  • Who watched the whole thing?

  • So now Mirrors do not show me how i really look ?

  • I really look up to Bill Gates. He is a genius in computers.

  • Bill Gates is my hero

  • BG innovated in his time, but his notions of computing in the future are based on past use cases. Even at the time of this speech he didn't seem to realize that the amazon kindle was ushering in a new computing paradigm. "A computer IN every desk.."

  • Gates is a one of the great modern men but did he just come from a disco?

  • Just amazing!

  • Lol at the personal trainer. :D Bills awesome.

  • this is like.. comedy all of a sudden

  • I can't compare Bill to any Techno-Business giant. He himself is a pillar like Newton is in Science.

  • i love bill..he is a great role model for humanity...yes in bill we are blessed.

  • i love bill....and what he has done to humanity via technology...a

role model for all of us.

  • Lol bill rly needs to work on his uhhs and umms. other than that, definitely sexy as they said!

  • Bill is a tall boy.

  • BOYCOTT TUCSON AZ THEY KILLED MY DOG SUKI ON 1/5/2011

  • he is a genius like brothers Wrights or Thomas Edison

  • He says nothing about living in a just, free society where government derives its just powers from the consent of the governed. It's all about computers driving entertainment. Not good.

  • im sorry bill. But that sucked! And no offence i use windows and alot of microsoft programs, but the fact is you guys are bugged. Alot of bugs 2 much crashes. And like any microsoft product even Xbox fails with its red ring of fire. Seriusly fix bugs and crashes and make programs by prossesing power then we can fully experience microsofts products.

  • ASIANS ARE TAKING OVER!!!!!

  • @assark0182 YEAH BUY THEY FUCKING SUCK!

  • ...the challenge today and in the future is to keep big corporations from knowing to much about you and your children....the CEOs got enough money already....

  • ....at 0:21:50 bill talks about that it will be wonderful if what you are interested in will be shown on the device you use....well... don´t ever look on what the french call "blue movies" on your girlfriends PC...

  • @phantomscolts2 hense why dollar stores make the most profit. But they sell their junk for a dollar, if windows is on the same level why can't I buy it at the dollar store.

  • Gates is a true gentleman unlike Jobs.

  • @muzammilali007 So True.

  • lol discussions (comments)

  • Mark seems to be a very stuck up douche

  • Why so many Windows haters? The BSOD jokes were pretty funny 10 years ago. If you want broad compatibility and ease of use, both Windows (especially) and Macs are good options. Windows 7 is not the archaic, ugly and unresponsive OS that many people try and paint it as. Ive been operating 7 since its release and have had ZERO system stability issues, with the exception of one BSOD which was due to bad RAM. Mac users are stuck in a closed circuit with hardware, but some people like it that way.

  • Bill Clinton?? ... NO Other Bill!)))))

  • dam!!!!!!! Asain audience.. smart people, kool!

  • @thisisnotyours1 So funny how you spelled wrong asian twice...

  • dam!!!!!!!!!! Asain audience..

  • The money Bill Gates uses in his so-called philanthropic endeavors is effectively stolen money. He's used his monopoly of the desktop OS to overcharge customers, and sell them lousy OSes. Microsoft avoids paying tax wherever possible - it takes from society, but it doesn't want to give back to society. Windows 7 is sold without any documentation - such is the greed of Microsoft.

  • @jakeZaks2012 , my friend , that's called business . what this dude did is legal . it may not be that ethical but still legal :P

  • @jakeZaks2012 It's not lousy? Go to a computer store, buy all the parts yourself, put the computer together. Now, buy windows 7, and buy mac OS X. Now install Windows 7, play around, then reformat and put Mac OS X on it. I doubt you'll get it to install let alone work once it's installed.

  • @workman845, I have Windows 7 installed on a PC. Internet Explorer keeps crashing for no reason. Once you fill up your "favorites list", IE takes, what seems like hours, before the dialog box appears allowing you to add another favorite item.

And the ONLY reason Windows 7's behavior doesn't bring down the whole operating system - the reason it's more stable now - is thanks to Intel & AMD's microprocessors, which prevent programs from crashing the whole system via virtual memory management.

  • @workman845, the "aero" interface that everyone loves in Windows 7 is thanks to advanced graphic chips, again, the hardware, NOT the software.

Yes, for consumers, Windows 7 is now tolerable, but it's taken 30 years for Microsoft to get to this point. Windows 7 comes with NO DOCUMENTATION, though, our money into Microsoft's investors' pockets.

OpenGL is better than DirectX for programmers - you can write less code to get the same effect, and it's an open standard NOT proprietary.

  • @workman845, there's many aspects to an operating system that ordinary users don't care about, but can make all the difference to programmers, and to the applications you use.

Bill Gates has NEVER written an OS in his life. He bought QDOS, effectively a clone of CP/M, written by Gary Kildall, who was much, much smarter than Gates.

You don't know what you've missed because you've NEVER had an alternative, that's the problem!

30 years and hundreds of billions of our money for Windows 7!

