) and will only put out what notes you play, or programme it to put out.

This song, and a lot of Laurie Anderson songs, show how to properly use a vocoder.

  • what she is using is called the Harmony Engine by antares whick also makes the Auto Tune program .....

  • She looks fucking hot as hell in this video. But in person, not so much.

  • I love 2:44.

  • Jesus man...2:38-2:43...it's amazing how she can go so high pitched without sounding bad. Without her voice giving out. And how she can do it so easily from low-pitch to high-pitch...this woman is so gifted with such an angelic voice it's almost scary. Not many of her songs are like this, but when she really shows how good her voice truly is in songs like this, it sends shivers down my spine.

  • It's called Auto-tune. Youtube it

  • I know what auto-tune is, but I'm not talking about the background sound behind her voice. I'm talking about when she went very high pitched, which was sheer talent. Watch some of her live studio sessions. She can fluctuate her voie pretty much any way she desires, not many people have that talent. Thats why I posted the time, between 2:38-2:43...when her voice goes EXTREMELY high pitched. That was not any sort of audio-synch.

  • @Ch4oTiK Your comments is so beautiful!! She sing so beautiful!!

  • Comment removed

  • Um...except no. Moron. =/

  • well not really

they used that part for the song Watcha Say

    but it's not her

I dont even think she got credit, which sucks

  • it is her in that song they just made it a little faster

  • 2:52 Brandon Boyer.

  • I love this song. I have just discovered it, but I like the reference it makes to the Holocaust led by Hitler

  • A reference to Hitler?

  • People say that. It could be, but I doubt it. She usually sings about melencholy situations of not belonging or thinking about things too much, breakups, wallflowers, etc. etc. so this coul be a very symbolic means of saying "I'm different, and I feel as if I have to hide" in a way. The beauty about her music is that it appeals to many people in different ways. So I say if it is a reference to Hitler in your openion, then that's what it is. It is whatever you make it out to be.

  • in according to me it is very particular. I love it because it remember to me some moments. the fact is that it haven't music so or you like it or completely dislike it.

sorry for my english, i'm italian ;)

  • ok. Ha. Well, i didn't listen to the whole song.

  • (hide and seek) ransom notes keep falling out your mouth mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs (hide and seek) speak no feeling no I don't believe you you don't care a bit, you don't care a (you don't care a) bit (hide and seek) oh no, you don't care a bit oh no, you don't care a bit They don't care at all about the Jews, or any other people they were discriminant against. Of course, this may not be right at all, but it all fits in perfectly right? Sorry this is so long! (:
  • Mmmm whatcha say,

    ect.

Hitler and the Nazi's believed its for the best, but its obviously not.

ransom notes keep falling out your mouth

mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut outs

speak no feeling no I don't believe you

    you don't care a bit

Open ended promises and false ideas are being sent from the Nazi's. Little pieces of conversation is heard.

  • oily marks appear on walls

where pleasure moments hung before the takeover,

the sweeping insensitivity of this still life

The takeover of the Nazi's have marked them forever.

    hide and seek

trains and sewing machines (oh, you won't catch me around here)

    blood and tears (hearts)

    they were here first

You won't catch me around here because they want to get out of the area. Blood and tears, self explanatory.

  • hide and seek

    trains and sewing machines

    all those years

    they were here first

Hiding from the horror if you're in annex's or something, seeking shelter. Trains because they were all stuffed in trains to be brought to the camps, and sewing machines I'm not sure about. They were here first, as in the Jews and anyone else discriminated against.

  • This song makes me think of the Holocaust. where are we? what the hell is going on? the dust has only just begun to form crop circles in the carpet sinking feeling spin me round again and rub my eyes, this can't be happening when busy streets a mess with people would stop to hold their heads heavy These lines are basically about the people in the camps, and the soldiers outside.
  • I found Imogen Heap thru Jason Derulo(singer), my credits to him. Same way I found "Dido" thru Eminem, "enya " thru the Fugees etc. I'm looking forward to discovering more wonderful artists like these thru smart sampling. cheers!!

  • to be honest, i seriously thought that Jason Derulo [NOT a rapper.. btw] made up that part of the song. damn i was wrong, not hating on this song either. this is just the first time i've heard it. this song is beautiful while Derulo's is just catchy.. i have to say though.. i do like them both. GUILTY. :P

  • 2:52

  • The other guy DID have some innovative musical ideas. Immi danced thru his whole set. But unfortunately, he doesn't have 1/10 the training or technique that Heap does, so those ideas were expressed quite sloppily.

3 times she stopped the show in the middle of a song, once out of concern for a fan who got ill/fell down in the front row (she's such a DEAR!), other times the sound engineer f**ked up, or the "band" just lost their place. She SOOOO deserves to be backed up by world class musicians

  • Saw her last night in SF. Immi was wonderful as usual, and was more into having a fun time with her band and fans. She sure deserves to relax and have fun after all the work she put into Ellipse.

Of the three people backing her up, only the woman cellist (Zoey-something) is an accomplished musician who is qualified to be on stage with Heap. The first opener, I'm sorry....the guy just plain sucked (you really don't need to tell the audience, "that was the ending" or, "This is the quiet part" !

  • Plus, the harmonies in the first section are SO Bach. She must've studied him.

  • beautiful....

