There is an original "Sega Saturn Dream" option in the PS2 NiGHTS, if you prefer the old Saturn look and feel.

Are you playing this on an american PS2? I do not see any japenese letters on any videos of the PS2 version, so I figured you could play it on an american PS2.

Most of the in game menus are in English, the only Japanese in NiGHTS is in the Hints after you beat a boss, or when it saves to a memory card. Also I think the in-game documentation is also in Japanese. I own a chipped PAL PS2 and a legit Japanese copy of NiGHTS.
