sure, the flashy attacks and epic sounds make the battles awesome. but it cannot be compared to the fun you get while playing monster hunter... it has much more depth. :D
i think this game is fun in its own right it has some features that mh should have and at the same time it has features that are more refined in mh so i feel like each game is its thnigs its better at than the other. obviously mh is bigger but u never know the true value of a game till you play it for yourself
How do the Ai companions work exactly? Do their stats scale with yours? Can you upgrade or customize them in any way? Any general info is appreciated, having a full party of AI buddies is the main thing this game seems to offer that monster hunter didn't.
@Stonecat92 the AI works with specific behaviors. You can only control them through the Command function. No, they can't be customized but wide array of NPC's you can choose from depending on your strategy. And, it is not revolving on Allied missions. Some missions are taken without ally. Aslo, the Avatar Cards here became useful, since on MH they are only statistics of the characters. Here you can actually take them on mission. Also the Bullet Editor here rocks. MH doesn't have it.
Also, they're strengths are fixed to moderate sooo, what weapon they are using is on a very high level. Some of them have only moderate level. And even if you finished it all they're strengths are still the same. However, this shows that, in the beginning they show that they are veteran Gods Eater than you with powerful equipments on their side.
So in the 3rd mission at the beginning of the game with Landow or what ever his name is, this fucking boss was there, and i died like 15 times is that normal?

I just gotta say that I love this game. The story is amazing and the fighting style really gets you working~ I hate using the gun, though. Guess i'm just more of a swordswoman. Also, this is not a rip off of Monster Hunter. In fact, the only similarity between them is the fighting style and that they're both on psp. I haven't played Monster Hunter myself, but i've watched my friend play it, and, truthfully, I don't see what's so great about. I can't understand the appeal of a game with no story.

Maybe it's the satisfaction of taking down a dragon that took you 10 minutes to kill (which, compared to other games, is a damn long time), or perhaps finishing an armor set with that uber-rare rathalos plate, but something just keeps you going and going and going.
@Zahaele Well, unfortuantely, it's not the kind of game I can get addicted to. I have to have a good story to get into a game. The amazing fighting style is just another plus for God Eater. The art style in MH isn't really my thing either. I understand what you're saying about the satisfaction of killing a monster that took a long time to kill, though. Like when I defeated a Vajra for the first time in God Eater, I was so happy. Of course, now, they're insanely easy to beat, but still enjoyable.

i actually think this is on par with monster hunter, monster hunter has: better detail and design, more polished, better encvironments, more variety in monsters and quests. BUT gods eater does have much faster gameplay

It can't be ripoff you know. There's a prequel to this game, and the game was based off the manga, so I don't know how they can "copy" MH when they were making the game off a manga. If it was a ripoff, the it'd be a standalone game but it's not.
It's a Monster Hunter lookalike. That's a given. But that's what makes it good- it has story and a different genre to Monster Hunter. It's faster, and more down to earth.
Yes, this game does look like a Monster Hunter clone but still it looks great. Monster Hunter is a great game but lacks story wise. Gods Eater Burst looks like a fast paced hack n' slash game. I'm actually going to download this game right now. It looks promising. Not to mention the action seems to be more intense then Monster Hunter (and I'm a die hard Monster Hunter fan).

@Narutobleep Actually I've played and finished both 100% and one thing I can say... You can't compare Dissidia to this. They are entirely Different, I won't argue with the fact that Dissidia's graphics may be better but as what according the gameplay, you just can't compare them, meaning I find some things I liked in Dissidia and some things I liked in this game. Not to mention that this game actually lets you play with 3 friends Co-op. Dissidia only allows VS also this game has consumables in.
@Narutobleep It would be much more awesome though if in this game they let you put more then 8 modules in bullet creator... I just figured this out and totally went down... And one other thing.. Dissidia's storyline isn't as nearly good as this, and yes, I'm talking about Duodecim, not the first one. The first Dissidia didn't have even a storyline, and if you add up the little storyline from 012 you get just a few... This game though has a proper storyline.

