@JusFnAround Hi there, I DJ when I'm at home but I am in University so I can't take my regular vinyl decks with me due to obvious reasons! I just want to mix for fun at Uni using my laptop, is this as realistic as normal decks?

@M1F2R3 I have never DJ-ed on vinyl, and this is my first controller/ dj setup, but I have to say that it works well for what I want to do (scratching, very basic jungle) except the fader curve is a little bad so crabs and really choppy scratching is really hard. But I have to say that its software, and the smoothness of the software is really nice. And even then if you don't want this, the next step up is probably a Numark Mixtrack. Hope I helped!

@CloudandZack1st If your going to be using it around your house, and the occasional back yard bbcue, then your good. but know that this unit is totally a beginner unit, and for me it was worth the investment to pay $99 for this, that $400 for a rig that I'm not fully capable of using. I'll probably consider upgrading as I get better over time.

@SpriteTechs I dont know of any way you can get the headphones to work independently of the speakers without an additional sound card like the Audio 2 DJ by Native Instruments.

@EthanBranden I wouldn't go out and start trying to book a full on gig, but if you wanted to rock a backyard barbacue, or just a little get together party with friends this would work great. I did it on my B-Day, and for our new years party last year. although if your rockin it w/ friends I'd think about pre recording some stuff, cuz you'll eventually take yourself out of the party by becoming the entertainment.

hey m new to djing..and i just bought the discover dj and can i buy any external sound card...asin can i use one port bulit in in ma laptop for the speakers and the external for the head phones..and whihc software does it use ?

At first I tried getting a different sound card with Dual outputs, that didnt work. You need a sound card that has "Independent" Dual Outputs"

a regular sound card w/ dual outputs wont seperate the sound. the "AUDIO 2 DJ" from Native Instrumentt has Independent Dual sound outputs, that MixVibes will recognize.

I might do a video showing how this works. But give me a few days.

@JusFnAround - I had bought a previous model at Target called the Ion Icue, it was -okay- but the jog wheels were tiny as all hell, and I don't think they were touch sensitive, I ended up returning it. Seemed it was mainly made for mixing. Saw this in the same store, for the same price and thought about getting it. What I'd like to know is how well this thing can scratch (try making a vid of you just scratching over some bass, cymbals, snare etc) and can it be configured to work with Traktor.
