Hm... You know I never really watched Jane Fonda stuff... mostly because i wasn't around for work, being 15. Though I'm a guy I really do understand what she's talking about with narcissistic parents. In some moments I find those selfish acts by parents disappointing and saddening however in others it is understandable. Emotions are strange things... ON 60 Minutes she was given an opportunity to apologize and refused. @fumetti Interesting how "that following orders shit" applied to German soldiers who massacred partisans and the inevitable innocent civilian, but mysteriously, it doesn't seem to apply to American soldiers who committed similar if not far worse crimes before, during, and after the second world war. Her comments brought the veterans and their families pain? Tough shit. War is war, atrocities are committed, and if you think that Americans are somehow exempt from the fray, think again...

We "bravely" invaded France in 1944, at a time when the Germans had next to no fuel, air power, artillery power, or man power. Wow, talk about bravery... If we were allowed to do what we needed to do in Vietnam, the war would have been over weeks after the Tet Offensive...even the Cong's generals said we were putting them to their knees until the Jane Fondas and acid rockers started speaking out and causing public support for the war to go south. Because we pulled out, Cambodia went communist and 1 million Kampucheans lost their lives.

@fumetti Our overall strategy = let the Soviets do all the fighting while we ship them supplies, then invade Europe and take a nice chunk of European real estate before the Soviets engulf everything. We should have never been in Vietnam to begin with, it was a local, complex territorial squabble that was made 100 times worse by our presence there. And as far as Cambodia goes, the major justification for Pol Pot coming to power was the huge anger caused by our bombing of that country...
