  • This toy is so awesome! is it Japan made or China?

  • Hi and thanks for the cool vid! I was researching Microkorg and the XL, but seems there is a misunderstanding of the XL. People say XL is less powerfull, comparing to the original with just better vocoder, but your vid made me read most of the XL user manual, so I see the patches can be edited too, even from scratch and the arpegiator too! Seems XL is not less powerfull-seems same power with indeed better vocoder and just less on-board controls. Am I correct? What's your experience?

  • @RaverWild Sorry, I have no experience with the Microkorg or the Microkorg XL. I have never played either one.

  • Very impressive video. You inspire me to learn how to play the piano..Thanks

  • hey man, im looking for a small keyboard that is not a midi controller(like this one). THere is only one on ebay for 500$ and im kind of on a budget. do u have any keyboards that u recommend that are nice 25 key keyboards?

  • @Buckfutter1000 I don't understand. This isn't a MIDI controller - it is a self-contained synthesizer - but it can be used as a MIDI controller in conjunction with other instruments. All keyboards have MIDI functionality these days.

  • @keybdwizrd i know, im saying is there another keyboard like this, that isnt a pure midi only controller

  • @Buckfutter1000 Novation made a 25-key instrument called the Xiosynth. I think it has been discontinued, but there are probably used ones around. I never played one, but I've read good things about it.

  • can you play Zelda music on it?

  • xclnt video bro, zero chating zero spam, just only the sounds i love this korg micro x is a kind of multiple things thnks

  • hey dude i love this vdeo :) sounds beautiful:) i just want to know, can you make a whole song and record it into MP3 format with the software included with this synth ? thanks :)

  • @francaisemusique No, you need to record to a computer or other device using some kind of recording software. The MicroX simply makes sounds.

  • those synth doesnt work it they arent plugd in to a pc?

  • @1770studios Yes, they do.

  • Like this keyboard. A lot of sounds.

  • someone is selling this in my local town second hand for 300$ is it a good price?

  • @OBSysteme ,

If the offer is still available and if you still haven't bought it, then YES, it is definitely a great price IF it's in good working condition. I own one and it's amazing! ;)

  • Great little keyboard...It really is packed with features....Would run great with Pro Tools - check out my videos on pro tools if you get a chance!

  • sorry can i connect this korg to the hi-fi? or to a yamaha electric piano?

  • sorry can i connect this korg to the hi-fi?

  • is this the x50 just in a small format?

  • @MrTbh98 No, they actually have quite different sound libraries.

  • @DefecationSociety It does not run on batteries, nor does it have speakers.

  • whats the computer program you need to run this? or does all these sounds already come in the x KoRG

  • @N3RDnation All of the sounds are in the keyboard. No computer needed.

  • IS THIS SOUND SET DIFFERENT FROM THE M3 OR IS IT THE SAME?

  • @daytona500 Not even close.

  • @keybdwizrd

does that mean 'better' or 'worse'. i see the micro x as sounding 'fatter' than the m3 and the m3 more realistic than the micro x.

  • @lavakava These things are all so subjective, and like comparing apples and oranges. The preset libraries are very different. The MicroX ROM is smaller and the samples aren't as meticulously detailed as those in the M3. The factory MicroX programs are more slanted toward a wider variety of sounds, including dance, world, new age, ambient, techno, etc.

  • @keybdwizrd I LOVE mastersblaster sound!!! COngratulation!! ;)

  • so glad i found one of these for a hundred bucks ...thought i would never afford one the first time i saw one @ guitar center

  • Gotta love Korg

  • great sounds, thanks for posting this. am looking at grabbing one of these bad boys.

  • This or the R3?

  • @CaspaUk R3 easy. The possibilitys are endless.

  • # 1.11 killerrrrrrrrrrrr!!

  • can u plug this one into a mpc an record the sounds on the mpc which u are playing on the korg ?

  • @xxxMoGxxx If you're talking about the Akai MPC, which is a sampler, I would imagine the Akai could sample anything, including the Micro X.

