Not gonna lie, it took until the second verse for my to figure out it's in 4/4, because of the rhythm of the words. It's too early for music theory....

  • With a head full of snow everything makes sense yet it all eventually crumbles into fragmented bullshite upon sober self-reflection. It's a sick drug. All consuming. Self isolating. Avoid this road. It leads to nowhere fast.

  • I can't believe that I don't recall ever hearing this song before last night when I watched the movie by the same title starring Susan Sarandon, Dustin Hoffman, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Ellen Pompeo. In the movie, it was Ellen "Bertie's" favorite song, and now it's one of mine! I've listened and watched your video over and over again. The beat, the blend of instruments with Jagger's voice--wonderful! Glad you have it online.

  • @MoonlitGypsy I got it from that movie too! Best part of the movie.

  • Greatest Stones' balad!

  • The amount of skill presented by the drummer is greatly underestimated.

  • @Iverielii agreed he is a patient drummer who mixes off beat

  • @Iverielii his name is charlie watts...

  • I get chills from head to toes every time I hear this song. It's one of the most beautiful ballads I've ever heard. I listen to it over and over and over again...Especially when I traveled @ the US in my van quite a few years ago and when I die I want it played at my life ceremony on the top of a mountain, so I can hear it while I'm Riding Down the Moonlight Mile.

  • @mggapeach69 Yeah, I know what you mean! That coda at the end of the song is beautiful.

  • I'm a little surprised that you didn't use the Art piece 'Starry Night' by Van Gough, I thought it would go perfect with the song. Besides that, good job on the video! I love this song!

  • favorite song from my favorite Stones album. Played this almost every day from November 2004- March 2005. 17-18 years old.

  • This is my absolute favorite Stones song. Can anyone recommend any other songs like this one, by any band/artist? I've been using Pandora to find songs like this one, but I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations?

  • ..beautiful ...

  • Not a huge Stones fan, but I always enjoyed "Sticky Fingers", and IMO this the best tune on it! I also enjoyed your visuals, most happening! See ya just about a "Moonight Mile" down the road!

  • I wasn't giving Keith kudos for the song dude,I said after reading the book it revived my admiration of Keith (as a musician) AND the Stones. The guy got clean..but I'm commenting on their music, not their personal lives. The book reminded me just how many terrific songs I havent listened to in a long time. I tell you one thing, Keith is dedicated to music and the importance of a tight band.

  • my favorite stones song

  • Yes this is a very great song!

  • Whew!!...just finished Keiths book, "LIFE"...it really revives my admiration not only for Keith but the Stones as the BEST rock band in the WORLD man !! This song is so fine but so are so many others theres no way to chose a fav. Stones tune. Rock on my brothers..........

  • @citygirl116 I just got the book, haven't started yet. I am glad to hear another great review, thanks.

  • @elauraburnette Hello...let me know what you think of the book. Hope you like it as much as I did. 'bye for now.

  • @citygirl116 Keith? admirable? ha ha, a superb musician and a top RAT.

  • @citygirl116 Keith had nothing to do with this song ha ha

  • beautiful song!

  • Thank You For Posting. How many people around the world are listening to this at one time or another. Having a couple of beers or a drink or two. This is what it's all about.

  • @johnlen3 that's so funny that I'm doing exactly that but experiancing this song for the first time.

  • @johnlen3 I Agree. Thank you maxoschi, thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you... forever

  • Cozy chinese thing

  • I think this is the best Stones song.

  • the song is a masterpiece but congrats on a nice selection of accompanying images-though several paintings of Caspar David Friedrich would also complement it nicely...

  • i got silence on my radio.

    hitchhiker's anthem.

that guitar tuning sings to me like john fahey's american ragas under a freeway

overpass with some peanut butter, bread, and a map.

dodging the cops, watching the moon.

  • for stones and other 70's rockportraits check:

    adrenalin-art.proboards. com

    also paintings on request

  • My favo song EVER!!

  • I don't usually like the Rolling Stones, but I love this. Apparently they have music out there that I've never heard. This is a first.

