i dont get it....you install the hardwood pieces by attaching them together instead of founding them to the floor somehow? U only have the under-bed of that red stuff underneath, and the only thing keeping the wood together is the glue? 1. is the glue strong enough? and 2. if its not strong enough isnt it going to lead to spacing between the wood panels over the years? as well as noise and snapping under weight?
This has got to be the best video with each step explained in detail about how to install an engineered floor. Really helped me in designing mine. Would welcome more like this.
The only mistakes I see in this are 1, not using a rip fence, hit a problem spot and blade could suck your hand in. Secondly, when cutting the vent he used the saw to cut the entire thing instead of cutting proud of the intersection and sweetening it up with a jig saw, now there is going to be a 1-2 inch area under the wood that is weakened by the blade cutting underneath the line. Nothing serious but an observation.
OK so these guys are showing some great tricks... how to mark and cut around the vents... taping the planks together to hold them while the dry.... mixing planks from boxes.... builidng the floor and fitting back to the wall. Great stuff. I can tell they do this for a living
I would never re-use the old metal vents! They are very ugly to look at, especially after such a nice wood floor installation! Spend a few bucks and get a wood vent. It's well worth it!

Why not use engineered wood with the snap lock so you don't have to use glue?
