  • Jeeze...people know nothing about elephants, do they? A large bull will average *about* 10 feet at the shoulder. This individual is closer to 11.5 and 6 or 7 tons. Claims of 15 feet are absurd. To put it in perspective, mammoths, which were much bigger, reached about 13 feet at the shoulder. The largest land mammal ever, which was actually related to the rhinoceros, reached about 18 feet at the shoulder. If it were 15 or 20 feet tall, it would weigh well over 10 tons - closer to 15 or more.

  • wow..impressive!

  • about 4meters high and about 7 tons

  • anyone knows how tall are this elephant? weight?

  • @hanten10 On all fours this Elephant is 20ft tall (6 metres) and weighs 6500kg which is 14,000 pounds or 6.5 tonnes.

  • @Dungarth Really? sorry but i dont think any elephant in this modern world can reach 20feet tall because the rate of elephant height is only 13feet tall

  • @hanten10 Youtube doesn't allow edits, I meant on 2 feet its over 20ft tall but on all 4s close to 15ft. And the average height of an adult male African Elephant on all 4s is 14ft. Duke is an exceptionally larger Elephant.

  • @Dungarth Are you measure it yourself? sorry but its a wrong prediction, Its not 14ft or 15ft ,maybe just around 9ft to 10 ft but not more than that

  • what ta fok.... look at the size of that "phantty".... that animal represents beauty and strenght... thank you very much for the upload man...

  • Is that a pygmy elephant? can't tell. Any videos of this big guy with a person beside him?

  • This guy looks lonely that's what happens when your so freaking huge.

  • This elephant got scared off by a honeybadger.

  • I imagine that Dinosaurs had skin like elephants and rhino's. Very similar color and texture.

  • He does not look that big . may be the biggest tusker in the wolrd but definitely not the biggest elephent in the world

  • I just hope that america go and inhabit the moon :P. Just go already we all be happy.

  • @Kranda123 why dont u fucks go =D

  • @builditbetter09 Because we dont have nasa.

  • Elephants are awesome :D

  • Beautiful Duke - you can see he is having difficulty eating the stick, his last teeth must have been worn right down. He is magnificent. I am sorry he has gone from the earth but glad if he had to die - that it was a natural death, not for his tusks. Vale Duke.

  • @elephantectivism He's dead now? That sucks. With those giant tusks, he looks epic. The elephant of elephants.

  • Yes it is true. The very sad news from Kruger Park was announced on 7 October 2011 that Duke had died of natural causes (old age) at 55+ years. Rest in peace big boy, you were a great and magnificant beast. You did the Kruger National Park, South

Africa, yourself and all those who saw you, loved you, and knew you proud.

  • I heard that Duke died today - RIP Big one!

  • Awww Duke looks lonely.

I will be your friend, Duke. You can come over and play xbox.

  • I want to put a tent on his back and live on top of him lol :)

  • This video got meinterested into elephants a lot more, I have learned so much thanks to your video! I learned about the average elephan (which is so interesting!) I also learned about "Duke" who lost his tusks naturally. People said it was a shame, but I tend to digress. Nature wanted him to lose his tusks, but nature's balance sure is upset about what we do to the wild! I hope DUKE lives long without gis tusks, but I heard it may be difficult. At least, this is nature's way! Awesome video!

  • You really get the scale of that incredible beast when the cars look like toy cars! Epic music, I'm sure "Duke" would be happy with this video of him :D

  • espectacular big elephant.

  • This is just such a beautiful video. Brought tears to my eyes. Ty for sharing it.

  • this is one of the reasons why i'm vegetarian, so I don't end up having anything to do with big fellas like this one

  • @mistermisterfun

We have food, livestock. dont try and get funny.

  • @MisterMisterFUN

You, sir, are the scum of the earth. Elephants are just as important to our echo system as humans are. And so are all animals.

  • @QuinnyyMini you are absolutely right! Without nature, humans can,t live enymore here on this planet but humans will realize that probably when it is to late. It is bad to have people like Mister Mister FUC on this planet, he has to learn so much about nature to understand what he is talking about.

  • @QuinnyyMini nope

  • @QuinnyyMini humans are not so important ...

