  • i always listen to "the righteous and the wicked" so i can listen to the end count into "give it away" (:

  • Straight FUNK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I used to hate this song...what a dumbass I was

  • they just don't make music like this anymore...

  • Fuck the dislikes!Oh,wait...

  • 'Im with you' can't hold a candle to this...not even the same band!

  • Me and my bro love this song so much we screamed it to cars stopped at a red light hahaha sucha fucking great song

  • Old RHCP and new RHCP is 2 different bands

All the lyrics changed all the rifs...

But what same with RHCP is they best bands all the time!

  • @RHCPRocks1984 You're right, even Chad himself said they're a totally different band now, but they're happy with that, and so am I, I can just flick on this album when I've got a funk flow, or I can switch to By The Way for a chill, without having to change bands, sometimes, inconsistency is bliss.

  • A Haiku:

    Sitting in my cube

    Mindlessly Working, This Song

    Transports Me Far Away

  • @tulanekid How about "Transports me away" because the way you have it is 5-7-6.....good try though

  • SO MANY PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE ARGUMENTS!!!

  • possibly the best song they have made

  • this song kicks so much ass..still...fleas bass lines are so tight

  • Metallica and RHCP on tour together now thats the show id bleed to see my two favorite bands

  • @CynicallyObnoxious That'd probably never happen, they're too different.

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW Maybe they could play on the same summer festivals?

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW It'ss happenning in Rock in Rio next week!

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW And that's why they SHOULD.... in fact what a great idea.... imagine a show with such diverse headliners as Metallica, RHCP & say for argument's sake, Rush on the same stage in the same night....... mind officially blown.

  • @westcoastgoose yes if that would happen my mind would blow up from the awesomeness!

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW Well, we had Lou Reed and Metallica (which was very shitty lol)

But Metallica and RHCP would be EPIC!

  • @CynicallyObnoxious and metallica also sucks

  • @YanksFan162 your opinion and i wont stop listenting to them so troll on

  • @CynicallyObnoxious if you have no problem listening to headbangers who think playing fast and heavy and writing songs about death and war makes them important to music and art in general, i wont try and stop you. i'll be listening to musicians/bands who have something significant to say with their music.

  • @YanksFan162 what makes them any less significant it all happens just because someone only wants to write about the happy bright side of life doesnt make one side less significant then the other its all preference and the chili peppers havent always written the happiest tunes

  • @CynicallyObnoxious its not about happy.its about not being constrained to one idea until you look like an idiot making it into music over and over again. war and death are two of the most cliche topics an "idignant" band can write songs about and metallica hasnt ever presented them in any special way. the same heavy metal and snarling, indignant vocals every time.you can listen to one metallica song and youve heard every rock song about death and war and destruction. no innovation, creativity

  • @YanksFan162 You just showed how ignorant you are of there music

  • @CynicallyObnoxious really? please explain.

  • @YanksFan162

You know, it's ironic; I've been reading your posts and you're complaining about how Metallica has nothing significant to say while you're listening to a band that writes 98% of their songs about sex. I love the Chili Peppers, don't get me wrong, they're one of my favourite bands of all time, but you really should think about what you're saying before shooting your mouth off.

  • @LeechHat And you further demonstrate your ignorance by stating that song lyrics account for everything a band has to say.wow. so i guess instrumentalists-brilliant artists like Miles Davis and DJ Shadow-have nothing interesting to say without lyrics, right? The Chili Peppers' entire image (the sexed up lyrics are only a part), especially their innovative musical punk-funk-rock genre mashup and and original nature of their music AS A WHOLE, say something significant.Mere words aren't everything..

  • @YanksFan162

You just invalidated every point you were attempting to make. I never said music was strictly limited to lyrics. I absolutely love instrumentalists. Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie; many of their songs have lyrics, many are instrumental. They're powerful and emotionally stirring. However, the point I was making, and the point you failed to see, was that you were attacking Metallica for their lyrics being unoriginal and insignificant while ignoring everything else.

  • @LeechHat no, I was attacking them for their entire image being insignificant and unoriginal. The instrumental aspects of their music carry the same ideas as their lyrics. Its all one big package. and it all still holds true.

  • @YanksFan162

Also, how can I further demonstrate my ignorance when that was the first reply I posted? Or are you so oblivious that you assumed I was the guy you were talking to before? Read, motherfucker. You got eyes, use 'em.

  • @LeechHat I confused you with the other guy. My ideas still hold true. Any actual response?

  • @YanksFan162

Any actual response? Sure. You're sixteen, you think you know everything, you're an arrogant little prick, and I can't actually believe how idiotic you are. How about that? Maybe when you grow up, get a job, get a life, get a girlfriend, a house and a car, you'll realize that when you were sixteen you lacked maturity, intelligence, and any sort of logic. I remember when I was sixteen; I was a fucking idiot. Every sixteen-year-old is. Also, I laughed when you called me naïve.

  • @LeechHat i hope you feel good about yourself now, although you didnt answer what I said: a band's influence and significance includes EVERYTHING they do. YOU misunderstood what I was getting at (thinking I was only talking lyrics) and now you act like I'm the idiot. age and experience has little effect on common sense. i doubt 20 years more of life will change my opinion about music.I feel like you actually agree with me, but are so excited to argue with a teenager that you overlooked it.

  • @YanksFan162

Plus, DJ Shadow sis not a brilliant artist. If you want a brilliant artist, look up Dizzy Gillespie, Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Glenn Miller... THOSE are brilliant artists. Techno does not count. For the sake of argument, I've listened to a few of his songs; piano loops and repetitiveness do NOT qualify. Your taste in music is SHIT if you think this guy is brilliant.

