Aloha's demise is a great tragedy but not an unexpected one. The airline has been on shaky financial ground since the late 1960s and it is amazing that the strength of its employees kept it running this long with the enormous burden of debt the airline carried.
But with the deminishing number of people flying between the islands I think the market will soon be reduced to only one interisland carrier.
