No I don't think Mr Kanei could handle Malaysian Silat...due to the fact he is dead...perhaps his son Kanmei Uechi could though...not that they would offer a chance to fight you.
You see...Karate is much more than fighting, it is about peace. We offer an open hand to friendship...even to those that are immature and wish to only fight...
See how he turned his body so naturally instead of the "modern" way of doing it. He turned his back foot first instead of crossing the front leg to the side and twist the whole body.
His upper body was not as upright/straight as the modern way but I think this is even more practical in real fight.
the reason for crossing your foot over on a turn should only be when going into a cat stance , at no other time should it be done. when turning into a sanchin dachi stance you should always turn your rear foot first and let the rest of you follow. it gives a more rooted stance quicker, anyone doubting this can try doing each turn while someone lightly pushes from different angles
I 100% agree with you but why nowadays people cross the front foot over (sanchin stance)?? Not only not practical but also looks very "robotic". Thanks for your guidance, osu!!
Sim...eu sei agora...qdo eu perguntei, tinham poucas semanas q eu tinha entrado no Karate...hoje eu conheço todos os katas da Uechi Ryu, embora saiba fazer apenas o sanchin, kanshiwa, kanshu e o seichin.
it may be a good idea to just disable the comment option for this video. the comments are ridiculous, and serve no purpose to this wonderful piece or Uechi history.
I dont understand why youve chosen this venue to berate one another ....I was excited to see this video and so disapointed to see that this was the commentary that followed it ..
now now, that's a bit unfair. your politics are yours, ours are ours, if they sometimes overlap, it's half your fault too. besides, most of us here are mere students, with zero control of politics.
This is my teachers teacher! My master trained for over 30 years with him, his name is James Wasiluskii! Uechi Ryu is such a fine martial art. Kept pure and traditional. Unlike so many of the fancy flipping and jumping around you see today. This syle makes it so that ONE hit can instantly kill a man. But one must control that.
i agree...there are alot of martial arts that have changed there traditional way of fighting and i don't agree with that.. i do shorin ryu and one of the reasons why i do it is because they havn't changed there martial art..they have kept the way it was when master shoshin nagamine was teaching it
hows about you reply to my comments since they are directed at me anyway. Well like i said, you can't resist replying because your too naive. I dare you be the bigger man and forget it, but that won't happen obviously. If you are too uptight to not leave this alone i will reply in two weeks as i won't be near a computer. And what does the comment "no friends" pretain to? That's such a broad topic.
Wow you just can't drop it huh? Well i knew you couldn't resist replying. YOu're too young and timid. As i called it, you're parinoid and cannot let the viewers think you backed down. Go ahead...reply, i dare you.
Kanei Uechi? You met Grand Master Kanei Uechi and you're only thirteen? When exactly did you meet him? I'm quite curious since he passed away in 1991.
how was i being an ass? YOu said something that i knew couldn't have been possible and i picked up on it. For all i know you could have been another kid running their mouth to impress someone by lying and i knew better.
I'm just a lowlife punk with inferiority complex? I love how you have to empower yourself by telling me i don't know what that means. That shows a great deal of insolence and insecurity on your part. Your not too sure of yourself and have to make sure you get your point across in the most conspicuous way. That's like a loser at a party telling a joke and then going through the punchline and irony after he milked his weak laughs from the victims. And are you afraid to say the word fuck?
That's kung fu right there, that is.
