  • wen am done with highschool ima take lessons

  • amazing...i so wanna be an manga artist but in my country ppl look at me like get a real job dumazz =.=

  • I have to ask, but how did you import your Manga Studio Page into Photoshop? I've tried but it comes out pix elated. Is there a specific setting you use in Manga Studio so it wont come out Pix elated when it's opened in Photoshop? I really need an answer, I've been trying to figure this out for a really long time.

  • Thanks this really helps me! ^_^ what's the song name?

  • :O

  • Great videos! Nice song too.

  • @nayli1000 thanks for the kind words! :D *the author in other account*

  • I just read your comic and it was amazing!!!! How long did it take for you to draw that way, because your drawings are amazing!!!

  • @crazedzombiemonkey Each page took me between 5 and 8 hours :'D

  • I really dont see how manga artists put out 2/3 pages a day and still have a life T_T

  • @WickedexProductions *the author in other account* when I draw I don't really have a life besides eating and going to the bathroom :D

  • From step 2, I just wondering how you got that forest looking background pretty awesome.

  • @beetlebutterfly using different screentones and scratching with the eraser tool to create light :)

  • Do you have to do this step in Photoshop?

    Please reply :)

  • @coolrightsweet One would think that MS has all the necessary tools for the font effects for the manga (given that MS IS a manga program, after all). I think the uploader might be like me in that he/she familiarized him/herself with PS before MS, so using PS in this step is just easier than figuring out all the stuff in MS.

  • @bobstepheles Okay thank you

  • can u make a tutorial in coloring anime in photoshop cs5?thank you

  • @MrPuchikita I don't have cs5 sorry, and I don't color in Photoshop either. I use SAI for coloring :)

  • This is awesome! I was just wondering why you do the type setting in Photoshop and not in Manga Studio. Please let me know thanks!

  • @johnzw89 because Photoshop lets me play around with the text and it's easier to type in text boxes. MS doesn't open text boxes, making you type enter each time you want to get to the next line. You can also manage the spaces between lines and letters in Photoshop. In short, Photoshop is more dynamic thanMS for typing :)

  • your manga has good art

  • where do u learn to use this software?

  • @foreverkhin I learnt by experience :) playing around with the tools and also looking at online tutorials for certain things.

  • ooooooh he's BLIND!

  • i took a glimpse at your webpage and i really like it :) thanks for the tutorial

  • OOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH .. I can't say any word .. YOU 'RE AMAZING .. THANK YOU VERY VERY MUUUUUCH ..

  • I keep having problems with the backgrounds. When I try to set different styles to each panels it doesn't want to! How to set individual settings for each panel?? Recently got manga studio and I have little help. Plz and thankQ!

  • @FriendlyFooFighter What exactly are you referring to? I used photoshop to add text because MS doesn't have settings to change styles.. If you mean background tones then I think it's better to paste tones in different layers, each panel with its own layers.

  • This is so amazing!!!! It's practically pointless for me to be a manga artist, if i have competition like you haha

  • @BuizelBoy32 haha, look at hiro mashima, creator of rave master and fairy tail. His early work in rave master was poopoo compared to how he is now with fairy tail, and still isnt as good as this guy. yet, the reason being is probably because he has to do 2 pages a day, and probably has to do them in an effective time.

  • you can also do this in manga studio right?

  • @cherrychan209 yeah, but I think Photoshop is more dynamic xD

  • what would you say that the best program for drawing in general which includes color inking blending etc is

  • @mahmoudlez hello, this is Heldrad in another account.. I don't really know since I use 3 programs.. Manga Studio is the best for manga, Photoshop is the best for editing, and SAI is the best for illustrations.. But if you want to draw colored pics then I'd suggest getting SAI :)

  • @herusensei i gave up on manga studio cuz i just cant handle the blocky unsmoothness that you get when you sketch, can you fix that in anyway i like the toning and how it easily creates manga panels i just cant get over the line art

  • i love it so much!!! i wanna be able to do stuff like that!!!! >.< i'm looking for a good tablet for this. i'm about to read ur manga:)

  • your manga looks interesting!! better go and read it now! ^^ haha

  • How do you prepare a Manga like this?

