I think its sad to see Olga here.. she looks like she just doesn't want to be there :( I've always prefered Olga to Nadia.. even though she's great too, but I like Olga better :)
@huff222 She didn't want to be there. She has said this in many interviews but she felt she had to for the team gold. She has said for her this year practically did not exist.
@huff222 Olga actually said that she did not want to compete in the Olympics of 1976 and that in her mind those olympics do not exist, she had to compete to help the team win gold. I guess she was forced to do it one way or another idk.
@Samyaza69 Harsh.... well.. first of all.. I'm not a looser.. second.. I never said that Olga was better than Nadia.. I just said.. I prefer Olga to Nadia.. and that I (read again) I like her better... It's a matter of opinion.. nobody can tell me, that I have to like Nadia more than Olga, just because Nadia got the perfect 10!
why is it that you will see more gymnasts scoring 10.0's in college meets and also back in the 1980's, and you have a very slim chance of seeing a gymnast get a perfect score now days? you see 10.0's in college meets now days even, or the equevalent of a 10.0,(sorry i cant spell very well) but in national meets like worlds or olympics you will never see a perfect score? i know that it is not that the gymnasts are any better than the other because they are all really good ,. so what is it?
Olga's beam was absolutely incredible!!!!! I had heard she had done a two legged backhand spring to korbut flip and her back tuck at '76 but had to take it out because of her ankle injury, so this must have been from team optionals, first two legged back handspring on beam WOW!!!!
That was Tourischeva and IIRC she was in her 20s. That was her third Olympics and she was happy that the judges overscored her enough to win the *Bronze* Medal. Ungureanu should have beaten her handily. Beautiful gymnast, but such a shame they basicallyhanded her the Bronze over a better gymnast at those games.
I'm so glad it was joy. When I saw the video, I had thought she was miffed at missing the gold. As a young man, I first saw her on TV at the '72 Games and fell madly in love with her. Despite her being "one of your hard core commies" per Dr. Strangelove, I looked forward to seeing her at the 1976 Games and thought she was wonderful. I remember being heatbroken, when I learned that she had married the famous sprinter Valeri Borzov.
She said that she didn't want to compete in 76 at all.
But she had to take part for the team gold. It's a a very dramatic contrast btwn fresh Nadia and tired Olga. Nelly Kim's vault and FX were superb. She scored 10s for each.

Was this AA? If so, how could Nelly Kim win the silver with a fall?
KarenLovesGymnastics 3 years ago
before the new life ur team score was added to ur aa score. it helps cushion a fall.

The fall happened in the Event Finals.

It's hilarious at 1:10 when Olga mounts, the music goes perfect with it. That happens in a lot of routines too!

Thanks. Though Olga obviously has lost interest in this sport, she still charmed the audience at the 1976 Olympic