@MKplayer. Focus on one monster at a time, if more come up, try getting your guys to split up and each of you take one monster, I think there's a command that makes them do that, but not leave the vicinity, scatter maybe? Other than that your weapons sound good, work those devour things into your combos, and consider taking the control unit that lets you see HP in burst, so you know which one to focus down. Other than that, smoke lots of weed when you play, it's what I do. xD
When i played monster hunter 3 on PSP, its lost the excitement of the original monster hunter, but when i played this game I got the excitement back, im not comparing this to MH or Lord of Arcana or Phantasy Star, this game is just unique!
Definitely not better than MH. Not by a longshot. However, in playing it, I never actually considered judging it BASED on comparing it to MH but rather based on a game in the same genre as it. Thus, I enjoy it on a personal level without much regard to how well it actually fares compared to MH which, granted, it doesn't, but again, I can tell it wasn't exactly trying to 1-up MH but rather broaden the genre. Where Lord of Arcana failed on that all-around, this one succeeded by stil being fun.
Even the characters look younger than the characters of MH. It's as if Gods Eater is set in the same universe as MH only 1000 years after MH's time. Over time, kids got lazier with killing monsters due to better technology. A true hunter will always be a monster hunter. Not a god eater
I'm quite stuck at Difficulty 7=Story/Mission 33. Fightng Chi-You, Fallen Chi-You, Vajra at the same time. Location=Train Railway. Forgot my weapons but I'm using Long and Short Sword (DIVINE,BLAZE,FREEZE) 1st target "was" FC-Y then the Vajra then C-Y. Give me some pointers please.....
I gotta say, I dont enjoy MH, at all, but when I played this, I loved every moment, still do. Monster hunt has no finesse, no style, no over the top anything, its all practical and bland and the whole tribal winter thing is kinda boring looking to me, I would much rather play a game with stylish gameplay that plays smoothly over the clunkyness of monster hunter.
@ReasonForNo i disagree with you, monster hunter is awesome! you can choose from many different weapons and fight many different monsters not only that but you get a little companion which you dont get in god eater and there are special stronger versions of the monsters to where they add a + onto there names and then you can get even cooler +armor :) theres so much you can do in monster hunter and so much more equiptment to have fun experimenting with than god eater :) thats my opinion anyway.

@pezaroo1234 True, but with GEB, you sometimes have to solo a mission, sometimes a 2 man run, and sometimes you can choose how many companions you want. and GEB also has + equips, you'll get them from the evolved "fallen" species. And you also have to experiment in what blade at which spot is the enemy's weakness when in normal and enraged mode. And you need tactics if you run in a 4v4 like dispersing from eachother and hide.

@avtar4efa Also elemental bullets to what enemy, and editing the bullet so that it hit the opponent on any angle, or make bullets track opponent or make bombs traps, eat an Aragami, change to gun form then fire a bullet in mid-air, disperse everyone when battling against 4 Aragamis, Restoration post so NPC just walk over to be healed, piercing healing bullet, Dress up without worrying about the stats, Battling a huge Aragami, Exchange function. this was all the advantage of Gods Eater.

@ReasonForNo No. While I enjoyed this game probably as much as you, as a form of competition for MH, it simply DOESN'T compete. MH is an all-around FAR more in-dpeth, skill-based, and properly structured game of this kind. Even the actual combat's targeting system of this game only saves it from being nearly unplayable compared to MH's, which bases itself far more on idisyncrasy. A lack of smoothness in MH is the result of a player's lack of any comprehension for it's deeper mechanics.

i mean you focus on killing the first one then the other suddenly attacks you from behind even thought you order your team to disperse, the duo would still chase one of my team...so annoying >=T
@seraphim018 I take it you're fairly early in the game? Later you have to fight a Borg Camlann and 2 Kongous at once, and you also at one point have to fight 4 Kongous at a time.
Can some tell me if this is like monster hunter you know where you can do a quest infinte amount of times and rank up and get harder boss like does this game every really end cause of MHU i had ovver 300 hours of gameplay would this have length like that?
@akeemification Difficulty 6 is a Cakewalk in my opinion. Great game though. Better than Monster Hunter for me (until a better game than Tri comes out).
it's like a mixture of phantasy star and MH ,and in 4 days game play time 20 hours like that can get to difficult 7 XD but still a good game and also tiring like playing MH

There are tons of other games like final fantasy but they don't call it the final fantasy clone. Basically it falls in the categories of adventure/action/rpg. Like God of war and Devil may cry or Dante's inferno. They basically have similar game plays.

@Narutobleep Actually I've played and finished both 100% and one thing I can say... You can't compare Dissidia to this. They are entirely Different, I won't argue with the fact that Dissidia's graphics may be better but as what according the gameplay, you just can't compare them, meaning I find some things I liked in Dissidia and some things I liked in this game. Not to mention that this game actually lets you play with 3 friends Co-op. Dissidia only allows VS also this game has consumables in.

