The first time I saw these guys was a Big Day Out and, at the end of an amazing set that included nude rollerskating and giant dancing sperm, they pulled this song out. I've never seen a more emotive, beautiful performance, particularly at a festival. This song was what made me buy their album. Just stunning.

Holy Crap! I just figured something out! I have seen this many times and love the song but I just realised, in the clip that at the start she is fine and healthy but he slowly damages her and at the end he is in the ambulance with her. He doesn't look sorry, he just looks like he likes her a lot and doesn't grasp the gravity of the situation. There is a lot said which is unsaid in this clip. This is a very special song.

As somebody who writes a lot of poetry, This song really touches on something special. "I finally wrote your song, another unsent letter. In a pile addressed to you, care of something, somewhere better". Dark emotions inspire creativity, troubled relationships inspire dark emotions. Not a new concept. But He nails it in its direct presentation. Another poem/song she will never see, another unsent letter. Its beautiful.He ties the distracted metaphor straight back to its origin and nails it!

I love this band, I was slightly obsessed during highschool and have seen them too many times to count. I was shattered when they broke up.. I still have my yellow MGF t-shirt that I bought at big day out 2003. Its all gross now but sometimes I wear it around the house for old times sake.

My all time favorite song.

I remember I listed this song as one of the saddest songs I have ever heard. I got the response "You do realise MGF are a parody band!" So because of their other songs they said this was basically shit because they aren't a serious band.

Coming out of my first big relationship. This song truly striked a cord for me. I will never see this song as funny or a piss take. In fact lyrics and tone it is heartbreaking. Their best song, Miss MGF! Great band.

@leeroyfromaus Actually, it's not an allegory for missed opportunity. It's, in reality, fairly literal. I read an interview with Pinky where he described the song as about being torn between two women and not being able to choose. He's admitted before that, with exception to lyrics that Tim Rogers helped him with, he was never very good at metaphors. All of those bent "metaphors" in their weirder songs are the result of drugs and nothing more. But I don't think that detracts from it at all.

I figure the story is this:

The guy (played by Pinky)'s girlfriend was in a car accident and is now comatose. In order to compensate, he's trying to move on - but can only do so if his lady friend's are all in bandages and stuff like the comatose g/f. But it doesnt work and he finds himself staying with his unresponsive love, even though she can't return his affection.

This song actually inspired my overseas travels, I lived overseas for 6 years after writing an unsent letter that I wanted to be too busy to dwell upon. The song came out right as I wrote a 3 page letter that I never sent to the guy it was too. Funny, eh?
