Unfortunatelly they are christians.... good musician believing in that segregationist bizarre unreal thing.Better believe in santa claus, whe doesnt demand you to love him before all things.
I hate christian metal, but this song shows that if Divinefire wrote non-religious lyrics they could be great. This is a brilliant cover; it really highlights the emotion of the original, especially in the chorus, and the guitar solo is very well done. Drop the christian bullshit, and Divinefire could be very successful!
I disagree with Androids, ur opinion has no value. This version is heavier, and plus it gives you 3 singers, this is what heavy metallers want in a cover. I don't think Divinefire tried to copy whatever is on the queen tape, this is a true Divinefire song if u listen to their albums. It's because of this song that i found Queen. Truly a masterpiece of cover.
Awesome band, but it's practically impossible to perform this song better than freddie himself. It's the story of HIS life, and no one could ever sing it with so much passion as himself.
This is one of the more original female voice cover of "the Show".. I like it very much, great voce...!
I've tried to make a very short cover by my own.. I'll be very happy to receive some advices, since you all seems to be more ecxperienced than mine...
Everybody has an opinion about whether is something is good or not. Here's an idea how about not trying to study a song/cover and just enjoy it for what it is. I mean its ridiculous! The other day i saw people arguing on one of impending doom's forums and people were arguing about how heavy they are. It seems people just got to find something wrong with a song/topic and break apart. Seriously just enjoy something for what it isLife is too short to to argue about whether something is good or bad.
@Androids1000 Although I like metal, and you're entitled to youir opinion, this doesn't even come close to matching the original. It is devoid of all the soul and emotion that Queen created, no doubt aided by the reflections of a dying man.
Her voice is definitely heavily autotuned in parts, but does it matter? With the outrageous notes she's hitting I'm not surprised it was needed here and there. Still a very impressive vocal.
@BiffoGooner That's true, she has an amazing voice and I'm very sorry if I implied otherwise. It's just surprising that they'd leave such obvious autotuning, considering how good she is, and considering that the most obviously autotuned part is not one of the difficult ones. I have no doubt she would've been able to sing that part without the autotune.
@smilesslovesyou BS.THE HELKER VERSION IS BETTER AND THE METALLIUM IS BETTER.BUT THE JEFF SCOTT SOTO IS WAY BETTER.THIS SONG IS NOT ABOUT SCREAMING IN ANGER.THIS IS A SLOW TEMPO THE MUSIC IS WAY OUT OF TEMPO.THE ESSCENCE OF THE SONG IS BROKEN HERE.
@masterpatric07 That's why it's a cover. This is what bands do when they wish to perform someone else's song in their own style of play. Therefore deciding on who covers the song best depends on how well the bend uses their own style in the song. I think all of the bands mentioned cover this song very well for how they wanted it done.
The obvious autotune in 'Hold the line, does anybody want to take it anymore' completely ruined it for me. This is a studio recording, if they can only get her voice to work by using an autotune so glaring that even I'd notice it, then there's something really wrong with her singing.
It sounds great otherwise, but that part in particualar just destroyed this whole cover for me.
@IronyBeaver And you say this on what authority? I clearly hear the sharp bend in the pitch she's singing.
Listen closely when she sings the word 'want'. If that's not autotuned, then she's a robot. There's no way a person can make a pitch bend like that.
It's really a shame. I wrote the comment before I listened to the song in its entirety - a big mistake on my part. The girl can sing, I'm sorry I insinuated otherwise. But that particular part is autotuned. Maybe they caught the mistake late.
@IronyBeaver You're mistaking what autotune is. Autotune is simply a means to correct the pitch after a singer sings their part. It's usually really small stuff, like only a small part of the whole phrase that's just SLIGHTLY off-key. Trust me, as a recording artist, I know that there's barely a singer anymore, who doesn't use autotune at LEAST a little bit.
To be fair, I understand the misconstrual, because with guys like T-Pain out there, people think Autotune makes people's voices robotic.
@SexRobotOfDoom Auto-tune is used very frequently by pretty much every singer on the planet. I realize that in the public eye auto-tuned vocals sound like T-Pain and the 'Autotune the news' guys, but that's not really correct. Auto-tune, when used as it's supposed to be used, is very hard to notice. It usually just corrects places where the pitch is just slightly off.
The place in the song I mentioned has a very sharp change of pitch from one perfect tone to another - too sharp to be possible.
@SexRobotOfDoom I'm not sure I can, but I'll try. You know how someone tries to sing something and they can't, it's not just that their voice sounds bad, but the thing they're singing just doesn't sound right? That means they're off-pitch. Pitch is the frequency of the soundwaves that they produce. Every tone has a set frequency. When the singer doesn't get the frequency right, it sounds bad. No one is immune to being off-pitch, it happens to the even the best singers. (cont)
@Articorse (cont) Autotune is normally used in studio recordings where the singer has recorded his vocals very well, but is just a little bit off-pitch in one or two places. Normally you can't tell just by listening, since the corrections are very small.
That being said, autotune can also be used to turn speech into singing, though it sounds robotic. And no, growls and screams don't normally have a set pitch, so it's pointless to autotune them.
I don't know why, but I simply refuse to believe these lyrics were penned by Brian May. They have a very " Freddie-esque " vibe to them. This is also one of the best Queen covers I've ever heard.
@sexychrisb I can understand. But I'm sure that @ the point this song was written, Brian had spent so much time around Freddie, he could tailor his writing for Freddie...

@Articorse I'm sorry, but ...what?
I've spent years listening to metal and I've never even considered the fact that auto-tune was used here.
I listened to her say "want" a few times and I can't really separate the thing you refer to as auto-tune.
Please enlighten me, for I have no musical education nor do I have the genetic predisposition of hearing in great detail.
This dumbfounded me... I'd really like to learn more.