  • @QuinnyyMini Funny when you think about it it is us messing everything up and these simple creatures have payed dearly along with others.

  • do your tusks hang low?

  • HUMANS ARE NATURE. that being said though, we're destroying ourselves. :)

  • Incredible that they can derive nourishment from those dried out sticks.

  • omg i didnt se how huge he was untill he crossed the road

  • It's so big

  • That elephants got swagger :L

  • he looks so chill lol

  • Thats 7 tons worth of raw POWER!

  • hes all magestical and such

  • Magnificent bull!

  • DDDAAAAMMMMNNNN

    '

  • look at the tusk on that thing

  • The first tusk was broken in 2008 (I think) and the second one is now broken, also. Duke is still alive. People said : he is more than 50 years old...

  • THERE USED TO BE LOTS LIKE THESE IT WAS NOT RARE BUT HUMANS KILL ALL THEM.FOR THEIR TUSKS

  • @MrPitbull512 no some mammoths where allot bigger like 10 tonne

  • Look at the tusks on him!

.......But thats just it... Look at the tusks on HIM .. not an ivory dealer....

  • He is magnificent! I had no idea that tusks grew that long. I hope he lives a long and healthy life.

  • Handsome...or should I say trunksome?

  • you know that guys under guard.pochers would do almost anything for those tusk

  • overrrrrr !! this is gonna be a biggest elephant ever !!

  • To think this animal can run at speeds of 60 mph plus is amazing, and jump from a standstill 6ft maybe possible 7ft is incredable to say the least, they have been seen hopping and skipping just like deer, very versatile indeed.

  • I THINK THATS A VERY OLD GUY

  • magnificent animal.!!

  • i would really love to think these amazing animals will still be alive in 100 years, but i fear humans are too greedy. governments should start making a cap on how many children you can have. two is more then enough. the world is already full

  • @flingfready Your absolutly right. Without nature all humans will die.

  • @flingfready

One day all of the earth's surface will be a single giant city with nothing more than a few artificial nature-parts. And that is exactly how it should be, we are the dominant species on this planet and because of that, we own everything here and nobody is able to do something against this fact. No god, no good and no bad, there is nothing but the basic laws of nature.

  • @drakkbrecher Why do you speak that way? Why should the Earth be a desolate place with nothing but artificial plants? that could never be. We may be dominant but certainly not superior, and we certainly don't own anything on this planet. We share it with other creatures. We are breaking the laws of nature and as such will most certainly die out quicker than any other species. We are digging our own grave very fast.

  • @flingfready for over 10 million yeah the human population has stayed almost static..in the past 100 years (since the industrial revolution) the population has increased X 6.... and shows no signs of slowing

  • @flingfready Are you an animal conservationist by action or just by talk from your couch and your laptop?

  • @MisterMisterFun Nice to have you here on this planet.

  • @MisterMisterFun thats called being a leech on society and it wont be long before all governments are forced to start legislating how many children you can have like they have to in china.

  • @MisterMisterFun Go pay your child support before I report you

  • @MisterMisterFun You sir... need to be castrated and/or euthanized. Enjoy my tax dollars while you can. Because it won't last forever.

  • @flingfready You've obviously never been to the midwest in the US...one of the smaller continents, and WIDE open spaces....Our world is already full?...idiot.

  • @flingfready

disagree, is that gona happen, the human race woud die, slowly. well that not bad for the hole plannet, we have fucked it up.

sorry for my bad english :)

  • @flingfready that would sound like "less consumers, less money" to the goverment's ears..

  • 1:00 PUNY AUTOMOBILES, YOU WAIT FOR ME! MMWAHAHA >=D

  • @Tulfras999 He doesnt need a Zebra crossing for Zebras are week I cross where I want heheh

  • @MrPitbull512 No, a mammoth is smaller than the African Elephant.

  • @borninfreedom dude u shud come to sri lanka..thats my country...n asian elephants are amazing..well they are mejestic in their own way...amazing creatures...

  • @borninfreedom no way

  • @borninfreedom Really? I thought mammoths were bigger!

  • @borninfreedom No. One species of mammoth was much bigger than an african elephant.

  • @borninfreedom Depends on which Mammoth species you're talking about.

