I've been playing for six months. Just come across your Clip and Web Page. Love ya work. Thank you for instructions that are accurate and precise. I have been able to pick up and play this song comfortably in a very short time.
I can't follow this without the tablature but watch your lessons often and will try to play with the tab. I like your teaching and thank you for doing this! Anyway, I am a beginner and play a Deering Good Time and it works well for the likes of me (plus I'm a woman and appreciate the manageable size). When my ex moved out, he left the banjo (a gift from me) behind as a parting stab. And what a gift that stab turned out to be.
I have a Goodtime too and I love it - especially for the weight. The main thing with this song - and all songs really - is to hear the timing. You know the melody. Sing it first and then try to make the banjo sing it. If you have specific questions just shoot me an email.
It all depends on your budget, but I just bought a Deering "Goodtime" banjo and like it very much. I was looking for something a lot lighter than my Gold Tone "Orange Blossom" The Goodtime is pretty inexpensive, very light for a banjo, and has a nice tone.
This is AWSOME.. I have tried to find the tabs for this song. Just printed it from your web site and gonna try and learn it :) thank you for this post man :)
I Really Like Watchin Your Videos, I Always Come Out With Something To Play,Or Didn't Even Think About, Thanks, Don't Change A Thing. Just Keep Them Rolling!!!

What kind of banjo do you recommend for a beginner? I've been playing guitar for 10+ years but am interested in learning banjo.

I tried it yesterday, but I think it will take some time for me to get it going.. hehe.. it was accturally a pretty hard song..

Concentrate on hearing the melody with good timing and accent. The rest will fall in place around the melody.
