This is a clip from the "Live in Australia with the Melmourne Sympony Orchestra" CD. First time that I've ever seen a clip from that album. Elton is an amazing talent.
This is what Reg was all about. In the late 80's, he came to Cleveland for the 2nd time on an album. He played 3 hits stopped and said, since this is the second time around on this album, I'm going to play something a little different. He then played a whole bunch of "b" sides for the next hour and a half. Best I ever saw. After the concert was over, people were saying, "That was terrible. I didn't know any of the songs he played." My response was you don't know Reg at all.
@rwrusselljr cleveland rocks! once was great but twice???? never heard of that. must have been at the coliseum.
did he play the b-sides from live in australia? (as in king must die, etc. etc. etc.--they were b-sides on the original albums but you know what I mean--it was around the same time) or were they ones from newer albums (too low for zero, ice on fire, leather jackets)--ones like all quiet on the western front, the retreat, club at the end of the street, wrap her up, cold as christmas.
My favorite Elton song, great version, I thought the Tokyo 71 version was great bu this one is better I think. What a song, what a performance. Amazing
He makes playing the piano look so easy, his music is phenomenal.
Elton you are an absolute LEGEND!!!

You have no idea how much I envy you. Sounds like a concert to die for.

Yes I am envious as well. As a true fan I want him to stop playing the same songs from 1970-1973 I hear every tme. Variety is sweet for my ears.

Lol... He never plays songs from his oldest albums... Except from '' Madman Across The Water '' : p

One of the best versions I've heard, only beaten by Birmingham 2004!

I agree that it's the best versions. But Birmingham 2004 cannot beat this.
