@Cumf4rt Thats like saying I don't like classical music because it's too complex. Fair enough if you don't like it, but to say it's emotionless? If you don't feel it, doesn't meen that they / I and a shit load of other people don't feel it. You should give it a go, I love death metal bands like Demigod and Tech bands like Gorod, best of both worlds!
@Cumf4rt Okay, I can understand Necrophagist and Braindrill, but The Faceless actually have composition in their songs. They are an example of what technical death metal needs to be. Not too over the top, but still showing musical prowess.
this band is sooooo good. i got them on tape and been listening to them for the last 17 years or so. never bored of this death metal heros. pity their later stuff is not that good
@MaskOfSanity999 It is EXTREMELY difficult, and you will likely end up paying well over $100 for a CD of it, but I just bought the cassette tape for $15.
@MaskOfSanity999 ye help me out on this one too guys, also anybody know where to get a copy of Messiah, Choir of Horrors , some amazing music is so hard to find, its all mainstream bullshit, kinda sucks
@TexasThrashMaster Why do people from Texas have to tell everyone that everything is bigger in Texas just to hide the size of their disgracefully disformed and flaccid penises?
@satanblessmegadeth you know what....maybe it is :|. and do you think big words make you smart..? i bet your some 40 yr. old fat ass living with your mom lol. i said nothing about anything bigger in texas...texas sucks...but the metal is godlike. PRAISE ALAH
@TexasThrashMaster I don't use big words because I think they make me smart, I use them because I'm not a childish neanderthal like yourself. And something tells me if you truly thought Texas sucks, you wouldn't be flaunting it around via Youtube username.
I hate to let you know, but all of us who were around for these scenes in the late 80s and early 90s of metal are all in our 30s and 40s. So all your favorite bands of from back in the day are all that age. Rethink your thoughts.
I can't stand the "death" metal of today. It's all Cannibal-clones, all pure aggression (might as well just listen to punk for that) with none of the dark atmosphere that gave DEATH metal its name. By the way, though, the band Death is still worth listening to, especially considering that nearly every death metal band in existence was inspired by them, particularly the album Scream Bloody Gore.
@adnihilis Of course. Scream Bloody Gore is essential listening. Although I prefer many other albums to it, it is historically very important for bringing a face to death metal. If I want to listen to the kind of stuff on Scream Bloody Gore though, I'd rather listen to an album like Severed Survival by Autopsy. Maybe it's because I think Chris Reifert is really awesome. (I think his drumming on Death's debut was awesome too.)
what was wrong with ScorpioX19's comment? America has great bands... Death's first 3 albums...need i say more? what else, there's morpheus descends, autopsy, old suffocation, obituary, old morbid angel, broken hope, all fuckin sick bands from the US of A. am i gonna get a thumbs down on this comment? like i give a shit.
yeah, you're right. but the first three albums represent the death metal sound. everything after spiritual healing started getting really progressive and abandoning the "brutal" death metal style. don't get me wrong, i do like all the death albums, just not as much as SBG, leprosy, and spiritual healing.
I agree. So many bands to mention ... Immolation, Nocturnus ... absolutely fucking incredible bands. Most people i 've met don't have a problem with bands, most have a problem with fucking social beliefs maybe and it mistakenly affects their taste on music. Nevertheless, demigod kicks serious ass
You are right sir, America was mandatory in the development and inception of the Death Metal genre. Don't forget Master, Incantation, Goreaphobia, Monstrosity as well. Fuck, add Possessed and Slayer to that list as far as influences go. Death Metal would not exist the way it does today without American bands.
This is fucken killer and one of my favourite bands. I see another band from Australia has copied the bands name which is annoying. Old school extreme metal is always the best. Great band, album and song. Hail Demigod \m/
Yeah, it's kind of unfair. There is even a New York Black metal band named Pestilence nowdays. But what can you do. We just have to remind people, which one was the first and better of those two.
For me the old school European bands (death, thrash and black) from the 80s and 90s were and always will be the best. The American style just seems to lack that special something, not just in the riffs and songwriting but in the production as well.
There are good bands from both scenes. But I guess you prefer the typical Sunlight sound to the typical Morrisound production, which is cool. I listen to Demigod, Morpheus (Descends), Fleshcrawl, and Infester in the same day. It's all fucking sick death metal, which is all that matters.
But this album I can't seem to stray away from it for a minute. The riffs are just so good. Then you listen to new Demigod and ask yourself, man guys what happened? Oh well, never be able to top off something as genius as this.
Unfortunately ,to some, it needs some introduction. Not me though:"Slumber of Sullen Eyes"is one of the best DM albums that have been or will be ever made in Finland \m/ ( Maybe it didn't sell so well, because it had a half naked DUDE on the cover, instead of a hot chick ? the Metal community is still dude dominated )

This album is yet another argument for the awesomeness of good death metal. I'd rather listen to this than Death or Cannibal Corpse.
A mystical and pummeling masterpiece this album is. I also recommend Adramelech's Psychostasia and Pure Blood Doom.
