  • Soooo... Tom Cruise is pretty small.

Where the hell did they get a horse that looks normal next to him?

  • I love this movie so much !! <3 And this ending is so sad..

  • One of best movies of all times, for sure.

  • I love this ending so much...I can't even find the words to describe it.

  • This film crossed with the seven samurai would be an epic greatest movie ever made on all proportions

  • i felt that it would've more epic if Cruise's character killed himself at the end, as mentioned in the code thus really showing the viewers that he had truly become one of them.

  • @BitzRitz1988 damn that would have been epic..have the same music playing with him putting a blade in his stomach..you had one of the best ideas ive ever read

  • brilliant heart felt ending to a great movie! one of my favorites

  • this movie is beautiful and the music a master peice, i think we all cry to see it end.

  • One of cruises best movies ever

  • Truely a awesome epic movie!

  • ''the peace we all seek and few of us find'' fucking epic

  • are there any samurai in the 20th century if there are not i'll be very sad

  • i saw this ending recently and started to feel emotional. i was really blown away. the film is a lot deeper than i remembered

  • This ending is as good as that of Dance with Wolves and The last Mohican

  • Somehow, every time I rewatch this movie, Zimmer's score just becomes more and more powerful, especially in this scene. Such a brilliant movie. Easily Tom Cruise's best performance to date, tied along with Collateral :)

  • =.= this is some ending

white guy has the nerve to return to the village after he leads all the real men to their death

  • You think this movie has a nice ending? Have you actually ever seen a better one?

  • im always getting goosebumps at this scene

  • Amazing film.

  • tom cruise looks so peaceful in this scene

  • Tom Cruise = Brilliant Actor

    Hans Zimmer = Music Prodigy

The Last Samurai = Fantastic film...

    Agreed?

  • @Usman0611 100% agree

  • @Usman0611 I have rated 1226 movies and have written 268. Amidst all of those features, this movie scores high on my top 10.

  • @Usman0611 It's too bad the inception of the original Last Samurai script was plagiarized by Tom Cruise's agency for profit. I mean whoever stole this brilliant but poor script writer's work should come out and admit their mistake like a true man. Some narcissistic people think if they have fame/big money/power they can do anything to the point that no one can stop them. Well, some people, in the near future, will prove those greedy insecure ones wrong.

  • one of the few movies that made me cry. anyone else?

  • @notdemocratic yes this is the only movie i ever watced that made me cry. am not even talking about a tear my eyes were red and the kleenix box was half empty. incredible film

  • @HotPocketsBoy im 100% agree with you

  • @notdemocratic I am a 37 year old man and it was on TV tonight. I had already seen it before but it made me cry and it always does so there you go ;)

  • @blade004 im 18 im a guy it does the same...only movie that ever has

  • @ahoplite it does the same to me too

  • Hans Zimmer, the Best componist i´ve ever seen and heard.

  • @Genma237 lol componist? no such thing

  • for a thousand years they protects us.. be in the rain of blood, the tempests of gods.. or, in the blossoms of the cherry blossom trees..

  • @teddythebenny VERY beautifully said

  • @WhiteLioness100 .. beauty is a matter of perspective, much like everything else in the world. ..japanese history is frankly, too bloody to be admired, whats most amusing, is that even the gods have abandoned this country in this modern age.. after protecting it for ten's of thousands of year.. ~_*

  • @teddythebenny You have a point there, you are very wise

  • @WhiteLioness100 ... tanks. cept im as much as flawed as anyone else in the world.. people afterall love to talk.. and do nothing.

  • That quote "Id like to think he found that small measure of peace that we all seek, but few of us ever find is my favorite quote ever

  • Is this really how the samurais got wiped out? or is it just a movie. I honestly can't tell if its based on a true story, it feels so real to me. lol

  • @david000009 Yes, Katsumoto is based on a real-life Japanese samurai named Saigō Takamori, who rebelled against the Japanese government in 1876, and who died along with several hundred of his followers in a climactic battle where they were outnumbered 60-1 and died charging the Imperial Army. Not all of the samurai were part of the rebellion, but about 20,000 died in the war. That said, there are many differences between the movie and what really happened.

  • @david000009

Need to study up a bit do we XD

It's complex, they took some real characters and conflicts and fashioned a movie out of it.

Definitely a nice ending here, the samurai may be gone but never forgotten, you still see so much influence of them on so much.

  • Awwww...

  • What a great ending. Especially Tom Cruise's look is haunting as the screen fades to black. Powerful and beautiful scene.

  • i listen to this song while doing my homework in the library, it soothes my mind, and takes me away from all the mess in my life, thank you hans zimmer for making my life a little easier.

  • Fantastic movie, one of my all time favorites, great ending for my boy Nathan Algren.

  • beautiful closure

  • I kinda wanted the emperor to take that dudes head off. lol, i mean, that sounds dark and morbid, but the man wouldn't shut up, and was a big antagonist throughout the film

  • Other than Glory, Edward Zwick's best movie ever tremendously underrated

  • "But I like to think, he may have at last found some small measure of peace that we all seek, and few of us ever find..." Goosebumps, one of the best ending dialogues i've ever seen. Epic movie, lots of respect.

