zinser bullseye 123 primer is a latex based product that will bond loose chauky surfaces and will also stop flaking edges. one of the only primers out there that does not require sanding for a strong bond, but I would still ate the very least wire brush then sweep the areas to be primed. or if you feel like a challenge BIN by zinser is also a good choice but it's awful to work with, it dries in about 15 minutes. good luck
You may notice a slight color variation when paint dries where the stucco is & the liquid nail is
If this is very obvious; apply a small amount of wallcrete cement over the liquid nail & overlapping existing stucco to conceal, next dab with a sponge to achieve stucco look.
[method works best when liquid nail is still curing]
Now the paint will show no lines of demarcation.
Your protected and no flaws show through the paint.. Finish off with water sealant as before. whala
Then fine seal all frame edges of walls where stucco meets wood or foundation as well as corners of house; with liquid nail... dab with sponge to achieve stucko finish. Then paint with a good weather seal paint and top spray with Thompsons water seal.... should hold for years..
added protection- Respray with water sealant at least every 2 yrs.
For a project of this magnitude; purchase liquid nail in gal. size can / paint on.let stand 10 -15 min then sponge dab
Oh yea, PVA is a sealer for interior drywall texture, it seals the drywall mud so it won't wipe off th wall after it is painted. it's great for washing your walls later on in the future..
I saw that you are from Fl. just buy a good 100% solid color full heavy bodied latex stain, latex stain is great paint for stucco, I have over 30 years Experiance and live in Calif. we have simular wether and I know it will last and hod up for years.
I dont know where you live but in California I would , just hose it off, dont pressure wash, you will open up a can of worms, maybe just the top mold areas. Next cut out all loose bad areas and lightly scrape peeling paint. spot seal with "PEEL STOP" glue sealer, use an Elastomeric stucco patch to only areas that really need it. do not prime but use VISTA Acribond flat 100% acrlyic solid color stain as finish, should last 25 or 30 years cost about $ 350.00 in materials.
powerwash complete then roll it with ben more latex exterior primer then roll or spray finish with ben moores latex moorguard satin finish color of choice tint primer to finish color or just call me.
