CRTs contain lots of LEAD, kids don't go gungho to do this, you release a lot of LEAD into the environment. Which seeps into the ground water. Which gets drunk, and causes birth defects. Imagine the hell of being born and living your entire life with birth defects, it would suck ass. Better to take this to a computer recycling center. So it can be recycled to make new monitors and car batteries and such.

They dont explode like the myth states.When I trash a crt I just toos it in the air and let them slam down.

I have tossed about 8 crt, tvs and monitors combined.

It depends on what age they are and who made them,its easy to grab8random screens and have none"explode"my neighbor on trash day was putting out an old B&W tv set that was long since dead, lost his grip& dropped it. Glass shot across the street and then some, probably 20 feet

(they do not so much explode as implode & shoot, CTRs are vacuum tubes, when you break them the glass is first pulled inward until an equal Librium is met, then the kinetic energy no longer held in place shoots the glass

I always thought CRTs were better than LCDs (partly because your perception of their color isn't altered by your viewing angle) and now LCDs are a standard

LCDs are theoretically better for the environment and your health, which is why they are now standard.
