I actually really prefer range on he striker. Every other shotgun I use damage. Range on the striker makes it a lot better than damage. You can still get consistent one hit kills and with range you can start spraying from a farther distance.

so with that said if you hit an enemy farther away with damage you should kill him because u do more damage

and with range if an enemy is farther away you should kill him because u do more damage at longer ranges

i totally understand why xcal defends damage more than range. as for most of the bad guns xcal uses, they only have a set effective range. so as long as he plays within the requirements of his gun, he will more often than not kill with it, and using a damage proficiency just assures that he will kill even more often within those ranges. however if he uses the range proficiency,ull be attempting to go for ranges even further than normal, and most likely lose to guns that do better at those range

basically he's saying damage would make it so instead of taking 4 pellets it would take 3 but all range does is increase the distance at which the pellets travel. it doesnt decrease the spread it just increases the odds that you will hi someone with a pellet or two at a longer range
