This piece is the first movement of the 6th Organ Symphony by Organist Charles M. Widor. he was the Organst over at St Sulpice for 63 years. This Pipe Organ was built by A. Cavaille Coll and was the start of a new era of building Pipe Organs. He gave Organs more power and created the French Symphonic Organ. The style is preferred by many Concert and Church Organists today, including myself! The great Louis Vierne was Organist at Notre Dame. For many serious Pipe Organists, Paris is Heaven---
@DesireeDeFete people who just like Music think of Bach when they think Organ. But the organists working in Paris from 1850 onward really took the Organ to the next level! Widor wrote 9 Organ symphonies. Vierne was the Organist here at Notre Dame, and wrote 6 symphones for the Organ, which are very popular among organists and organ music lovers. If you look around, you can see the old console (the keyboard station, if you will) that controlled the Organ when Vierne was there. Thanks for this!
Anyways, at that day Louis Braille, born in 1809, is 200 years old! Happy bicentenary birthday, Louis Braille! He played the organ in Notre Dame de Paris.
Nothing chilling about this, if you want to be really 'chilled' listen to Widor's 9th. The Allegro here is one of the boldest and brightest pieces Widor ever composed ( except, of course, for the famous 5th Toccata).