  • @workman845, and Microsoft has historically played dirty. It's now restricted the retail license for Windows 7 to just ONE PC, whereas before you could install it on three home computers.

Microsoft wanted to disable Windows 7 retail after you had installed it more than two times on two separate machines, having disabled the previous copies - that's THEFT! It's your software! You should be able to install it as many times as you want, just so long as you only ever run one copy.

  • @workman845, & maybe you're not aware of a sneaky little update from Microsoft - KB971033. If you haven't already downloaded it, don't!

It contacts Microsoft EVERY 90 days for as long as you use Windows 7. Every 90 days it validates your copy of Windows by analysing certain system files on your PC. But it's YOUR copy! You bought it! So you should own it! Microsoft should have no right to check up on you every 90 days. Piracy is THEIR problem, NOT yours!

You can block it with your firewall.

  • @workman845, Microsoft is a massive tax dodger, doing all it can to avoid paying tax. It takes from society, but dare anyone take from Microsoft. We can't check what MS is getting up to, tax-wise, but Microsoft wants to check EVERY one of us EVERY 90 days, to ensure our copy of Windows is legitimate.

Microsoft was going to make KB971033 mandatory, but outrage in the US forced Microsoft to make the update optional.

  • @workman845, finally, you're a consumer, and consumers aren't too demanding, but large businesses and others require very professional operating systems. Given that Microsoft has had so much money to invest in its OS - it handed $32 billion to its investors at one point because the money was just sitting in the bank doing nothing - it's a scandal that MS hasn't produced a first-rate operating system that even a computer scientist would love.

MS C++ compiler is first-rate, though.

  • @jakeZaks2012 haha I love at the end of that whole thing, C++ compiler is first-rate. There are many other first-rate applications they've made besides Visual Studio 2010. I don't really care what they do cutting taxes etc, because that's the States problem and not mine. I currently have the same licence on my desktop and my laptop of Windows 7 Professional. Haven't ran into a problem yet, and I do regular updates. Funny but I love their operating system..and my major is computer science..

  • @workman845, taxes is NOT the state's problem - find out about corporate funding of presidential campaigns - these CEOs now as good as own the government. Lost tax revenue IS your problem - you pay for it one way or another - such as having to pay for expensive private health care insurance.

You love their OS and your major is computer science? lol! Anyone who knows anything about OSes know the Microsoft has for years sold poor software. You like the glossy graphical interface, NOT the OS.

  • @jakeZaks2012 I wasn't aware that Windows NT had a glossy graphical interface. Lost tax revenue IS YOUR problem not mine. I'm not from your country. Yes my major is computer science, I said that already. Why are you asking me again? Are you illiterate?

I have one question. If Microsoft has sold such poor software for so long and it's over priced then why is it still around? Answer that legitimately and I'll give you an award.

  • @workman845, I praised C++ to show I'm not biased against Microsoft. Microsoft started out selling compilers and interpreters, and they did a good job, and that's how they should have stayed.

Microsoft had NO experience in writing OSes. Gates bought DOS, originally called QDOS, which was a close of CP/M, written by Gary Kildall, who did all the pioneering work in microcomputer OSes - such as creating the BIOS, which PCs still use today - NOT Bill Gates, who is nowhere near as intelligent.

  • @jakeZaks2012 uhm... you do know the BIOS is installed on the motherboard, not the OS right?

Microsoft only used DOS for DOS through to Windows 98. Then they created Windows NT and to this day (Windows 7) is based off of Windows NT

  • @workman845, 4 years, Windows had no adminstrator a/c - so users could mess with the OS & create mayhem - this also made the OS easier prey for malicious software. 2nd, if a person created a file, another user could read it, modify it, & delete it - a good OS doesn't allow this! 3rd, u had to reboot Windows after making certain changes.

Windows 7 has copied a lot of security features that Linux has had for years. Linux is based on UNIX, which, unlike Windows, WAS a professionally designed OS

  • @workman845, think about it. It is 2010, and Windows has FINALLY installed the kind of features, functions and filing system that UNIX had in the 1970s and 1980s. Microsoft, for many years, didn't even implement a full virtual memory system (not hard as the Intel & AMD chips provide this functionality), and this is what made Windows notoriously unstable, with one program being able to crash the entire system.

  • @jakeZaks2012 Okay, let's admit something here. Amateurs who know nothing about computers use Windows. They don't use Linux or Unix. Not normally at least. Macs are soo strictly built you can't do anything on them at all makes them completely inflexible. Windows is built for people from the average user to the most advanced user. Obviously the more average users are going to mess things up! And because it is the most popular OS it is a large target for virus programmers.

  • @workman845, so y was UNIX such a good OS? Because it was designed by two talented comp. scientists, Thompson & Richie, to do a job, whereas DOS was bought by a businessman, Bill Gates, simply to make money.

Dennis Richie is also the author of the C programming language. C++ is an enhanced version of C with obj. oriented features, a comp. lang. almost all prof. programmers know & use.

MS didn't even create the browser, it copied Netscape's product, then killed it by giving IE away free.

  • @jakeZaks2012 I know what C++ and C is. And I know who Dennis Ritchie is. I don't know what the point of this post was.