  • @borninfreedom I disagree, mammoths are bigger

  • @AliiiiLewis No, African elephants especially the ones in ngogonro crater are larger that most average sized Mammoths back then.

  • @palkia504 the largest species of mammoth was bigger than all african elephants though

  • @MrWolfman456 - Thanks, but we do know that Duke is alive and well. I saw him in December 2010 at Lower Sabie. You mentioned an elephant that is 84 years old. If you stay in Phalaborwa, love Kruger Park and the elephants, you are then supposed to know that elephants NEVER ever reach 84. A maximum age (and nothing more) would be 60. Sorry to burst your bubble, please check the facts before you post. Contact Neels van Wyk who is the sectional ranger for Crocodile

    Bridge/Lower Sabie or Google.

  • he's almost as big as a Mammoth!

  • @streifly - So sad actually that Mashagadzi is also no longer with us. I was in Kruger

Park for 3 weeks during December 2010. Neels van Wyk who is the a friend of mine and also sectional ranger at Krokodilbrug, mentioned that there are currently not any

real huge tuskers such as Duke or Mashagadzi in Kruger. Fortunately there are quite

a few upcoming bulls (such as Muliluane) with large tusks who have enormous potential. The video of Duke by Borninfreedom is great.

  • @awbvrou Duke is still Alive in krugerpark

  • speechless. i love these animals!

  • Those tusks are gigantic! Looks like they could almost belong to a mammoth.

  • he looks really old. probs is if he's one of the biggest

  • @milarangzen - Duke`s statistics are not 100% certain & have been mentioned by

@awbvrou on this thread previously, which I beleive to be very close. Height approx

3,4m - weight approx 7,500 kg - age approx 55. Both tusks have broken off, and he now has two very short tusks. The intact tusks could have weighed 80-90 kg each

and 2,7-3,0m long. He was the biggest tusker in Kruger Park & still alive. The tusks (broke in a fight?) have been recovered by rangers. Very nice video, borninfreedom.

  • whats his height?

  • That's actually a shaved mastadon :D

  • @TheChickenlover2 - now u ar talking, ok change the topic lets protect the animals bro.

  • Fortunately elephants are not endangered in the Southern African subcontinent. The

estimate is that Botswana and Zimbabwe together carry approx 100,000 elephant with numbers increasing. South Africa has approx 20,000. In Mozambique, Zambia, Namibia and Angola combined approx 10,000 elephant, and numbers also on an

upward curve. Access to elephants in Kruger Park SA, is world renowned. SA also

has impeccible conservation, and the largest tuskers. Rhino numbers are shocking

    and declining.

  • @TheChickenlover2 - yeah i think African chicken too are more wiser than Asian chicken you moron "chickenlover" its not the matter Elephants are Asian or African both are en danged animals need to be protected from mankind. segregation is not the answer. just help the course in some way. seems elephants are wiser than you.

  • general public in my country think elephant is the pride and beauty of a my country. there are many poachers in our country too which is sad. this elephant is a absolute beauty of your country please protect him and rest.

  • How old can elephant be?

  • This beast can noob stomp some fools.

  • the dude looks lonely

  • @orangedac Males usually live on their own. If you put more males in they would fight, and if you put a herd of females in it wouldn't want to be with them.

  • @takeapieandrun

gotta wonder though what's going through his mind.

quietly munching away, deep in thought...

maybe he's thinking of the good old days when he was a baby in the herd.

he just looks sad being all alone.

  • imagine jus seeing one of these in your backyard o__0

  • WOOOOWWWW!

  • WOOOOWWWW!

  • WOOOOWWWW!

  • I think Borninfreedom will agree. Duke will weigh approx 7000 kg (max 7500)

Shoulder height approx 3,2m - 3,4m, tusks intact (now unfortunately gone) approx

80kg each, age 50 - 55 years (they very seldom reach 60). Tusk length approx 2,8m.

He really is a magnificent beast, allthough tuskless. Kruger Park elephant bulls

are renowned as carrying the largest tusks in Africa due to a good & preserved genetic pool. Duke was the largest tusker. There are many young bulls with huge

    tusk potential.

