  • I'd be sad if I first heard about this song on a TV Show in 2012.

I'd be far sadder if I've never heard it.

  • That Art Decade: Space Oddity, 1969, was at the beginning of time. Ashes To Ashes, 1979, was at the end of history. Somewhere in there, betwixt, are all the answers, given directly from the cosmos in purest undiluted form, from our best messenger and icon of the intended future promise: the covenant forseen, that the universe IS intelligent, kind, and ultimately cool.

  • 2 million more views than Rocket Man - this is a stunning victory for Mother Russia.

  • I was freaked out the first time I saw this video. Now I'm still freaked out, but that's why I love it. XD

  • *singing loudly...again...* THIS IS GROUND CONTROL TO MAJOR TOM! YOUVE REALLY MADE THE GRAAADE! AND THE PAPERS WANT TO KNOW WHOSE SHIRTS YOU WEAR! NOW ITS TIME TO LEAVE THE CAPSULE, IF YOU DARE!!

  • Friends

  • tim tebow to jesus christ

  • One of the top five vocalists in pop/rock music. I think the other four would have to be Roy Orbison, Don Mclean, Freddy Mercury, and definitely not least Jim Morrison.

  • It's Tebowie! :0)

  • AWESOME VID BRO

  • Makes me want to play MGS: Snake Eater kinda.... "Can you hear me, Major Tom?"

  • @841401 I read somewhere Kojima originally wanted this song to be the ending song for Snake Eater but he instead went for "Way to Fall"....

  • LADY'S AND GENTLEMEN DAVID FUCKING BOWIE!!!!!

  • @WARGAZM420 David Fucking Bowie? Is that even physically possible?

  • why are all the comments on this video like a paragraph lol

  • @penguinpunk611 Everyone's baked, lol

  • Thumbs up if Tebowie brought you here :)

  • great song to listen to while high

  • Remember, this came out the same year we first landed on the moon. Space travel was new. It was dangerous, experimental and had the nation & the world enthralled. It was a race between nations. Everyone was glued to their black & white TVs to watch things unfold live. The astronauts knew that they could easily die when they got strapped in before liftoff. Numerous unmanned attempts crashed and burned. The NASA astronauts were All-American heroes and our hearts were with them on each mission.

  • For those who like this video and David Bowie’s take on things, remember this was the psychedelic drug-induced late 60’s and early 70’s. I recommend three outstanding movies that exemplify how things were regarding space travel and the perception of the future during this time: 2001: A Space Odyssey , THE RIGHT STUFF, and APOLLO 13.

  • 1-18-12 Also...NATALIE MERCHANT does a really good Cover of this on her CD : LIVE in NYC. (Hard to Find). she has some other amazing Covers too. Brilliant singer!

  • The only law that can't be displaced, because it will ALWAYS serve: Love one another, even as I have loved you. Love your brother and your sister. Love your enemy and your friend. Love the way that things work if we all give each other a fair shake. Hate injustice, iniquity, intolerance. Only thing to fear is doubt of our own self-worth. We are worthy of forgiveness, life given by the highest being, not to hurt each other, but to find compassion in how we share our trials. One thinks much of us.

  • Authority will always lose because people are greater than their law. The law serves to serve mankind. Mankind must survive and prevail, partly because of, but if necessary, despite of, the law. Law is only a tool. If that tool fails to serve, then a new law needs to displace it.

  • People will always survive authority. I fought authority and authority lost.

  • RIP MAJOR TOM

    :(

  • @litojonny No he lived. He's the subject of some of Bowie's later songs, actually :D

  • this is such a simple video but it is so powerful!

  • I miss Bowie's 'Ziggy' days...

  • Now maybe this will switch from a hate-mongering flame war into a Rocksmith DLC discussion...

  • If u only know this song because your a Denver Broncos fan u should probably go fuck yourself.

  • Jimmy Fallon & Tim Tebowie brought me here

  • Planet earth is blue, and there's nothing i can do.

  • I like the Tebowie song more.

  • @LevelArtist tebowie wouldn't be here without space oddity

  • Why do so many people hate nice people??? Tebow is nothing but charitable and humble and everyone hates him. He stands for what he believes in and that is wrong in this country now? Who cares if he where's his religion on his sleeve, all these people that hate him for being Christian is scary...Kobe Bryant, Ben Roethlen-douche bag, in the news for sex assaults, Tom Brady leaves his 4 month pregnant girlfriend and these guys are great in your eyes. People are crazy.

