I do agree with Simon on his comment. If we didnt know Blake - never saw him before - we will hate that version on the radio. Coz oldies song cant simply be remix or added electronic sounds to it. But as this is a competition - a singing competition - it should be acceptable. But, at this level - he shouldnt touch the sentimental value of oldies. Anyway - he still perform well and we do still love Blake's performance ... am i right?

I see a bit odd that Blake has and is the only contestant so far, since Season 6, that got to use ProTools (or whatever other technical music program he used) to help assist him in his live performances for 'Idol'. Although, it helped him greatly for this performance, securing him a spot as Runner-Up to Jordin Sparks in 2007, and he has definitely gone on to prove that with these success does come to those who fight for it!

I don't think that it's that the other contestants are not ALLOWED actually. Contestants are allowed to used the instruments that they are good at. The blond chick that kept forgetting the lyrics was allowed to play the piano, Davis cook played the guitar, Blake Lewis uses that music editor. I don't think it goes any further than that.

As an entertainer, Blake Lewis isn't bad, but this is a singing competition and Blake's vocal skills are lacking. You look at winners like Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood. Don't tell me that there is anyone out there that thinks Blake sing as good as either one of those. He changes the songs because he can't see it the way the originals were sang. Diana Ross is a great vocalist. For notes that he can't hold, he'll stop short and beat box. I'm surprised he got as far as he got.
