Hi, I wanted to make a floor for an inflatable. I was thinking of doing vinyl flooring or vinyl and wrap it with carpet, or just a sturdy indoor/outdoor carpet. Do you recommend the wood, and carpet? What if I use 2 sections for a longer vessel? Is the minnkota 40lb faster than the 30lb? is the larger motor really worth it? I've read it will only drain my battery faster.
ivegot tthe 360 12' inflatable and id like to put a motor on and a floor but not sure how to go about the floor. extirpate326@gmail.com. anyone make a how to video or care toexplain it a little better for me.
Hey dude, i was wondering, i have mine rigged up with a 40lb minn kota, but i wanted to get a 4hp for it. the boat says it can hold up to 4hp , but on sites it says only 2.5? i dont get it, and will my motor bracket that i baught from the store handle it?!
@alexandro411 As you know, all batteries are a little different. It depends on the actual health/size/charge on your battery vs. what ever you are using the battery for. My Optima dry-cell battery gets a good several hours of intermittent use on the trolling motor. It really all depends.
hello , i just got one boat like yours HF280 and going to costomize mine also, but i m going to use a gas motor 4 HP. in the near future...... my question is I could go to the sea or I have to be on lakes or river? I live in Miami-FL and we have a lots of places to explore ..... please reply I need your opinion on the subject ...... and by the way i love your project...... wnen i finish mine I intende to post also.........my wife and son are very excited to go out and try it..... .
@tavares44 Congrats on getting your new boat! $ HP sounds like it'll haul ass. I live on the Gulf and mostly take mine in the saltwater bay and sound, never the open sea though. I try to stay within a couple hundred yard swim of the shore if something terrible happened. Also, be cautious of other boats and their wake! They may not see you so be prepared if they don't slow down. Be safe and I hope to see your custom boat on here one day!
hi..just want to ask about the floor..what kin o wood that you use because it seems so lighter than plywood and what kind material you use to wrap the wood?
@khyrull86 It's just pressure treated/water treated plywood. It is heavy ass hell as a full sheet, but once you cut the floor, it seems a lot lighter. I used outdoor carpeting from Home Depot.
@budgetbassboy I have not seen one in person, but I've done some research on the web and it looks like it's extremely cheaper in price, so take that for what it's worth. The 9' 7" model they have is for four people, but I promise you that really means 1 person plus gear, maybe two. You'll see models with built in seats that are inflatable which = junk. That model also only has 3 chambers; the Sevylor has 5 which helps make the sevylor more rigid and if you pop a chamber, you still have 4 more.
Hey, nice job on the raft, i just bought one myself for 160 bucks and i got the 360 12ft raft, i just have one question. With the wooden floor you made are you able to stand up and cast along with land bigger fish with ease? Because my buddy and I fish for pike and muskie, we have some small lakes in my area that have good size pike and muskie, but obviously we use big tackle to fish with. Im thing about hand making fishing seats that are like stools to sit and cast on.
@conner77777 Good deal on the boat! The wooden floor is so much better than just the cushion floor because it adds stability, distributes the weight and is a lot more stable to stand on. You won't have any issues bringing in larger fish, just be very cautious about not popping a hole in the raft with their sharp gills or the treble hooks on you lure. I catch 2-10 lb Sail Cats out here where I live on the salt water, and no real issues. Be safe man!
@loayaa11 Okay, I keep mine inflated and in my garage so it doesn't get weathered. If you store it deflated after every use, it will eventually dry rot inarout the creases that are caused when it's stored folded. Came in a box. It takes about 10 minutes to fully inflate all chambers with a 12 V air compressor. the 280- 2 people okay. 360- 3 people okay.
@alexandro411 Sorry I haven't replied yet! You can use any type of 12 Volt battery, but as always, be careful when dealing with the exposed terminals and having it around water. They make specific batteries designed for water sports, but they still aren't anymore safe or efficient in my opinion.
@loayaa11 When it warms up a little more, I'll make a video of me putting it to use. Be on the look out for something in mid April. And for price, not sure the best value. Bought mine real cheap on Craigslist, like 40 bucks but new they run around two-three hundred.
@linkachi256 Yes, the 280 is a couple feet shorter but does fit two adults and a kid. Without all the gear, maybe three adults but that would be tight. My wife and son go in it with me a lot.
I just got this boat a few days ago. I'm thinking about building a floor for it, my question is do you still inflate the boat floor or leave it deflated?
@crevan343 I'm sorry it's taken so long to reply! Well leave it inflated, it wont make much difference but will give the boat more buoyancy and makes for support for the floor!
@TheEliteFisherMan Thats awesome! You'll love it; just take care of it and it'll take you anywhere. Did you order the motormount or in the process of making your own?
@Cpennington57 I think i got ripped off , because i mean, in the states you can get them for 50 bucks and here 100.. im talking about the motor mount, but what ever , i spent 716 bucks without the motor, motor included, around 1000 bucks for everything. Gonna try her out today, wish me luck!
hey i also had the idea of wood floors also i like your idea of a shelf but i though mabye the shelf might be better in the front of the boat because i have bench seats in my boat but thanks for video man very usefull
@classrock97 Yeah, I was gonna make a rear bench seat but I like riding towards the middle anyway so I just made it a shelf that fits my 12 V and tackle box. The possibilities are endless on these things!
Very cool add ons. I'm in the process of building my motor mount and would like to see yours in a bit more detail, as your video is a bit dark. Really would like to see the ends with the clamps and how you attached it to the wood, etc. How did you bend the pipe? Excellent job on your fish hunter. Lots of people looking for help with this....yours looks great. Teach us!!!!
what battery are you using for your trolling motor

@crevan343 I leave my floor inflated. That wood floor also needs some cusion to float on. The air in the floor makes the rubber more ridged.