  • @77pinstripe Clueless aren't you ? We hate him because he has the GALL and ignorance to think that some fairytale skydaddy is up there helping him win football games while ignoring the pleas of those who are much more deserving of attention...the sick, dying, starving, abused etc. Anyone who thinks some supernatural being would actually even give a rat's ass about something so superficial and selfish needs their head examined.

  • People are just pissed Fallon wrote an awesome parody. Shut up hating on people who haven't heard the Bowie version.

  • WOW here we go again, a fucking media act makes people come to the original artist who has nothing to do with the piece of shit. Seriously, if you guys just knew about this song because of Jimmy Fallon fuck you get off this page I have been a Bowie fan for 15 years and dumb kids start to recognize him because of some dumb media shit.

  • @vicken818911811 hahaha who gives a FUCK how long you have been a fan. Who gives a shit if thats how people get here. get over how "good" of a fan you are.

  • @vicken818911811 People like you are so ridiculous trying to control who watches this video. You don't control the internet you fucking moron!

  • mr. stardust people come on.

  • Who cares where people find the music from. All that matters ithat people are listening to good music

  • I learned this from Friends!

  • I learned this from Friends!

  • How could you not know this song?

  • @101Elric

Because most people that like Jimmy Fallon were born 30-40 years after this song came out....

  • @77pinstripe Like me, and I watch Jimmy Fallon, but Ive known this song as long as I could remember, it's such a classic.

  • The Challenger....remember them.

  • I knew of this song before Tebowie but my favorite is still China Girl.

  • Watched this before Tebowie, and Ive been a fan of David Bowie for a while now, but you have to admit, Jimmy Fallon's Tebowie is bad ass lol

  • Screw Tebowie, I learned this from Mr. Deeds!

  • I wonder how many views this video had before Jimmy Fallon made that Tebowie version....

  • WAS that a fart at 2:32

  • First twenty seconds is what makes this song great. Eerie atmosphere, military-style drumbeat.

  • @camcurtiss Sound mad bro

  • @camcurtiss

    Honest question, who's Jimmy Fallon?

  • @camcurtiss Yep, funny skit I'll give him that. But Fallon can go right ahead and eat a dick.

  • @camcurtiss Actually, we should be grateful to people like Jimmy Fallon. A lot of the younger generation have never been exposed to the great songs of the past, they aren't going to go looking for something if they don't know it exists. Thanks to Fallon's good taste in music, and using a parody to expose this generation to that music, a lot more people get to learn how great classic Bowie is. So thanks Jimmy, the young people needed some exposure to great music ^_^

  • @Hanamorichan I disagree.. It is up to us as parents to expose our children to great music, arts, literature, etc... Only then, will the greats live on to future generations... People these days are way too lazy.

  • @Hanamorichan 1-18-12 :O" DITTO!" Jimmy Fallon's take on this was & is Pure Comic Genius!" I'm hoping that DAVID BOWIE got to see what Jimmy Fallon did with the song & Parody. DAVID just turned '65' on Jan. 8th 2012. I wrote to Jimmy to send it to Him ...OR I will! :D PEACE!

  • @Hanamorichan I am one of those in the gen to which you are referring and I am the only person in my whole school who doesn't have a Facebook or twitter account. I laughed my ass off when i first saw Jimmy's take on "Tebowie". 50 views later i still do. This is a pretty cool song better than GaGa, bieber, or minaj's crap!

  • @Hanamorichan Some of us just listen to good music, we don't need that unfunny idiot to hear good music, however "good" is relative and completely subjective. Thinking that because you like it, makes it good is just the stupid ignorance that needs to be gone. I agree with your opinion that it's good music, but I don't agree that we need to assume everyone will think it's good or they're wrong. BTW most "Young people" to group us all up HATE Jimmy Fallon because his comedy is a lack of wit

  • @camcurtiss fuck off.

  • Comment removed

  • @camcurtiss no dought homey lol

  • @camcurtiss right, thumbs up if you liked the fallon one, but loved the original long before

  • @camcurtiss no thanks

  • @camcurtiss no you

  • hahaha

  • this is a great song, never seen the video until now though... or knew it existed. lol

<3 bowie. fuck tim tee-bow. soul soliciting pig fucker.

  • @MordecaiWalfish f#@k off a#@hole.tebow is a real christian and great example to kids what about you?