  • Not humans or mighty whales are comparable to the majesty and sublime of this animal, so carefully cut, shaped, and packaged by evolution. We humans today are very lucky, to be witnesses to the last of these giant land animals. Unfortunately, the great, giant sea creatures as well as land's biggest animals like the elephants, tiger, and lions will all likely become extinct in 100-200 years, since mankind has taken most of their environment, poisoned the rest, & also actively poach them.

  • @HenryDavidT You are absolutely right and I hope something will change in future but with the behaviour of man kind, I don,t realy know.

    Gr. Nico

  • @borninfreedom i agree

  • @HenryDavidT

I would say in about 300 to 500 years all predators over 50 pounds and all herbivores over 150 pounds will be extinct...Due to the expansion of the human population more then poaching and hunting...

    We are all guilty.

  • @HenryDavidT so what?

  • Во Имя Отца и Сына!!! Просто суперрррррр!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @YouBios68 ?????

  • @borninfreedom In the Name of the Father, Son! Just superrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

this is my comment, which I first wrote in Russian.

  • @borninfreedom Sen nimi Isän ja Pojan! Just superrrrrrr !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is what he means

  • stampee

  • that reminds me from the mumakils from lord of the rings

  • @gowildlife - Before Duke`s tusks were both broken, he was Kruger`s no 1 largest tusker. In body mass/size he is not the largest, likely at least no 3. How is "biggest elephant" defined. Largest body, tallest, most mass, largest tusks? Not all elephants in Kruger are named, only the large tuskers. There are other unknown small tusked bull`s that are massive & heavier. I`ve been criticised for making these comments, but they are facts. Duke remains a massive bull, a pity that he is now tuskless.

  • @awbvrou I understand exactly what you are saying. I think that the "biggest" elephant should be defined by the largest body/largest body mass, not by tusk size. However, some people define the biggest elephant as the one who is both the tallest and one of the heaviest.

You should not be criticized for making these comments. You have a very good point; tuskless bull elephants or big bull elephants with shorter tusks should not be regarded as smaller than big tuskers. Duke is tuskless?!

  • Duke is huge! I think he weighs more than 15,000 pounds, maybe 15,600 pounds. Are you sure he's the biggest elephant in Kruger Park? He may have the biggest tusks, and definitely is a dominant elephant, maybe No. 2 or 3, if not No. 1. But he appears to be a respectable, wise, and gentle elephant (as long as he's not in the musth state!).

    LONG LIVE DUKE!

  • WOW

  • great now exactly how big is it? Mammoths weighed on an average 8 tons.

  • Looks like a forest elephant, not a bush elephant, those long, downward pointing tusks, interesting....

  • i would love to fight that guy with my bare hands and see who wins

  • He has more wrinkles than Mick Jagger

  • @dr4mus i think you should be shot because youre old and worthless

  • @stupidandnogood he's an idiot and was worthless before he ever saw this video.

the elephant serves a purpose he's part of nature.

    good comment sir

  • Beautlful!!!!!

  • ask him

  • now that's one big ass motherf**ker

If I meet him on foot, I'd shit my pants... he probably wouldn't give a crap

  • why is he breaking those trees? :D

  • this is the biggest just like im a zombie

  • how tall is he and how much does he weigh?

  • how wonderfully majestic and just super duper awesome!

  • this elephant is so big it puts dinosaurs to shame

  • omg look at the ivory on its face that could make you millions jk i love these animals but its tusk will make alot of money

  • He seems sad...I dont think there are many animals left on earth that havent seen a dumbass human with a camera.how sad.

  • my precious baby................god how i love him he towers over all...long life to this stunning animal.....

  • His tusks are so beautiful!

  • Amazing

  • Mh I don't think that he is the biggest one. Colonel Joe, an asian elephant from the circus Krone is the biggest :)

  • @silvermoonorca Aren't African elephants the largest elephants ?

  • Yes, sure. 1978 the shot a massive bull, the largest ever. But Colonel Joe is now named as the biggest elephant in the world, I think because he is still alive :)

  • @thatguy2love and search here on youtube for Colonel Joe^^ you will see how big he is

  • Step aside people... Make way for duke

  • Oh! i like the song! what is it?

  • Anyone know how old he is? 40?50?

  • @94jg As far as I know, 55 years old.

  • @94jg why is he fat

  • June 2009 he was seen being 56 / 57 years of age.
