GO- DAMM-SONOFABITCH, finally someone put this up. I always saw other titles but no this one. This was the first song I heard by Benard Wright. It came out around the same time as Tom Browne's "Thighs High (Grip Your HIps and Move) and sounded similar. I hope this becomes available on Itunes. AND FUCK THESE SECURITY WORD GAMES THAT I HAVE TO FILL OUT BEFORE GETTING TO POST.
@soulfulcooking You can say that again! This was my jam and it's the only song I remember Bernard Wright by. I never heard of "Who Do You Love" until LL Cool J and Shades did their songs over it. Finally got to hear it thanks to YouTube.
That can't be true - Nard was just doing his own thing in Jamaica Queen's with the musicians there - Rod Temperton formed his sound with Heatwave which is how he came to Quincy's attention; chronologically it's not possible for Nard to have influenced Rod. They're both great regardless of how they created their signature sound though!
Is it just me, but it seems like Michael Jackson may have been a fan of his. The chorus of the song "Spinnin" has similarities with MJ's "Thriller", and in this song the drum in the beginning and other pieces sounds like Billy Jean?
I am a1981 graduate from Flint Northern High School.,and this song helped me to graduate ,since I was out of state and had lots of friends aand family, Hallieuh,Patricia.
YOU ARE SO IGNORANT, YOU PROBABLY COULD NOT SPELL HALF THE WORDS YOU HAVE USED. PEOPLE LIKE YOU NEED TO BE RAN OVER, AND THROWN OFF THE PLANET SO WE CAN BREATHE FRESH AIR WITHOUT THE HATERISM. DON'T HATE CAUSE A BLACK PRESIDENT IS RUNNING THIS SHIT YOU LITTL SISSY...TAKE THAT OUT OF YOUR MOUTH AND COME AGAIN YOU LITTLE DOUCHE BAG,
You can really hear his connection to Tom Browne and stroking the keys in "Funkin' for Jamaica". He couldn't have been more than 18 when he put this out.
Take notes, youngins...Bernard is proof musical skills can pay the bills. His singing is a different story, lol!
@harenchi Thanks! I really appreciate the info. I figured he was between 16-18. He had a lot of responsibility at a young age--and a lot of dough...not to mention freaky chicks to spend all that green on, lol!
This was the first of some really good music, regardless of the singing, which ain't that bad.

This is like a mix between 'funkin for jamaica' and 'electro-cuties'
lothaire23 3 months ago
@lothaire23 you hit the nail on the head. I would even go as far as "pot sharing tots" and funkin' for jamaica.