  • @tjon4565 If by "real Christian" you mean someone who exploits religion for personal gain; then you would be correct.

  • @LolliofTheArmy I've been under the impression for years that that WAS what a real christian did...have I been wrong?

  • @LolliofTheArmy You're very stupid. Tebow is about as genuine a believer as they come. If you don't like Christianity because you don't want to feel shame in unrepentant sinning, that's your problem. Stop pretending genuinely good people are fake or pompous just because you hate yourself.

  • @IWEEW And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by men. I tell you the truth, they have received their reward in full. Matthew 6:5

Me thinks you project too much. Public prayer is never about faith; it is about exhibition.

  • @tjon4565 Tim Tebow is a self-serving fairweather Christian, and a shitty quarterback as evidenced by the education he received last night under the tutelage of Tom Brady.

  • David Bowie brought me here .... long ago.

  • Ground fucking control to major fucking tom. You've really made the fucking grade.

  • mr. deeds.

  • tebowie brought me here

  • I came here because i love the song.....not tebowie.....

  • Have always been a fan of David Bowie's music. This was a monster hit for him back in the day. Thanks to Jimmy Fallon and his take on this great song of combining Tim Tebow a Professional Football Sports Icon and David Bowie a Rock & Roll Hall of Famer together. It now has become a classic spoof and will now take on a life of it's own as the hits keep coming and the numbers keep escalating.

  • Mr. Deeds brought me here, so HA!

  • Thank you Jimmy Fallon for teaching me who Tim Tebow is. I already knew David Bowie's seminal sci-fi ballad though.

  • such an amazing album

  • This song is so much better after listening to Tebowie.

  • tebowie got me here

  • I actually came to this video to listen to the original.

  • @laxsta627 Much respect, sir.

  • Tebowie brought me here :]

  • i was brought here because i like david bowie so suck my dick

  • Thanks Jimmy Fallon that was one of your greatest!

  • TeBowie brought me here. Thank you Jimmy Fallon.

  • This is ground control to Major Tom...

  • Same here.

    Tebowie.

  • Tebowie brought me here, too. I know the song, just had to see Bowie do it again.

    Love them both <3 Fallbowie!

  • Ground control to Major TOM.....I swear to god, Jimmy Fallon is a wicked comical geniuos!

no! ya ah! No! YOU AH!

  • "Tim Tebow to Jesus Christ"

  • This video is twice as popular thanks to Tebowie

  • David Bowie brought me here.

  • Regardless of his many personnas, Bowie has consistently been one weird dude. Made some great music over the years, including this one - 2 plus years before E. John's "Rocket Man."

  • I thought he was sooooo sexy when I was a kid!

  • I want to play Kerbal Space Program now

  • Got lost on youtube again. And for some odd reason the guy reminds me of Sting when he played in Dune.

  • No buddy could sing this quite like David Bowie

  • @RipnDip27 I wouldn't it's about a man who gets stranded in space.

  • A lack of substance in current music brought me here!

  • Te-Bow; Te-Bow. Linked here but liked this song from waaaay back. Great parody though.

  • great song

  • fuck tebowie.....mr. deeds brought me here

  • go tebowie. Leave this place , to the land of lombardi. And when you get there tell Jesus i said hi.

  • Tebowie.....lol, Bowie was hardcore though

  • Bowie was way ahead of the curve.

  • Tebowie

  • I <3 David Bowie!!!

  • This great song brought me here!

  • Te Bowie No Way The Old One Is Better.

+ Summer At Davidsfarm Had This Song On It.

  • It's a damn shame that it takes a parody for all y'all to know what you've been missing. If you look to the left, you will see that Nirvana didn't write "The Man Who Sold The World" as well! All that hope I had for the world disappeared when I read these comments...

  • @titan121173 Please the guy is clearly gay. TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

  • @titan121173

Not all of us are idiots dude. Bowie is a classic. The kids these days are just poorly educated. Give them a break. You should be happy that it gets Bowie out there more.

  • Thanks to Tebowie for reminding me what a great song this is!

  • Comment removed

  • Tim tebow to Jesus Christ......

  • This is Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow...

  • Dude your on your own Brady is to good and i have better things to do!

  • I've always loved this song. I love it that Fallon referenced it.

  • The video "Tebowie" brought my here! LOL

  • That's it I've decided, I am gonna grow my hair out like David Bowie and wear a shirt that says: "SHE KNOWS!!!!"