  • @keybdwizrd yes im talkin about the akai mpc

  • @keybdwizrd yo keybrd wizard thanks for the upload! here is the deal I have microsampler for sampling looping and arangments,Akai apc 20 for controling abelton, Yamahah mm6 for sounds and a Boss bass guitar effects unit( Me-50b) for effects and distortion. The thing is I need another decent sound libary. Straight aswer Microkorg XL or Micro X? they are roughly the same price atm.As u guess im producing dance/rock music; Prodigy,Justice, DaftPunk. What would suit me best? regards ColossallCollapse

  • @ColossalCollapse the Microkorg and MicroX are two very different instruments. Microkorg will give you more synthetic, electronic sounds. MicroX is more like the MM6 you have, but with a more adventurous patch library (ethnic, trance, orchestral, jazz, etc.).

  • is this a midi controler or can you just plug it into a speaker

  • @KFLUFF27 The sounds you are hearing are coming from the synthesizer in the video.

  • you can use this as an external synth right? to plug another controller into

  • @auxili160 Yes.

  • Comment removed

  • THX for your demos ! :)

just got one from Ebay for 310$, Bran new! i needed a small traveler and something for my midi controler.

for the price, i think it's worth it.

    Now...I'll save for a wihile... for a VIRUS TI2 ;)

  • Does it work as a Controller ???

  • @albanianCRAZ Yes.

  • @keybdwizrd Does it work as a handy controller then? Not regarding the quantity of knobs!

  • @gudn1 It is as handy as can be given the few # of keys. I have only ever used it as such with my laptop while traveling.

  • @MrLegion2407 when is this arrest and law suit gonna happen, tired of waiting....yawn

  • kiss an american rock band from new york but gene is from hafia israel.

Other Places in israel are GOOD but not hafia.

Kiss wiki american

  • I DONT HAVE THAT loser. Thats it and when the feds arrest YOU ON TOUR on STAGE be ashamed for the First time in your ultra pathetic Life.

  • Keep it up loser so next month is July 12 months a YEAR you should be arrested.

  • keyboardwizrd is this just by the keyboard synth itself or is that a mixer, or a sequencer with reverb please tell me. Is it just the synthesiser itself?

  • @ExKissfanRetire It is just the Micro X by itself.

  • @keybdwizrd thank you :-)

  • So did these sounds/patches come with the microX or did you make them yourself?

  • @Iwalkedtheplank The are all presets that come with the MicroX.

  • @keybdwizrd Saaaweeeeet. thanks man.

  • @keybdwizrd

obviously this rompler has some amazing synth presets, amazing 'almost songs in themselves' presets, and some awesome acoustic string instruments. How does it go, though, for say electric guitar, elec bass, accordions, trumpets, etc.? My father makes Italian ethnic music and he feels lacking in areas such as those instruments, I'm trying to convince him the mX is a good option for a cheap yet powerful ROMpler.

  • @drakeishfyre Like many romplers I would say the electric guitars are mediocre. The trumpets are better, but as is also often the case, the brass ensemble patches are better than the solo instruments. It's just darned hard to play a keyboard and make it sound like a real trumpet player, regardless of the quality of the sample. More expensive keyboards, like the M3 I just bought, do a better job due to their multi-samples - different samples are triggered depending upon keyboard velocity.

  • @drakeishfyre Lastly, I would say that the electric basses and accordions are very good - these kinds of sounds tend to be much easier to emulate with keyboards.

  • @keybdwizrd

    alright, sounds good.

on my side of things, I'm considering a few options. Currently my sound bank only consists of what I can create on the R3; all of which sounds very stale and fake... definitely not enough warmth (IMO) on the R3. I'm looking for better pads and motion sounds- does the MicroX have these samples? I'm also considering selling the R3 and saving up for either a Radias or Virus Snow... Any suggestions you may have for someone interested in ambient/synthpop sounds?

  • Thanks for this video, can i connect to ableton live and use the korg micro x instruments in ambleton, like plot them on amblton for triggure and playback through the korg micro x, I know midi is 16 channels so mybe i could use upto 16 instruments or sounds

  • I am only familiar with the Micro X. I think it is a great value for the money.

  • @keybdwizrd can it hook up to the computer though? i wanna make an electronica band and i need one of these. can i take whatever i make on here and put it on likr fruity loops

  • Yes, you can do that.