Do you paint it previus on paper? With the Layers? ^^°

    Sorry about the questions :3

  • @Crysetha I started sketching directly on the computer, then I added a different layer for the inking and others for the toning.

  • @Heldrad Okay thanks ^_^

  • @Heldrad can you help me, im having problems with toning and placing a background o

  • wow ive never seen anyone this good your the best at this :D

  • good job!

  • question how long would it take for you to finish one book ?

  • @MegaHAZE21 a book? well, since I'm not a pro and I don't draw all day long I can't tell you for sure... but I took around 6-8 hours in each page, and if a book is about 200 pages... do the math :) a lot of time.. lol I've never finished a 200 pages book, FYI, but this story was 40 pages and I took 3 months to finish.

  • @Heldrad holy crap i got a lot alot to do (my book's atleast 200 pages)

  • @Heldrad

Well, curses then. I am working on a project that is about 106 chapters with the average of 16 pages each... I had somewhat hopped that I might finish it within 5 years but it seems like it is going to take longer than that ^^,

Anyways... nice work, really good work on the details and thus. Really would like to be as good as you on these programs, but without hard work there is little hope for good art eh? ; ) (really need to study them better)

Are you on DeviantArt by any change?

  • @Heldrad Cripes, and I thought I was the only one that takes my time, but anyhow I'm glad I found you!! ^^

  • @Heldrad can you help me, im having problems with toning and background. i understand that all i have to do is drag and drop but it would appear but then either a portion of it would be cut off or it'll repeat itself like a pattern. which i do not want. can you tell me step by step how to insert a background without any problems? i have window vista pc if it makes a any difference...thanks

  • good job!!!

    I'LL READ YOUR HISTORY!

    thanks!

  • all that work for ONE page of MANGA...respects and likes

  • awww mannn i wanna be as good as u ur the best ive seen so far with a plot characters and everything else.i can only can do stuff on paper thou i got the Manga studio debut 4 i hope i can im not dumb enough to use it lol. FYI i subd =^.^=

  • Ehhhhhh?! Is this a real manga your working on!? HOW CAN I SEE AND READ IT!?!

  • @JodieIshmael1212 yeah! ^^ It's called Forest Dew and you can find it at smackjeeves (dot) com

    THANK YOU!!

  • if one day i reach 1/3 of your level i'll consider myself the best... ^_^

  • @blowinmindsup that's so sweet of you! thank you ;u;

  • alñsdkfasd

    ire a llorar en una ezquina, eres demasiado genial! bien... tendre que mejorar ; w ;

  • your work made me cry

i wish i can reach ur level

  • @makichan26 thank you ;u;

  • So, I have a question! When I export my file as a PSD, manga studio seems to think it's not cool to export the panel borders with it. What am I doing wrong?

  • @RinzRingtail umm.. I really don't know why it's doing that.. To be honest I don't use the panel maker, I draw them myself with the line and rectangle tool because I never liked it and I prefer to do more dynamic panels... I tried using it and had the same problem.. So lame.. Sorry, I can't help you with that D:~ You should just draw them yourself if you can't figure it out

  • Where do you get scripts? And do we HAVE to resize and rotate it?

  • @IPWNED I have the scripts already written down in a notebook~ You can resize the picture if you want to post it on webcomic sites, otherwise it's not necessary... Rotate the text? Only if you want it to look dynamic and expressive.. but it depends on the mood of the scene or the expression~

  • @Heldrad So you translate your own mangas? I heard you can get scripts from IRCs but I can't do that. Also I learned from the Idiot's Guide to Editing Manga that you should rotate the whole image to get straight lines. So do we need to do that? And is having a translator a MUST in order to edit mangas?

