Loved it. Can't wait to make some. I've read everything about when to harvest, but what has your experience taught you about harvesting? Spring and Fall?
@mountnman100 I grow enough that I harvest both fall and spring if I have the time. The saying is any month with an R. I think spring is hotter usually.
the way you explained it is really simple. but i think i'm not gonna be able to make it. the simple reason is i can't afford the prime rib to use it on. GOD BLESS great video
Horseradish sauce! Yum Yum Yum! Fartroids likey like! Yup Yup Yup! Fartroid no have horses on our planet! hee hee hee. Great video! Thanks for letting us know about it. :-)
Great vid my man!! I'm cry'n too....Well that may be a side effect of LMAO while watching you cringe, cough and cry every time you opened the food processor x-D.... I may have woke up my neighbors when you smelled it x-D I'm a big fan of woebers horseradish sauce, but i bet that stuff is like woebers on steroids ;-) Good call on the Miracle Whip. That would have been my choice as well 8-)
@WambliPeta I had to search Woebers, Sandwich Pal, that's the one I like when it's not in season to make my own. It's not quite the same texture, I think they use dehydrated and powdered.
Last fall's wasn't too hot (but hotter than any store bought). This spring's was a lot hotter. Hopefully this hot dry year made it hotter still.
Miracle Whip is the best I've found for keeping it hot and keeping it a long time. I think it needs the professional preservatives.
@Myk63 I know hot and dry make "regular" radishes hot, so I'm sure the same applies here. "professional preservatives".... Well you're eating them anyway, so you may as put them to work for you ;-) Side note... I've benn told to harvest horseradish before it is two yrs old, otherwise it will be too woody..I have no practical knowledge (yet), but this is what I have been told
I love horseradish also and your video made me cry laughing. Anyways last year I dug some up and made some but it is not that strong and I waited along time before adding vinigar to the mix. Is there different varieties of the root crop one would be stronger than another do you know.
@konto1313 I don't know about varieties but different years and seasons have different levels of heat. These were much hotter the following spring and I think fall is supposed to be hotter.
My brother-in-law loves that stuff. You looked like that was agony to make. I don't know how you all can eat that stuff. It has to be acquired taste. I bet that opens up the sinuses. Hehe.
That is a lot of horseradish! I can only imagine what that was like! After watching this, I don't think I'll be making any horseradish sauce anytime soon. I think that would be a great time for a gas mask. By the looks of things, that could make a great biological weapon...LOL
I love horseraddish! Its best when Im crying and my nose is running and I cant smell anything any more:-) I got some horseraddish cheddar not to long ago that was awesome!
@1DRock37167 I don't know if you have ever had Amish curd cheese, but I've had some with horseradish and it's freaking amazing!! Seriously , I can eat it like popcorn 8-). My step mom gets some up around Coldwater, MI.
@billyCtv I think you lost me. Unless you mean the scrambled eggs on the NRA hat, which does sound pretty good. I hope I remember that the next time I make eggs.
@DogWalkingTall Where's the fun in that? No sinus clearing or feeling of someone punching you in the back of the head from the inside. You would miss out on the breath taking feeling of love. Plus you know that endorphin high you get from fasting?
@Myk63 I've had an Arby's sandwich but noooo never horseradish on it. That was when I was a kid. Been a long time since I was at an Arby's thought. haha
Man, I LOVE horseradish! I slice up cheddar cheese and smear it on with a dab of spicy brown mustard! I kid you not, sometimes I even put on some tabasco with it! Good stuff! Very cool! I'd love to try some homemade horseradish, I bet it's much better then what I get from the store! Love it on hot dogs too!

@contreeman That's why I put it on a hotdog. :)

I wear a painters mask when I make it. I might try the goggle thing next time too. The best thing to do is ask an unsuspecting person to smell it.

@Tuuktalus LOL, I did that the first time. He hasn't fallen for it since.

@DownUnderDoug Many people make it outside. It will gas you out if the processor is leaky.

Hey just what I thought also about hotness. Love your vids very funny some of them as you have a great sence of humor by sounds of it.

@konto1313 Making horseradish sauce was much funnier when I used an old leaky food processor.

@DearestBecky It's been worse, my last food processor leaked. It would take hours for my eyes to get over it. It definitely works on the sinuses.

@GreatGig1 It only made a little over a pint. It will last me until the rest is dormant and hopefully hotter.
I've wondered why they don't use it instead of pepper spray.

Next time, don't torture yourself... Get a gas mask.

@mehquig I've heard of that in countries and times where gas masks were issued.

I love horseraddish, tasty. I bet its good freshly made, Ive only ever had it bought at the store.
LOL@googles, that is a good idea haha.
That is some powerful raddish, hahaha.

@ninjajessie1 Eventually goggles trap the gas in with your eyes, but they work for short periods.

wow, you know it's some serious cooking when you need to wear goggles! haha
I like a little horseradish once in a blue moon, I bet it's better home made though! Why did you sniff it! LOL (I would have done the same thing) lol
jellybean4501 1 year ago
@jellybean4501 You have to sniff to see how strong it is, unless it's already knocking you down.
