My grammy used to sing this to me growing up. Can't believe I found this on here. Just looked it up on a whim. I'll be singing it to my babies and grand babies too :)
Hoss, I wouldn't trade my lil Rolly Polly Daddy's lil' Fatty for nothin' in this whole wide world. My daddy used to sing this to me and I sing it for my son and he demanded that we look it up here on youtube....It makes that boy grin from ear to ear. If it offends some then they can kiss my Rolly Polly Ass
The steel guitar player is Bill Johnson, who died on March 19th of this year, if I remember rightly. He was a terrific player with a rare sense of melody (C6 or E9). Listen to his solo "The Shoe goes on the other Foot tonight, to mention but one, crafty, tasty, clever, musical and a fine contribution to steel playing. Whatever he played, even if it looked simple, was not as simple as all that.
Not to mention Norah Jones and the Little Willies a couple of years ago. In fact, I was a bit miffed when their record came out, because I was playing Roly Poly in a western swing band at the time, and I didn't want people thinking we had copped it from them!

The song was a hit for Bob Wills in 1946 when Wilie Nelson would have been just 13. You are wrong with your claim sir.

Bob Wills made it famous, but it is not a Bob Wills song. The song was written by Willy Nelson.

Written by Fred Rose in 1945. I think he's the Rose from "Acuff-Rose' music.
