I feel bad for you. Those days are over with the $9.99 a box of ammunition.  I remember when it was at $6.95 a box. But that was back in 1989... Learn to reload ammunition, it's quite safe and very fun to do so. I'm sure one of your friends knows how. I learn in less than 10 minutes. Very cheap to shoot with reloaded ammunition. Also, you'll have plenty on stock.

Most gun laws aren't that specific generally because the folks that write them up have never actually handled firearms or understand anything about them. Their knowledge comes from movies and the liberal media who again know nothing about guns. Haven't heard of any ridiculous rules like that about actually having to modify the firearms themselves, only about how the owner is allowed to carry them or transport them via cars. Who will be looking at your gun if your conceal carrying?

It figures some might go with cheaper just to shoot verses loading a mag with higher quality stuff for concealed carry or something. These you tube glock videos always show glock firing real smooth with no jams so long as good ammo is used but opinions vary. What did you use for that ? Thx

Shooting at water is stupid unless u know for sure that there is nothing the bullets will hit when they skip off into the distance. Shotguns are differant, if they skip they only go a few hundred feet.

The depth of the water is very important. Bullets don't skip off of water like the "ideal model" says they will. In fact when a round skips off of water in most cases it leaves the water almost parallel to the water's plane. This is because of the terribly inelastic collision that just occurred. As long as he is aware of his back stop he could be 100% safe shooting water. I guess the internet wouldn't be as fun if we couldn't be Monday morning QBs would it?

I personally carry a Glock 19 just because of its safety features. I can slam it on the ground as hard as I can and it won't discharge.

What you have to avoid is grabbing the trigger while preventing from the holster (if you do, then don't even pick up a gun.)

It doesn't have a hammer or a manual safety, which basically means present and shoot, unlike the 1911 (which is a great gun)
