Twilight is shit, but this move wasn't much better really. It had terrible acting, terrible chopped up story in comparison to the books, the music of this movie was about the only thing that made it worth watching, the music was amazing. Even Ann Rice was horrified with this movie, after that she decided she would never give out her books for movies ever again. HOWEVER Interview with the vampire was amazing.

It IS a good film and is already a CLASSIC. What the hell do you know about making movies anyways? Not one thing I'll bet. The acting was phenomenal for BOTH leads and it is also what put Stuart Townsend on the map. And so you know, I have read the ENTIRE Vampire Chronicles series since 1994 and they did a fantastic job trying to narrow down such a broad spectrum of Rice's story. Personally, I thought Rice's third installment was a difficult read of all the Chronicles. So please.

The 2 series do NOT compare. Both are good, but as far as vampires go, I have to say that Anne Rice has to be the best, Stephanie's vampires are different, and likable. But, there is Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series. I must say, Sherrilyn Kenyon's "vampires" are the only one's (since Anne Rice's, beginning in '85), that I anticipate the next one. I read the first 18 in 3 months, now waiting for more due in 2010. I bought all of Anne Rice's when released. I read Twilight series in a month.

Yes I must agree, QotD was a great movie. Much more so than IwaV. Personally, I'd have chosen Brad Pitt for LeStat, Tom Cruise so did not fit as LeStat. Not in height (having to film him closer to the camera than Brad, as Louis was shorter than LeStat (Brad being about 6' and Tom being around 5'8"). I have read all of the Vampire Chronicles, and Witches Chronicles I loved the way the last 3 of both were actually tying them together (Merrick, Blackwood Farm, and Blood Canticle). I disagree with you, Lestat in anne rice's view is a more refined being, Tom Cruise pictured Lestat exactly how anne rice imagined him to be. stuart townshend just pictured the brutality of what we call the vampire nature. Maybe he is more good looking than Tom, but Cruise had by far the best interpretation.

Tom Cruise played the version HE wanted to portray, made the directors and such change the sex of some characters, so he did not appear gay, I honestly can not imagine anyone worse as LeStat, than Tom Cruise. So, I bought the movie (both of them) out of respect for Anne Rice, but what was done in rewriting the history for QotD, undermined understanding exactly why LeStat was the way he was because of the way Magnus turned him into a vampire not Marius
