@FpSClanPS3 this aint dj shiftte bro its house music we really on making great music and sometimes mixing i think the only house guy who scratches are laidback luke chuckie and james zabieala
Why do I have this feeling Richie likes to make things more complicated than needed? :) Is all of that really necessary for relatively simple (in terms of arrangement/structure) tracks? Really, really hope to see him live doing it, tho.
@koneyn I think it has to do with, that, by making a system very complex you open up more possibilities, he can a greater veriaty of things with those tracks than just four
don't get fooled. he's using insanely much stuff, but he'd only need 3 or 4. 1 lemur, maschine, behringer controller and maybe iPad would be enough. Don't see why he uses 2 lemurs. I really love his music and his sets, but this kind of... stupid. I mean, deadmau5 could also use one lemur for each channel, instead he uses 1 (or 2 iPads atm) for 12! u get what I mean?
@cacophony1 I'd say you can't compare them, I like them both, personally. I just think Hawtin is really using more gear than he'd need for doing what he does. But who cares- he can afford it :p
@TheClarc But don't get me wrong, I think Plastikman is one of the most influential artists for EDM ever, and I love his stuff and already bought the Arkives.
I'd love to try to haul that giant rig around. Have fun plugging it all up when you get to the venue. Its even more elaborate than deadmau5's live setup!
The man is technologically eclectic which is very cool. He may not need such a large set up, but if it is fun for him then more power to 'em. I really appreciate how open he is with what materials he is using and how he is using them and I also have to say that he is very decent to his fans and is very approachable.
The guy at 2:35 looks exactly the way Richie Hawtin looked when he did the best Plastikman recordings (in the nineties). I think that guy is the REAL Plastikman!
@flabbygrowlers So the reason I cant get all the pieces together and produce a track after watching this is because I like trance? Dude, you are embarassing yourself.
and unlike alot other laptop shows whic are mabe taking two channels or four channels out we're running nearly the whole board here!!!!!! ahhahahahaahahahahahaahhaha wwwwooooooowwwwwwwwwwwww
nice setup but i think that the ipad is just for showoff, you can use an akai controler to control the shit out of Ableton. And i think that so much gear does give you amazing versatility which is what plastikman is known for.
@ArniieeCDJ Yes, you do. I was at the first one he did at Time Warp in Mannheim. It literally was THE most amazingly immersive experience. You can't criticise it unless you've experienced it.
@ArniieeCDJ well you can give a good show with only a laptop. But that's not very stimulating... Richie was always a megalomaniac artist and I see nothing bad with that. Rockers in the 80's didnt need fireworks on their concerts but they still used it..

@CitizenofTatooine This is not DJing. Its an actual live music performance. Much like a live band, except he is doing it with a modern twist.

@Voyagermusix
He shows just how technology can be used in a veru fkn'' creative way..
With one iPad on every channel "as you said' you have a bigger control and manipulation space as you have on one iPAD on every channel.
He does with music what he wants, that why it's sounds how it sounds.
TheClarc 4 months ago
@TheClarc What I'm trying to say is that he has one lemur with just 2 buttons set up on it. And I don't get that, sorry