  • @keybdwizrd Hey i have this and fruity loops 9, but it only works as a midi controller for other presetes, how do i get it so i can use the sounds that come with it through fruity loops and be able to record my voice through the vocoder onto fruity loops

  • @zouga I'm sorry but I have no experience with fruity loops.

  • @zouga you have to record them using your soundcard's line inputs; the USB cable will not transmit them, and neither will MIDI cables (since MIDI is not audio). The vocoder - same thing; you need to plug a microphone in your computer's soundcard and work from there.

    See 7eDGVxwJWE0

  • is is completely self contained. It does not need a computer.

  • Hi there,

I just purchased this keyboard I'm wondering how to hook it up for recording with Apogee duet

  • For a synth like the micro X or a digital piano like the roland FP series, what kind of amplifiers do you use/suggest (for gigging)?

    thanks

  • Keyboards put out a wide range of frequencies, so most people find that smaller powered PA speakers/systems work and sound best. If you're playing in a band that has a PA, the keys can be run directly into it, so all you need is a PA monitor. For smaller gigs I've used a Roland KC350 keyboard amp - it is plenty loud, and has a built-in mixer that can handle four keyboards. You will find a variety of keyboard amps at sites like musiciansfriend.

  • thanks for the reply. I currently use Montarbo which I'd like to change and I'm undecided between KC, Behringer, or Hartke.

  • What the cheese that little keyboard synth is amazing

  • What if you want a Micro X to sound like an old mini moog?

  • good luck on that one

  • hey!

does anybody know how to load new banks on the microx with the editor?

  • Thank you again for this great work, Master of Keys. :-))

  • You're welcome... it's my pleasure...

  • Microkorg vs. XL vs. MicroX vs. R3...... I CANT DECIDE

  • @drakeishfyre in response to myself, I got an R3.... XL might actually have been a better choice as it has some real samples in addition to synthesis but w/e. Definitely purchasing a MicroX soon though.

  • @drakeishfyre

The XL is a good choice for comp editing.

It give you the R3 in a way.

look for : KORG MICRO XL SONIC LAB here on the tube.

    this Brit makes great reviews.

  • @drakeishfyre

The XL is a good choice for comp editing.

It give you the R3 and the radius if i remember well ?

look for : KORG MICRO XL SONIC LAB here on the tube.

    this Brit makes great reviews.

  • @drakeishfyre Haha, I've been asking the same questions. Get the R3 if you can afford. There's sosososo much you can do and edit on it. The Microkorg is great for price, and is an awesome synth.

  • @scoot4food Ha that was a year ago. I have an R3 and X50 now :-)

  • @drakeishfyre Lol, yeah I realized that after I posted it.. What's the X50 like? I wanna get a decent size synth.

  • @drakeishfyre im in the same boat! hmmm im leaning towards XL but really want an R3 (i already have a M3 tho)

  • @drakeishfyre Microkorg > XL . R3 > Microx in my opinion

  • I just bought one of these and I love it! Hey keybdwizrd any recommendations? :D I wanted to ask you where can i find the "masterblaster" sound, i can't find it in my synth --'

  • These are all factory presets, so it's gotta be in there somewhere!

  • how long do u take to learned play that thing?

i really want to know.. i'm kinda like that thing..!

  • I have been playing the piano and keyboards for 45 years.

  • i don't play piano or keyboard.. do u think i can learn this thing?

i'm 20.., is it worth if i learn how to play this and 45 years later i can play like u.. lol..

  • I think you need to answer those questions for yourself. :)

  • just start from the basics my friend

  • Try to start off with a cheaper keyboard, and this one looks a bit too small for learning, probably more for programming songs. Try a cheap yamaha, i got one for 100 dollars, and with a $40 midi to usb cable, it can make any sounds you want with a computer.

  • thanks man.

  • good to know..

with all the experience under your belt...

you can make an old casiotone rock..

people should realize that no matter how good a piece of gear is.., your abilties count. no gear is going to make you soudn good if you suck.

    keep em coming.