  • @IPWNED Oh, you must think I'm editing someone else's manga.. No, this is my own story ^^ I wrote it and drew it myself. If you want to edit manga from japanese authors I suggest having a translator, unless you want to translate it yourself.. You need to rotate images when you scan them and they look a bit crooked.

  • @Heldrad Oh I see. And Holy cow, you drew this yourself? It looks freaking professional.

  • @IPWNED thank you! xDD

  • Wouldn't it have been better to add the text before you shrunk it? That's what I've always been taught, anyways.

  • @RinzRingtail I was typing at 50% of the real page size~ so I didn't resize it before typing.. or you meant before cropping it?

  • @Heldrad nono, I meant that I've usuall seen people do all of their text before they resize, rather than after. Something about the way the text resizing being better or something

  • @RinzRingtail OHHH! yeah.. I resized it because I was going to post it on a webcomics site... Then I realized I shouldn't have done that, because I had to re-type the text on a bigger resolution anyway.. lol But I do it the right way now! *this comic was finished 2 years ago... i still had too much to learn*

  • A very helpful video :)

However, i'm having some trouble getting those white edges around the words. You got them by going to layer>layerstyle>stroke, and picking the colour white. I'm using photoshop elements 7.0 (swedish version), and it seems that it's a little bit different for me. I can't do it the same way you did. Do you know if there's another way to get this to work with photoshop 7.0, or would i have to use another program/later version of photoshop? Thanks!

  • @EternityAsIn3Seconds Looks like you have to do this: In the Editor, select the area in the image or a layer in the Layers palette.

Choose Edit > Stroke (Outline) Selection.

In the Stroke dialog box, set the color

    Hope it helps!

  • @Heldrad Thanks a bunch! It seems i'm able to do exactly as you said, but the problem is the option is not clickable :S What i did was i just wrote something, accepted and tried out what you told me to, but it wouldn't work. Then i tried to select the text both with the marker tool and with ctrl+alt, but that wouldn't work either for some reason. I'm certain i was working with the right layer. Have any idea what i might be doing wrong?

  • @EternityAsIn3Seconds Maybe you just need to rasterize the layer... try to right click the text layer and click on Rasterize type, or go to Layer > Rasterize > Type ~ You should be able to do it that way. That's what comes to mind atm... hope it helps!

  • @Heldrad yay it worked! :D

Thank you so much for helping me out ^^

  • I see, so the character with the black hair is blind and thought the dude in the poncho was an animal or something right? Very nice drawing my friend! : )

  • @kragoon Yes! That's how it is xD

    Thank you!

  • is that a yaoi manga?

  • What photoshop do you have???

  • @MsLittlegreengirl this isn't photoshop...is manga studio.

  • Genial!!

    Me encantooo

  • I would like to know what fonts you used for this page.

  • @Streamer255 It's called Anime Ace. You can find it in font websites~

  • ye, hey i just wanted to say your awsome, so thanks for being awsome.

  • i love your vids! i still dont understand how to tone and add background to panels without affecting what you've drawn! how do you do this??? I just got ex 4 and as you can tell am a newb at it =P help?

  • @oOxCaramelxOo you can just select the area with the lasso or rectangle selection tool.. then just paste the tone inside. The extra borders can be erased manually with the eraser.. That's what I do as well..

  • awesome!! first I was worried how can I type with manga studio , It's too hard but I think I will do your way and do it with photoshop

  • have you published your manga yet ? cos I am new in that and I want your advice

should I re size the page after I finish my work ? or it should be before add tone and stuff, because not all company have the same size in manga page

and is it right to make the page 12.5 / 19 cm ?

  • @subaru2022 No, I haven't published this.. lol Sorry, I don't know about the comic companies' requirements..

I suggest resizing after you've finished everything...

  • wow!! that was awesome!! love the way of how u make a manga.

  • wait2!!!!! I read your comic! And its a gay love story!??? OHHH CMON!