I don't get you. You're all for the free OS's(Lunix) Then you hate on Microsoft for giving away something for free. Why should ANYONE make money off of a web browser?

  • @workman845, so, to conclude, what has Bill Gates, the programmer, contributed to the computer industry? NOTHING!

  • @jakeZaks2012 Bill Gates the programmer has not contributed a whole lot. But he makes a lot more money than you and I do.

  • Those who care about education, shouldn't put up videos distorting history.

Google "Dr Dobbs - Gary Kildall and Collegial Entrepreneurship" for the true history of the development of the PC & the PC's OS - rather than the "victor's" version.

Gary Kildall said of Bill Gates: "He is divisive. He is manipulative. He is a user. He has taken much from me and the industry."

Gates now uses his money to influence politics & economics, he's helping create a global system for benefit of corporate CEOs.

  • Bill Gates was a university drop-out. He is NOT a computer scientist. He has NEVER written an operating system in his entire life. He has made NO contributions to the computer industry. Why does this RUTHLESS BUSINESSMAN get treated as if he knows anything about computers?

Gary Kildall did all the pioneering work, wrote CP/M. Gates bought QDOS, effectively a copy of CP/M.

Kildall was a real computer scientist, but he was ignored. Instead, we hear from a man who knows very little about anything

  • @jakeZaks2012 was he even at a university? no he never did good in school, but he could something with computers. how can you POSSIBLY say that OPERATING SYSTEMS is not a contribution? AARE YOU INSANE? holy shit i cannot believe you man. and no, bill already worked with OS way before he entered the buisness world. that aside he has made alot of moves i despise, but you are just fucking insane.

  • I knew Bill and Linda Gates are Mr & Mrs Typhoid Mary,Gates foundation is spreading cancer, aids, numerous long term sickness as part of NWO Eugenics program cause their view is"world is over populated" but Gate's donot take any vaccines themselves-these criminals need to be arrested.GMO foods are poison, Monsanto & Gates Foundation collaborate to kill off the masses. Eugenics programs are standard policies of western Gov. since 60's if you don't believe See "Gates Advocacy for Death Panels."

  • Capitalism is the historic evolution of private property relationship of alienation, exploitation and suffering of immense humanity in a abstract modality of wages system for Capital accumulation and concentration. State,Class,Money are the unholy trinity of PRIVATE PROPERTY domination of life. Capitalism is historically outdated, destructive and a dying corpse suffocating life across our Planet.

  • HYPOCRIT. How many people died and got screwed out of CODES so MS copyright stolen code?? Get this smartass Bilderberg socialist shithead in a room so he can explain how HIS companies directly helped the poor. If this elite is SO concerned with world poverty, he can pick a country to run it like he ran his successful business, to make it a likewise success, instead of conspiring to collapse THE most successful country in the world, the USA... TREASON!

  • Great show

  • popcorn.

  • Hint: When your windows machine implodes, use Linux to set it free.

  • MIRCROSOFT FTW FOR EVER! I DONT SEE MAC or APPLE MAKEING SOMETHING USEFUL

  • @FateMsBankai Mac is Apple and Apple is Mac >_>

    Microsoft fan boy...

  • @sonic4life007 thats what i ment

  • apple sucks.

  • @adminABL Haha, true, I agree with you dude, Windows is far better than the shit software Apple creates.

  • Apple FTW

  • mac win for the win... that doesnt make sense....

  • BSOD

  • lol its about time someone fills those shoes!

  • one hour for a video?!

  • what ?!!!!! yeah did he create you or any of the stuff around u?

  • Windows.

  • most of them

  • Every man is a God becuase he has the capacity 2 invent, explore & manipulate, C ur problem is U read a history book that was written by MAN. put 2gether by the catholics that claim to get imaginary voices in their heads and you 2day take it up and read it and believe in it.

Well I rather stick 2 evolution.

  • @Masterofdisaster199

    ffs, come on..

  • @Masterofdisaster199 no i run on ubuntu.

  • watched half of it, nothing amazingly insightful, just a bunch of techno-hype like code9333k said.

  • this video was good

why cant i see the video p9

  • Wow, I didn't know Bill Gates was such a bad public speaker. Seriously, he should relax more, his voice is extremely strenuous.

  • no hes not

  • i heard once that 90% of people focus on how people say things rather than what they say. Not sure how accurate that is, but nevertheless it points out a disparity between what's important and what people pay attention to. your comment is evidence to that point. i have a feeling mr. gates is the type who pays attention to what people say.

  • I did both. He talked about his work in the software industry and Microsoft's future software plans. I tried out his space exploration app. There's really no excuse for a speaker to have such bad public speaking skills, even if it is Bill Gates. Anyone who's been to university knows this point. As someone else said before me, he didn't do anything but hype about miscellaneous software rather than giving a view of the future of the industry.

  • Too much techno-hype, no serious facts, nor real help for those students to grow in the field... I loved Research Channel until it became cheap propaganda for enterprises. Where is the "research" here? I just saw a typical channel.