  • I thought the last samurai was Nathan?

im pretty sure im right haha

  • This movie is great, but the ending sucks!!! tom cruise almost never die in his movies!! arrogant motherfucker!

  • @kondurperusix

what the fck are u talking about, it is a perfect ending

  • One of my favourite movies, beautiful music by hans zimmer. The look on toms face at the end is just priceless

  • Katsumodo is the last samurai.

  • this is one of my favorite movies. it has so much emotion. it really makes you feel youre there

  • Thank you!

  • What is music name??

  • Hans Zimmer - A Small Measure of Peace

  • But at the and it's A way of Life, isn't it?

  • @rolymotonagykoros A Small Measure of Peace

  • this is an absolutely beautiful movie, the landscape, the people, the friendship between Nathan and the Samurais.....

the love between the two, those look into the eyes and the tensions, are absolutely romantic and mesmerizing, and are million times better than some sex scenes.

  • At the end of the movie Nathan algrea (tom cruise) he is the last samurai

  • I disagree. I believe Katsumodo was the titular last samurai. :)

  • oh ok then

  • BUt at the end all the samurai are were killed in the war he's the only one that survived so he must be the last samurai

  • Or the last "Samurai" is used as plural -- Katsumodo and his men are all the last samurai.

  • i love this movie. Its sad how things went. But this is the ONLY movie to make me cry. And the end with him coming back. I love it!!! ANd I love the sond they play.

  • Thanks for reply. I dunno why he gets a hard time Tom, hes alright.

  • ''And so the days of the Samurai had ended. Nations, like men, it is sometimes said, have their own destiny. As for the American Captain, no one knows what became of him. Some say that he died of his wounds. Others, that he returned to his own country. But I like to think he may have at last found some small measure of peace, that we all seek, and few of us ever find.''

  • I agree with you ClassyGuitarist its a fantastic ending and also romantic i think :) its one of my favorite film endings along with Shawshank Redemption when they meet on the beach.

Its all about the score really, Hans Zimmer i think but its good acting as well of course but without such a score it wouldn't be much.

  • oh yea thats right... same ending type... LS is epic

  • @barbican08 couldn't of put it better myself i think this the shawshank redemption and vanilla sky are three of the best endings to a film ive ever seen and no small part to there scores and songs

  • #1 MOVIE OF ALL TIME!!!!

  • agree my best movie tooo

  • THANK YOU!!!!(I'M WEEPING RITE NOW)

  • But i like to think he may have atleast found some small measure of peace wich we all seek and few of use ever find.

I hope to find that small measure of peace some day, i really hope soo. As for this movie one of my favourites great story great acting unbelievable music wich perfectly perfectly matches the film. it just seems to give you a feeling that i cannot describe. just great!

  • I know what you mean, i have the soundtrack and i can't listen to it enough because it takes me back to the film. it's the kind of film you want there somehow to be more of, to be transported back into it, but all you can do is rewatch, so that's what i do do :) The music brings tears to my eyes at more than one point in the film. I just want to be him, in that time, living in the village amongst samurai, learning from them. and the way it ends is achingly beautiful, one of my favourite films...

  • I see what both of you mean. Its true that many search for at least a small measurement and very few of us ever find without dying to look for it. i, for one, am in luv with this movie because it meant something that all of us seem to never understand. Peace is meant to the very person that has fought for it to the best of his or her ability to find it. And, i don't mean fight in a war and die. I mean fight in life, seeking what your looking for in your definition of peace.

  • And, i know all of us can find it. This movie brings tears to my eyes every time i watch it because it shows what these people would push beyond their limits to show them that they are proud of their lifestyle and it hurts to see people die because they disagree. And the end, it shows that if you try enough, you'll find the exact meaning of peace in front of you. GOD, how i luv this movie. makes me cry.

  • Yeah, he has been through so much and was haunted so that he had to drink and was going down a road of self destruction. But then he finds something (by accident) that he loves and it gave him a new perspective of life and how he thought of people (whereas before: "for $500 a month i'll kill whoever you want") and he almost dies helping them in an impossible fight to the death. He found something he believes in and cherished and is completely set free by it. He finds the life he wants...

  • I know. He has been through so much and is haunted so much that he has to drink and is on a downward spiral of appathetic self-destruction. But then he finds something which he loves (accidentally) and it gives him a new perspective of life and people (whereas before: "for $500 a month i'll kill whoever you want") He finds something he believes in and loves so much that he almost dies fighting an impossible battle alongside them. He finds peace in the end and can live in his own way... so nice

  • an absolutely amazing scene...great

  • gets me everytime

  • easily one of the greatest movie endings ever!

  • pearl harbour

  • twisted kinda humor you got huh

  • I like the ending too. Along with that beautiful music in the background. Thanks for posting this scene up.

  • Thank you so much for posting this. What a beautiful ending.

  • haha i havent evn seen this yet and i love it

  • I think this is a nice ending too. I like the narration, music, how they look at each other at the end (no words), the fade to black. Good.
