I would love to go to a rodeo! also would love to try Western riding. I think the biggest challenge would be adapting to holding the reins with one hand. Can anyone tell me, should you hold them with your strong hand? ie, your left if you're left-handed?

having watched this, I think things are about to change...

Question: are the top racers generally quarter horses or do you use any type

of small athletic horses?

@vrccb Generally we use any horse, any horse has the capability to run fast , but horses with less muscle and smaller are better for the job.

Actually no he didn't almost fall xDD He was turning wide and when they turn their hooves dig into the dirt. Since you barrel race you should know when a horse turns wide that is what happens ^^

so fyi...i've been riding horses for 15 years, competed in western and english for 7 of those years, placing at 2 state shows every year that i competed and i only quit bc i love barrel racing so much. plus, i've ran barrels for 8 years, placed and won at different state shows in georgia. not to mention i ran a 13.6 and got 5th at nbha youth world. i could go on, but i won't.