  • @odinmp5 This is very true, but, conversely, if you're the sort that's driven to create (whether you suck or not) having decent gear that doesn't sound like crap can inspire you to be more creative. Of course, knowledge of theory and technique is an obvious variable here, but all else aside, having gear that doesn't suck may help the performer suck less, unless the person in question is absolutely tone deaf and has no rhythm. God help that person.

  • @chronophagia agreed... my evolver mek came in the mail 2 weeks ago.. . my scales sound better now. (lol).

what a coincidence.. as i read your message i saw a guy in the studio next to mine with a korg radias connected to a kaoss pad 3. (sounds terrible and out of tune).... tone deaf.

    god help him.

hey chrono, keep those chops improving and i hope the gear fairy gives you all the best.

    peace bro.!

  • 01:11 ooohhhhhh.... love!

  • is this synthesizer satisfying??

I mean, does it offer a big variety of GOOD sounds and effects to the keyboardist??

I am in a band and i would like to learn about it!!

  • I believe the answer is yes, but have made these videos to help people make their own decisions. :)

  • is it midi compatable

  • Yes, I don't think there's a keyboard made today that isn't.

  • Would this work with an mpc 1000?

  • That progress trance one sounds quite like royksopp.

    Good man

  • Any chance and sense to connect my ELECTRIBE SX to Micro X?Is it works?

  • You could do that and sync the tempos of the Electribe and the arpeggiators in the Micro X.

  • how do u connect this to your pc?

  • USB port.

  • Is the USB Port just for The controller funktions or does it have an Audio interface

  • No audio interface.

  • Do you think you could give me the bank numbers for soem of these settings?

and if its not too cheeky, a couple of the tabs, some seriously good keyboard in there!

  • The patch names are in the videos. It's possible you could find a list of banks/programs at the Korg website.

99.9% of the stuff I play in these videos are improvised on the spot, so I don't have any "tabs."

  • Is the synthesis on the Micro X as good as the MicroKorg?

  • I have never played a MicroKorg, but I believe the two are very different instruments.

  • microkorgs terrible compared to this

  • What I'm trying to establish though is is this keyboard purely just patches, or can you synthesize sounds like on a microkorg? :)

  • This is a sample-playback instrument, so you're not really programming sounds from scratch, but rather combining sounds in new ways or doing simple edits on existing samples. The MicroKorg is more of a digital synthesizer, better for "synthesizer type electronic sounds."

  • comparing this to a Microkorg is ridiculous:

The Microkorg is a VA, the MicroX is a rompler !

I think they would fit well together.

Anyway, with your comment you proved that you still have a long way to go ;-)

  • The Micro X does not have a sequencer. It has a couple of arpeggiators that can be used to create drum loops and bass patterns... short little loops but nothing complicated. You'll need to buy a more expensive workstation keyboard if you want an onboard sequencer.

  • No you don't.......Alesis Micron

  • Hi, I´m enjoying ur videos since i´m a total beginner and thinking about buying a korg Korg Micro X. I wish to know if this model is also a sequencer? Mean its possible to produce and record my own tracks on a databank introducing sounds on many channels 1 by 1 or something? Or its only for playing? wanna produce my own ambient chillout and techno, trance stuff. What model would u recommend for these genres? Thanks and sorry my ignorance...

  • The Micro X does not have a sequencer. It has two arpeggiators that can be used to create drum loops and short, repeating bass lines, for example.

  • Does the Micro X have the facility for a vocoder..?

    Thanks!

  • No it does not.

  • which do you think is better for general all around studio use. I am not a real keyboard player but I want to get the best value. The question is , buy the MicroKorg or Korg Micro X. what would you suggest? Also I'd like the vocoder option that the Korg Micro has. I dont think the Micro X has that facility..??

    Thanks!

  • Sorry to bother you, but what's your opinion on the electric piano and organ sounds for jazz playing? I'd say no one could answer that question better than you ;)

  • These things are always a matter of personal preference... I think there are some very good electric piano and organ patches in the Micro X, that could likely be passable in a variety of situations. That being said, I've personally grown to prefer the pianos and organs in my Yamaha Motif, so I gravitate to the Yamaha for those sounds.

  • Thanks! I just saw you have a Roland JV-1080 too. Should I go for this or the MicroX for epiano, organ and bass guitar sounds?

  • This isn't a decision I can make on anyone else's behalf.