@Narutobleep It would be much more awesome though if in this game they let you put more then 8 modules in bullet creator... I just figured this out and totally went down... And one other thing.. Dissidia's storyline isn't as nearly good as this, and yes, I'm talking about Duodecim, not the first one. The first Dissidia didn't have even a storyline, and if you add up the little storyline from 012 you get just a few... This game though has a proper storyline.

@MKplayer. Focus on one monster at a time, if more come up, try getting your guys to split up and each of you take one monster, I think there's a command that makes them do that, but not leave the vicinity, scatter maybe? Other than that your weapons sound good, work those devour things into your combos, and consider taking the control unit that lets you see HP in burst, so you know which one to focus down. Other than that, smoke lots of weed when you play, it's what I do. xD

When i played monster hunter 3 on PSP, its lost the excitement of the original monster hunter, but when i played this game I got the excitement back, im not comparing this to MH or Lord of Arcana or Phantasy Star, this game is just unique!

Definitely not better than MH. Not by a longshot. However, in playing it, I never actually considered judging it BASED on comparing it to MH but rather based on a game in the same genre as it. Thus, I enjoy it on a personal level without much regard to how well it actually fares compared to MH which, granted, it doesn't, but again, I can tell it wasn't exactly trying to 1-up MH but rather broaden the genre. Where Lord of Arcana failed on that all-around, this one succeeded by stil being fun.

Gods eater is the noob version of MH.
Even the characters look younger than the characters of MH. It's as if Gods Eater is set in the same universe as MH only 1000 years after MH's time. Over time, kids got lazier with killing monsters due to better technology. A true hunter will always be a monster hunter. Not a god eater

I'm quite stuck at Difficulty 7=Story/Mission 33. Fightng Chi-You, Fallen Chi-You, Vajra at the same time. Location=Train Railway. Forgot my weapons but I'm using Long and Short Sword (DIVINE,BLAZE,FREEZE) 1st target "was" FC-Y then the Vajra then C-Y. Give me some pointers please.....

I gotta say, I dont enjoy MH, at all, but when I played this, I loved every moment, still do. Monster hunt has no finesse, no style, no over the top anything, its all practical and bland and the whole tribal winter thing is kinda boring looking to me, I would much rather play a game with stylish gameplay that plays smoothly over the clunkyness of monster hunter.

@ReasonForNo i disagree with you, monster hunter is awesome! you can choose from many different weapons and fight many different monsters not only that but you get a little companion which you dont get in god eater and there are special stronger versions of the monsters to where they add a + onto there names and then you can get even cooler +armor :) theres so much you can do in monster hunter and so much more equiptment to have fun experimenting with than god eater :) thats my opinion anyway.

@pezaroo1234 True, but with GEB, you sometimes have to solo a mission, sometimes a 2 man run, and sometimes you can choose how many companions you want. and GEB also has + equips, you'll get them from the evolved "fallen" species. And you also have to experiment in what blade at which spot is the enemy's weakness when in normal and enraged mode. And you need tactics if you run in a 4v4 like dispersing from eachother and hide.

@avtar4efa Also elemental bullets to what enemy, and editing the bullet so that it hit the opponent on any angle, or make bullets track opponent or make bombs traps, eat an Aragami, change to gun form then fire a bullet in mid-air, disperse everyone when battling against 4 Aragamis, Restoration post so NPC just walk over to be healed, piercing healing bullet, Dress up without worrying about the stats, Battling a huge Aragami, Exchange function. this was all the advantage of Gods Eater.

@ReasonForNo No. While I enjoyed this game probably as much as you, as a form of competition for MH, it simply DOESN'T compete. MH is an all-around FAR more in-dpeth, skill-based, and properly structured game of this kind. Even the actual combat's targeting system of this game only saves it from being nearly unplayable compared to MH's, which bases itself far more on idisyncrasy. A lack of smoothness in MH is the result of a player's lack of any comprehension for it's deeper mechanics.

i mean you focus on killing the first one then the other suddenly attacks you from behind even thought you order your team to disperse, the duo would still chase one of my team...so annoying >=T

@seraphim018 I take it you're fairly early in the game? Later you have to fight a Borg Camlann and 2 Kongous at once, and you also at one point have to fight 4 Kongous at a time.

The ones you mentioned are basic aragami so I've already surpassed them thought

@Hyozon All PSP adventure rpg games are like monster hunter. So why does everyone call "it" the monster hunter clone. Like Lord of Arcana or God eater Burst. There are tons of other games like final fantasy but they don't call it the final fantasy clone. Basically it falls in the categories of adventure/action/rpg. Like God of war and Devil may cry or Dante's inferno. They basically have similar game plays.