  • she is really talented. she re-recorded her voice so she could layer it to make this amazing sound that was produced. that takes a lot of time and practice and patience. and its way better than jason derulo's version. but i like them both. (:

  • not to get technical but she used a a harmonizer xD

i think its hard to re-record her voice each time -_- so much work D:

  • I thought she was putting her voice thru a vocodor, then real time sampling it into the keyboard. The delay is so short that it sounds like real time. This is a masterful and innovative technique that opens a thousand doors for a creative artist. It's as if she's discovered a new instrument. She could do the same with cello or winds and have a quartet at her finger tips.

  • thats what she uses a vocodor :o i thought it was like a

harmonizer that she can use on the keyboard/guatiar thingy she has xD its nice though :D

  • this is such a good song and that stupid rapper ripped it off he ruined the whole entire song!! and he is getting all the credit for it. almost everyone who has heard that song thinks it was really his idea when it was imogen heaps idea! that rapper is such a bad artist he cant even come up with his own ideas!

  • Lol you don't have to be so mean about it.....Yeah the original's so much better but he's like a rapper and young she's like a proper musician...he might get there 1 day but I'm sure he enjoyed her song as well that's why he added it to his remix and his style of music.....It's not so bad.

And this song is also used in "What We Need" by Glasses Malone

  • i have to say i hate MOST of the song until 2:52. but nevertheless! im still super pissed about that stupid peice a crap rapper retard that took the song and f'd it all up!

  • 2:35

    Beautiful... :)

    2:52

    Classic! ^^

  • Pure emotion. <3

  • This song is REALLY growing on me... Its much better than that crap that sampled it...

  • Quando una canzone dice quello che sei e che vorresti che gli altri sapessero...

  • yup

  • i used to love this song and that dumb song has remix and shit with it and everyone thinks they know it. this is a really good song alone

  • mmm whacha say

  • 2:52 - 3:23 REALLY sticks out on this song, I think I'd feel the same way even if I hadn't heard Jason DeRulo's song first. That part of the song is just so amazing. There's a reason they wanted to sample it

  • it works better with the buildup before it though. In Derulo's song, it's kind of just there and it has little meaning. In the full song, it carries a powerful message.

  • Yea exactly. I heard it from Derulo's.....So I can't hate on it....Bc it's the chorus and that makes the whole song pretty much and it's even better after you hear the original.

  • She amy not be a Jen Hawkins but she is pretty and Her voice is amazing! This song is amazing! This song has many different meanings to alot of poeple not many songs can do that anymore most songs are about love and sex but this is about many more things.... Very Beautiful.

  • Everyone saying she's 'ugly' you blind?

Even if she was ugly, and i wasn't happily married, id marry her in a heartbeat just because she's so talented.

  • This song is so amazing, I'm into Metalcore but this song really heals my wounded soul, i feel protection when i hear it, feel it. save me, i need saved. You inconsiderate people have no care or compassion that is what the world is lacking these days. Passion is trust, desire is fire, lustful thoughts follow insanity. insensitive people are dime a dozen. I can feel the love potion in this music. thank you for creating such beauty.

  • @coolin7000 she doesn't look like a man, and if you think she does then why do you still wanna fuck? lol

  • if you strip away all the music of any song your left with this, and they still make it sound great, EXCELENT SONG!

  • Man, next to Eva Mendes Shes so beautiful...Her expresseion and the way she says the words just makes you wanna listen to her more and more....

My favorite part is how she says " of course you did" 2:59 and the way she points as if she was telling you somethin...very beautiful

  • This song is beautiful, creative, and original. If people can't accept that, then so be it, but don't hate because she's beautiful!

  • Ugh. Let me just say. This song is fine. She is very good with her range and control. Only reason why people hate it is because their is barely any harmony of multiple things. no drums or any other instrument.

  • This song is like life in its purest form.

  • Ugh, people only like and know this song for one part. This song is beautiful as a whole. O_O

  • welcome to the world.lol

  • This song honestly doesn't get remotely good until 2:50. Honestly.

  • if you think that then your a fucking idiot. the part before and after that are just as good. but lemme guess, you heard this song from that tool of an "artist" jason derulo right? wouldnt surprise me a bit.

  • umm... this is a bad song. i honestly dont like it.. but i cant blame people who do. i HONESTLY only like 2:50. the rest is just creepy.

  • Amazingly beautiful song. ALL of it. Not just that one part.

  • I found this song from the Dear Sister skit in SNL and loved it from the beginning. Im kida disappointed that Imogen Heap won't get any publicity or recognition from this song, now that the Jason Derulo song plays 24/7.

  • so did i like a couple of years ago and now no one even knows that this is a song its sad. btw that skit cracks me up lol

  • Thank god for the original of this song. It gets so tiresome to only hear the part they hear in Watcha Say sung by people. Especially since I know the whole song and can sing past couple lines >:(

  • 2:54 - 3:24 BEST PART!!!

  • I watched Cadegoestocollege - Only One Cade.

And I thought it was a man, but yerr, it's a good song.

  • this song is really good..

  • I just think that at least the new rap song should say ft. Imogen Heap.

  • @givefreehugs lmao new rap song?...what cave was you in...no offense...

  • uhh what?

  • Comment removed

  • Because it is the only good part of his song. LOL

  • dey ask permission first asses. she probly said it wuz ok for him to borrow that particular part retard

  • 2:50 is where Jason Derulo took the Whatcha Say

  • does anyone know what this song is about?? im not trying to be rude but honestly i do not understand this song.

  • Doh, will add that even though I never heard this song until after I heard Jason's. This is pretty strong and powerful for something I'm not used to. [=

  • Why you guys arguing over something stupid? They are both good in their own ways.