Out of the box, the JV-1080 has some decent bass sounds. But you can get a bass/drum expansion card for it that has some of the most realistic bass guitar sounds I have ever heard. That's not to say there aren't some really good bass sounds in the Micro X, however.

Both have the usual collection of organ and electric piano sounds, although the JV-1080 definitely has a 90's vibe to the sounds, especially the electric pianos.

  • It outputs directly to an amp or recorder. You do not need a PC to play this keyboard.

  • hi, im a 'midi dumbass' can you help me out. Does this output straight to an amp / multitrack recorder or does it have to go into a PC? i record on a boss br1600 and want to avoid having to use midi keyboards through the pc. thanks.

  • Is it hard to learn synthesizer ???

  • great one! i have microx a the sound is useful, nice, pleasure,..synths, pianos, guitar, and many many more..drums, and 2 arpeggios,

  • ohh err missus sounds like golden sun stuff lol!!! btw how would you compare this synth to these?

    -novation xio

    -microkorg xl

-korg r3 they all look cool (getting a talkbox)

  • Sorry, I've never played any of those.

  • how many sounds does this machine have in total? are they all you've played in your demos or are there more?

  • I don't know, but I am sure there are specs a Korg's website. I have only played a small fraction of them in the videos.

  • never played the Novation or Microkorg XL but I have a Korg R3 and I think its pretty good. One big advantage over the MicroX is more keys, the R3 has 37 while the microx has 25.

  • also can you use another keyboard to control it

  • yes i use the Edirol PCR500 and it works like a charm

  • ok thanks anyway

  • im getting a x5d and i want to know if you can make the sound quality like this on it

  • I am sorry, but I am not familiar with that synth.

  • hey please answer, does the micro x comes with the usb cable ?

  • I don't recall, but I think it does. That information is probably available at the Korg website.

  • it does, i just bought one

  • thanks buddy

  • thanks for this video

  • You're welcome!

  • hey keybdwizrd, let's say i buy this thing and want to use it with my mpc, does this little synth come with all the sounds or does it need to be plugged into the pc? i'm looking for something that has a load of sounds without the whole 88 keys/need to be plugged into the pc to work.

  • All of the sounds are inside the instrument, and it does NOT need to be plugged into a PC.

  • awesome. thanks again for answering and these videos. if you have a chance can you do a video showing the piano sounds this carries? only if you have a chance. peace my brother!

  • IMHO the piano sounds on the MicroX are not especially impressive.

  • I aggree, thats because the MicroX's synth engine is the same as the one used in the Korg Triton, of which I didn't think the piano sounded great in either. If you have heard the Triton, you have heard this, although the programs are different

  • considering it's price range though is it pretty decent still? i want something that sounds pretty good with all the other cool synths.

  • as everyone else has said the piano sounds aren't that great. The drums, strings, and synth sounds are great! If you want really good piano/acoustic sounds, I'd go with the Motif - but yamaha isn't offering 25 key synth/midi controller offer that's comparable to the Korg Micro X

  • can u work microx on Logic 8 ?!!!

  • Your demos make me want this machine so bad but I know I won't be able to play it this good :(

  • is the microx battery operatable?

  • Unfortunately, no.

  • how do i connect a micro x to fruity loops? can anyone help please.

  • can it be used from the mains or is it only USB?

  • I am not sure I understand the question, but the USB port is an option for MIDI connectivity and using the software editor. The Micro X has regular MIDI jacks as well as standard audio outputs.

  • Hey, to answer your question, I'm pretty sure it has to be connected to the mains to run. It comes with its own power supply and mains input.

  • ok so are these sounds already in it?

  • Yes, they are factory programs.

  • its not easy to make your own programs from scratch on the micro, at least Ive found, I use mine as more of a rompler than an actually synthesizer

  • I wanted to purchase a used Triton LE. But I found this for cheaper, plus it has all the sounds of the triton le and more. But is the TR engine more powerful then the triton? shoudl i go with this or the Triton Le?

  • go for the microx bro its cheaper and it has even more sounds than the le plus you can use it as a midi controller ,interface or a sound module that means that you can control it with a 88 key external keyboard ,belive me