  • hHhhHhhahahahaahahaah eeew

  • You can color in all of them--old and new, but it would be more of cell shading type of coloring ;\

The lastest EX (4) you can kinda 'smear' and make it look painting-ish but it's more for cell-shading

  • i have photoshop cs3, i look for anime ace and it isnt there, are there modes the type has to be on to get it?

  • you have to download it. Look for it in google~

  • what wuz the type setting u used for dialog?

  • your really good ! so could you tell me if on manga studio you can colour and write .

  • you can type, but you can't color~

  • you can't color?

  • no, it doesn't have coloring tools~ but I'm not sure about the newest versions.

  • Is Manga studio free? O.o

  • No, it isn't ^^~ But you know how internet people love to make those things free :D

  • you need to download it with crack.. try looking for it.. that's how I did it, but I don't remember the site, so I can't help you any more than this, sorry.

  • yeah, I downloaded them for free. I don't remember the sites, but if you google them I'm sure you'll be able to find them.

  • I would read it.. but it looks like the "guy love" type.

  • Good, but, what font you use for the normal text?

  • it's called Anime Ace

  • ah! i thought you only use manga studio, hehe, (though i really hoped photoshop can read that type of file) and it does! thank you man :D

  • you are soooo amazing!!!!!!!!! Hopefully I can be as good as you!!!!

  • Really? That's unusual o-o.. Did you check in all the folders there?

  • Why are you typing the text in photoshop? Isnt it possible to get the text in manga studio?

  • Yeah, but I prefer Photoshop, since it has more options to make sound effects and modify the text appearance.

  • i have a question bout the manga studio

is it free or does it cost somethin?=

  • You can find it for free if you look around the web..

Otherwise look for it at amazon or ebay.

  • do u know how to get it free?

  • ok... that was awsome! ^.^ loved it so much i think ill go read ur manga :p. lovely what u do!

  • sweet stuff

  • what font were you using for the main text?

  • anime ace

  • hey, did you draw this digitally or did you scan it? its really good! i have a question though, i want to make word bubbles on manga studio but i have no idea how, i looked in the help menu, and that doesnt help at all. can you help me? please!

  • digitally~ thx!

I drew them with the ellipse tool and some others hand-drawn~ I also don't know how to make bubbles otherwise.

  • oh ok thanks! how long did that take you by the way?

  • the page? around 8 hours or so <_<

  • nevermind so it's photoshop CS2?

    lol when i had photoshop i couldn't find that manga studio o.o;

  • liked the videos ^^

I will go and read this raiht away :)

  • what kind of photoshop is this?

  • CS2

  • thank you :)

  • I love this song! ^_^

Anyway, you are really good at putting together a manga page.

I do things a little differently... For example, I make my onomatopoeias (sound effects) -- which are Japanese rather than English -- in Adobe Illustrator, export them, then paste them onto my page.

But your way is good, too. ^_~

  • dude can u send uyr file of manga studios plz

  • This is amazing! How did you learn to draw anime so well? Do you take a college course?

  • Oh, no! n.n I learnt by myself! Many years of practice! heheh thank you!

  • it took me forever to find someone making a full page of a manga. thx 4 posting

  • the song kicks arse!

  • I love this!!! Is the song by Steve Contre??

  • yes! The Garden of Everything, by Steve Conte and Maaya Sakamoto <3

  • Nice choice ^.~

  • well, I don't really know how to write in the videos..I'm new to all that... I'm going to make a static tutorial, with screenshots and written step by step instructions so that it's more understandable. It takes more time to make, though.. So I'll probably post it in my deviantart account at a later time.

  • thank you. srry for the trouble.

  • just to let you know, I already posted the static tutorial in dA :)

  • can you make a tuturial from it or whrite in your vids how you did it?

    im still confused.

  • cool! yay first comment ^^ Anyway do you use a tablet? If so what type... again that was awesome ^^

  • Yep! it's a cheap Acteck one xDDD, but everyone says the Wacom are the best.