  • @LeechHat one of the most respected rock and jazz critics, and one of the pioneering music journalists of the 60s, Robert Christgau, thinks differently, if you want some backup: go to robert christgau . com (no spaces) and type in dj shadow in the search bar.

  • @LeechHat I'm 16 and I can honestly say I used to share your naive ideas. Then I graduated middle school. I can see it now. Using your reasoning: "the Beatles are awful. Most of their lyrics were silly love songs. Sgt. Pepper has a bunch of whimsical songs about nothing, right? What a pointless album ... For Whom the Bell Tolls has much more significance because it has lyrics about really emotional things. Yea man. It's real deep. OK, time to watch some NASCAR and crap open a Bud Light."

  • @YanksFan162

You're sixteen? No wonder you think you know everything. How old do you think I am, kid? And that wasn't my reasoning at all. You're a fucking idiot. I don't give a fuck about Metallica. I was pointing out that your statement was at best, ignorant and blasé, and at worst a demonstration of your incredible stupidity.

  • @LeechHat As to my "naive" comment, I apologize. I directed it at the other Youtuber I was discussing this with. You being the experienced adult you surely are, I would have hoped you would respond with more maturity.

  • @YanksFan162

I was calling it like it is. First, you confuse me with another person, then you contradict your previous statements and backpedal, elaborating to make your position more agreeable to those of us who have actual taste in music. I know how it works. Get a life, kid, there's more to it than calling down someone else because of their taste in music. Now, I realize I did that in my previous statement, but I was making a point. You obviously appreciate that music, I think it sucks. So?

  • @LeechHat i originally said, in my 2nd comment to the other person, " i'll be listening to musicians/bands who have something significant to say with their music." i didnt say lyrics, i said music. the fact that i went into a specific argument about lyrics cant change that. so im not sure how i backpedaled.....

  • @CynicallyObnoxious the fact that you completely ignored this argument and simply insulted me tells me you have no response to what i said. you, it seems, are the one who has little knowledge about what music is and should be. keep listening to bands that make you feel good about yourself and continue to live in your ignorant world where all rock is equal and good, and where the quality of music has nothing to do with it.

  • @CynicallyObnoxious That's stupid.

  • @CynicallyObnoxious They Toured with the Foo Fighters ones. But not together on stage they waited there turn and switched stages

  • @CynicallyObnoxious it did hppen, but tht ws bck in like 96' i think,

  • @CynicallyObnoxious I don't think they are because I seen them the other day. No Metallica

  • @CynicallyObnoxious Lol, they're my two favorite bands as well, but as RHCPFreak said, it'll probably never happen.

  • @ManInteractive Flea has played with them several times but and when did having different of styles of music touring together become bad lol the cult used to tour with Metallica when i was a kid the music industury is polluting music with dividing lines thats why we dont see unique festivals in this country like they have in europe

  • obivously the high point of RHCP this album.

  • i always do a little dance before i drink some water :D

  • awesome song

  • Comment removed

  • RHCP kicks serious ass!!!!

  • the best album! never get tired of their songs!

  • What is song about? I think smoking weed. think about it "give IT away" (the blunt). "everybody wanna KEEP IT like the kaiser" (nobody wants to pass the blunt). Just saying.

  • damn good guitar solo

  • 19 years fuckinb great album

  • can't believe this album is almost 20 years old, time flies

  • @whitepr43

Wild thing is that I was like 3 years old when it was released, but it still feels like it came out yesterday. It's just that damn fresh!

  • @mussman717word lol i didnt even born back then

  • @mussman717word Whats even more wild is these guys have been around just aslong as Metallica, not trying to compare to the two or anything, just saying

  • @pinkeyepork The RHCP are way more better then Metallica.

Anthony > James, John > Kirk (needless to say), Chad > Lars, Flea > Cliff (Even if Cliff is awesome).

  • @TheGroumpfy Like I said...I wasnt trying to compare the two I was simply saying they've been around just aslong as them

  • @TheGroumpfy Why would you compare Metallica to RHCP anyways? They're both great, with different styles.

John has a way different style than Kirk. Kirk is an amazing guitarist. John is too. Chad is a funky, awesome beat-type drummer, and Lars is a double-bass, metal drummer, with varying beats. They're both great too. Same goes for Anthony and James. Flea is probably the greatest bassist of all time, so there's no argument there. Don't compare things with no relation.

  • @rotom223 shut up. kirk is not an amazing guitarist. he plays fast. so does every retard metalhead who sits in their room listening to judas priest and sabbath 24/7. john's got soul, and he doesnt need to play fast to show it.

  • @YanksFan162 If you don't think Kirk is an amazing guitarist you need to try to play some of his stuff.

  • @RHCPFreaklolNEW guess what?i can (although i get nothing out of doing so) thats exactly why i think he sucks. Do you really think that what makes a guitarist good is how difficult his stuff is to play? how skilled he is technically?how fast he can play?wow, then i guess hendrix, bb king, clapton, and thousands of other rock and blues guitarists are much worse than kirk because his stuff is so difficult and he's so technically proficient.... guess what again: music is about soul, not technique

  • @mussman717word It's truly the most timeless album ever recorded, even Nevermind is still very 90s-esque.

  • @whitepr43 ikr? And this album is amazing.

  • @whitepr43 Older than I am! I feel like I'm so behind
