Keef removes the 6th string for open G, that's the 'thick' string for you twang twats. Debate settled ok.
If, and this is a big 'if', he thought about it, he would leave the 6th string on and either also tune it to D giving a more prominant bass sound or he would tune it to B to give the illusion of 7 string blues. If this doesn't make sense to you please don't reply, just practice blues for another 30 years.
have that epi les paul. tryied it in open g, didnt get the soun i liked, yours seems a bit beter than mine, but id suggest some sort of fender (preferably a tele) for this one
@MrMarkmyword richards actually did play with 5 strings, but this guy did it wrong, he actually doesnt use the skinny E string, then tunes the guitar in open G tuning.
@BobDylansDream3 have you ever seen his guitar? thats the dumbest thing ive ever heard of. not using your high E? you have a natural high 5th if your using your high E and a easy route to a 7th note. keef says he doesnt use his 6th string, his LOW E, because it gets in the way.
@ripthisjoint908 okay whatever you say, first of all his name isnt keef? its Keith, and second of all if you want to play it wrong thats your problem. type in honky tonk woman and look how everybody else is playing it, and your wrong because ive seen interviews of him clearly saying "the high E is what I dont use". If your gonna argue with me at least get your facts right. and just take my advice.
@BobDylansDream3 dude your absolutly kidding me here. 1st off, us real stones fans just refer to him as keef. thats what keith calls himself and we've all kinda picked it up. 2nd off, your argueing something absolutly ridiculous. i'm right and your playing it wrong. thats obviously not what he says in the interveiw. i dont know if your just trying to joke with me here, but trust me i know what i'm talking about.
@BobDylansDream3 wait hold on. if we were talking about the same thing, you wouldnt have commented about this guy doing it wrong in the first place ;)

@ripthisjoint908 Wow i just realized we were talking about the same string, i was talking about the higher e on the guitar literally, my bad

@BobDylansDream3 ok haha. well that was a useless arguement then. i thought you meant like the high e as in the high pitched one. wow. fail.