  • Yes Ground Control, I can hear you. Stop asking so many times.

    Sincerely, Major Tom.

  • Tebowie brought me here!

  • @tupaclives96 Great,no one gives a flying fuck.

  • @tupaclives96 lol now me too!

  • @tupaclives96 me too

  • @tupaclives96 .... me too ....lol Love it

  • @tupaclives96 yea me too lol people don't realize it yet comedians/net can help NFL get more viewers as well as tebow get more followers for those up in arms about fallon video. It was awesome in my opinion. Besides always appreciated Bowie's originality. So, win win!

  • Commencing countdown: Engines on! Time to fire it up. The spacecraft lofts into the atmosphere, then disengages from gravity's grip. Forget the program. At this point, we can remain in orbit or travel still outward. Universe beckons as our birth and destiny. As we pass by all our outstretched memories, stranded in space-time, we long for a future to connect with our past, to give reason for existence, further out, the existence of all history, from the first moonwatcher to the last man standing.

  • Thank you jimmy fallon for the funny song!!

  • Love this song :DDD and Ziggy Stardust my favorites!

  • Awesome song

  • Simply beautiful words about of living life. A Musical Philosophy at its best.

  • (Start from 3rd post down)

'Changes' looking for Major Tom. Thanks David, you will always rock!

  • @TheWorldAwakeningTV Keep, rockin' man. My story is very similar. Worked a dead end job for 3 years. Got laid off a year ago. A month later I had a breakdown because of the weight of my sudden freedom. A few months ago I started feeling less depressed. I feel good today, and hope to be making music into my golden years.

  • listening to this song on the radio for the very first time! I quit my job the next day, moved to Sedona, Arizona, and began playing music again all over the state. 'Began to re-visit spiritual experiences I had as a child, and still have on occasion. I have had a recording studio for years, 150 songs copyrighted, and even though I'm an 'old man' now I still play and sing constantly and am still gigging. 'Just decided to re-learn this tune, Changes, and Starman. I certainly went through some....

  • @TheWorldAwakeningTV that's awsome.

  • This is no joke: All my life I have written music and had bands, when this song came out I was 21 years old selling insurance in Missouri, and had been for over a year and really getting tired of it, feeling like I was missing my life being in strange, lonely places in the country for weeks at a time. I was driving around a very large hill in the evening and the sun had mostly gone down, but then I rounded the hill and the most beautiful Sunset I ever saw smacked me in the face, and I was....

  • You see when you give this song a listen after smoking a funny cigarette you get the raw emotion going on in each new part

  • @Gothorochimaru I highly recommend it, and most classic rock, with funny cigarettes.

  • I tried making myself a frosty when I got home, but it just wasn't the same.

  • ... i have no idea why people ever stop listening to him, ever for a moment <3

  • David Bowie is one of the best and im only a 13 year old saying this!!!

  • I feel that a nuclear explosion in the Midle East will conform them to my will

  • great song!!

  • I guess Bowie really did invent punk.

  • Song rocks, but this video sucks

  • I do what they always do in the movies, you know when they lip sync Bowie with the makeup from the Aladdin Sane cover.

  • @davidsawyermusic I'm with you buddy, descending as we speak

  • happy birthday

  • Happy 65th birthday, Bowie. You rock even at old age.

  • Happy Birthday David Bowie!

  • this is the music thats going to play when I go to space

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY

  • Happy Birthday, David Bowie.

  • HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!

  • Happy, happy Birthday Bowie!!!

  • Happy 65th birthday David!

  • Happy Birthday Bowie!!!!!

  • happy birthday david i was born on july 14th 1969 i first saw this video in the late 70s

  • thumbs up if you're here becaue of lady gaga(: #Happy65thBirthDayDavidBowie♥

  • Happy 65th Birthday David :D

  • Always on the cuttin' edge - God Bless you, David Bowie!

  • happy 65th birthday

  • On this show "Twisted, but True..." there's a true story about Italian guys listening to shortwave in the '60s, I think, and apparently heard a distressing broadcast of a Russian cosmonaut when they knew one was going up into space at that time. They heard another freaking out another time. Anyway, I think Bowie would have made a good classical singer as evidenced when he sang the Labyrinth songs, this one, and The Little Drummer Boy with Bing Crosby. I think.

  • i wonder why so many dislike this song