  • @wistaria2010 I understand. The BEST that they recorded is on their albums...not played. Should have been. Almost all are AWESOME!

  • Mick Jagger and Mick Taylor worked so good together but eventually Taylor had enough for not receveing the songwritings credits he deserved

  • listen guys do we any body of us really know how great the stones were all you pretty boys nice guys say the beatles were the greatest band listen to this songand all the rest and pleases try convince your self first .

    graham cats

  • Thank You for Posting!! I forgot how good this song is. I am just about a moonlight mile on down the road. Awesome!!!!!!!!

  • hermoso

  • This a great Stones track for the classic "Sticky Fingers" and fortunately this was not overplayed and you knew it was close to getting up and changing the album because it would not stop automatically, at least on my turntable... i had a nickle taped on top..... pop, crakle, click, pop, crackle, click, pop,crakle,click..

  • graet stuff brother man, nice work on the vid, fkn dynamite takes me there to where I wanna be. thx mike

  • The answer is "She a Rainbow"! You can hear it in the very last seconds of the song.

  • Best Stones song ever! The stereo seperation is amazing! The piano sounds like a Steinway. At the very end of the song you can hear the melody of another famous Stones song, can you name it?

  • i am just living to be lying by your side that line alone makes this my favorit song it's just awsome btw the worst mistake the stones made was letting mick taylor leave the band just think how many more great songs coulda been written with him in the band

  • 3:33 the guitar licks still give me goose flesh

  • beautiful song !!

  • MAN, I couldn´t help but cry, remembering days gone by when i would listen to this magnificent song a lot.

  • amloadnel. Thanks for trying to tell all the experienced fans of this tune that Jagger played this solo. Don't disrespect Mick Taylor's fine solo for MJ's lyrics. Figure it out.

  • God Bless you Mick Taylor. Taz

  • Awesome

  • one of my favorite stone songs.......but then there are sooo many

  • I love this song, one of her best!!!

  • One of the most beautiful and sensual songs of all time.

  • About the "living/dying" lyric, I've always heard it as dying too. I know it's not correct, but I prefer it anyway.

"I am just living to be dying by your side" - what a great passionate statement..

  • One of the Best of All Time...........thanks

  • this is a great video to go with this great song

  • Actually I believe I read that Keith did contribute to this song. I think the basic melody comes from a "little Japanese thing" he was playing around with that Mick picked up. But I read a lead a lot of thing.

In any case, Jagger and Taylor really put together a wonderful tune.

  • Is this the only Stones song with no input from good ol' Keef?

    Great song.

  • This is really nice. Until recently I didn't know the Stones made this. I only knew of the cover by the 5th Dimension (which btw was awesome). Great to hear this...pretty FAB.

  • GREAT! thx

  • In the last verse, when he sings, "yeah eh...I'm coming home..cause I'm just about a monnlight mile...on down the road, down the road, down the road....ehhhhh...babe-eeee....ahhhhhh."

well, I nearly split me pants.

Trivia: kennedy airport, 1976. Guy at the bar. Brother, sis in law, me at table. I order drinks. guy is reading 'OUI' mag. I am reading over his shoulder.

short story, bodyguard come in, checks us out, guy gets up...it's Jagger. So...I had that happen.

  • @AmberDelta great snippet of writing - thank you

  • Awesome. Forgotten how much I love this song!

Tks for posting (very nice pics/composites, too.]

  • Awesome. One of the sexiest songs ever written.

  • a lullaby for the travelers on the road

  • I was watching season 6 of Sopranos-77-Kaisha--

heard this song and it just stuck......

  • Really, really nice job, maxoschi, prosit!!!!

  • This is not like a song. It's like an actually fantasy of love that kills the sad sad life.

  • This may be one of Mick's greatest vocals. The power in his voice and singing really comes through on this great tune.

  • Ridiculosly good.. I used to play this over and over when I was in the Army... looking out at the desolate desert thinking about home. " Oh I am sleeping under strange , strange skies.".. Lol, you got that right. Thanks for posting this, max.

  • @jwahh awesome dude...thats wat its for
