@ChiBlackhaWKs99 I love Backstreets, too, but I would call it one the saddest songs he, or anyone else, has ever written.
I don't find it happy, per se, but it can be soothing. If the narrator feels that much pain, whatever pain I feel, I know I'm not alone. We all have dissapointments; failures - whether it be drug addiction, unemployment, a sick child. The causes are unique, but the feelings created are universal, & therein his his genius. He speaks to, and for, all of us. Brilliant song.
I saw him two nights later in Portland Oregon and this tour was awesome. Every song was awesome. Hey I was only 22 and saw him back in Jersey in 75 so every song reminds me of my glory days
This is the ulltimate song of conviction, and it alway's throws me back to eldridge avenue in the san fernando valley, by the foothills when I used to go see my girl Jeanette, oh she broke my heart too

The entire Winterland show can be heard at Wolfgang's Vault (google it). You have to register, but it's free, Thousands of shows, most promoted by Bill Graham, by hundreds, or artists and bands are available. Some, including Winterland, almost certainly one of the most widely distributed bootlegs in rock history (because the show was broadcast on a dozen west coast radio stations), can only streamed. Others can be purchased.
