I served 32 years in UK fire service and must say the American rescue techniques are pretty shambolic, The guy should come out the window onto your shoulders and then we carry them down. Doing it the way they did, they were lucky not for one or both to fall .

@ntfd125 the guy wasnt even that bad he wasnt screaming or trying to climb out the window, they put him in alot more danger then he was already in by dragging him out like that, he wouldn't of died standing at the open window for another minute while they got up the stairs but he could of if he fell. We get trained to stay calm and take a step back to assess a situation before you go rushing in.

The smoke conditions that are present show that its a hell of a lot worse in the hallway than it is coming down that ladder. You don't take the victim back into the IDLH atmosphere unless you have to in which this case they didn't.

Everyone on the job knows to stay cool and ignore the comments from the haters. The funny part is the people in the worst neighborhoods do the most complaining but they have the best fire protection in the city. I worked in Brooklyn but I have lots of friends up in the Bronx and there's lots of great companies up there too. Regardless of what anyone says we are certainly the busiest, most aggressive department in the entire world.
I think by looking at it, that the smoke blocked the hallways so they couldn't leave the apartment or she might have been a little to big to get out of the window and wasn't sure if she could leave via the hallway or not.

Hearing the sirens, I assume the companies arrived about a minute into the video. So arriving, placing the ladder, forcing an iron gate open and having the victim on the ground in less than 5 minutes is fast.

all of the FDNY has yellow bunker gear but in new york, many of the private hospitals have their own EMS services that are not associated with the city. Honestly I dont work for the FDNY but I am assuming that the private services use orange to separate themselves from city firefighters/EMS

those projects are just about fireproof. the fire didn't make it out of the initial room, thanks to closed doors. once the window goes, it's like a flue. smoke, on the other hand, is a killer that doesn't care about venting too much.

They (Aux Fire/Police) are technicaly civilians trained to assist first responders during emergencies natural and wars.
The Aux Police are very well known but aux firemen are at about fifty who are running.
Many served during 911.

Everyone on the job knows to stay cool and ignore the comments from the haters. The funny part is the people in the worst neighborhoods do the most complaining but they have the best fire protection in the city. I worked in Brooklyn but I have lots of friends up in the Bronx and there's lots of great companies up there too. Regardless of what anyone says we are certainly the busiest, most aggressive department in the entire world.

Hearing the sirens, I assume the companies arrived about a minute into the video. So arriving, placing the ladder, forcing an iron gate open and having the victim on the ground in less than 5 minutes is fast.

I'm not sure but I think N.Y.P. stands for "New York Presbyterian" Hospital EMS. I'm from Connecticut and that hospital is always on the news..it wouldnt make sense if it was "New York Press". Do they have an EMS service lol

all of the FDNY has yellow bunker gear but in new york, many of the private hospitals have their own EMS services that are not associated with the city. Honestly I dont work for the FDNY but I am assuming that the private services use orange to separate themselves from city firefighters/EMS
