iv been on the disney cruis there are 5 boats i only remember dreams come true cuz its the only boat iv been on AND I SAW THE WHOLE SHOW THATS RIGHT THERE IS MORE TO THIS.THIS PERSON IS IN A THETER IN A CRUIS BOAT
I won't ask why Genie is there. or is that Louis? i LOVE Princess and the Frog--by far my fav princess...finally one that actually shares the same dream as me :))
I just got back today from the disney dream and i think that the shows are absolutely amazing on this ship! I cried during "believe" and "villains tonight" was hilarious!
Why is it that there are no videos of the show on youtube, or no mention of this show on the Disney Dream Cruise ship website? I don't understand it at all.. has the show opened for guests to view yet? Or is it still in rehearsels? Because I can't even find any information when I search the show on Google..
Naveen and Tiana's costumes are all wrong for this scene! The music is upbeat, swinging, and probably calls for a lot of swift footwork. Not the best place for sleeves the size of basketballs and skirts that stand on their own because they have so many petticoats and supports! The outfits from the beginning of the movie (Tiana's yellow dress and Naveen's street clothes) would've been better suited for this. Or Naveen's street outfit and Tiana's blue dress, with a trimmed skirt.
Oh, no, no, NO!!!! Not Lottie!! If a picture really says a thousand words, poor Lottie has been reduced from a Galinda of the '20s to a painful pink joke, like the Stepsisters in the parks :(
But, from a more technical point of view, how does PatF count as a "believe in magic" movie? Mama Odie never really made any dreams come true; the whole message behind her song is "I CAN give you what you want, but I won't; go figure out what you REALLY want from life"
@ztslovebird PatF is more like a "believe in yourself and believe that there's magic in you" movie. Tiana and Naveen magically returned to human when they admitted they loved each other and got married.
@hahleemkay Really? I thought the message was "a stubborn man can be brought around to a new perspective, but a stubborn woman will never change her mind". Naveen kind of grew and changed, but Tiana stayed as constant as a mountain. The romance moved WAY too quickly, too; you can't marry a person after knowing them for 3 days if you hated their guts on Day 1. All the other Disney romances either loved each other at first sight or had time to get to know one another and change their minds.
@ztslovebird Well, compared to PatF, other Disney princesses/heroines knew their Princes for only one day and immediately fell in love with them and they soon got married. Perfect examples include Snow White, Cinderella and Aurora. So, if you think about it like that, Tiana and Naveen had a little more time to get to know each other, compared to Disney's earlier three princesses.
@darthvalor07 But those were different circumstances. We don't know for sure when Snow White got married. And Aurora was already betrothed to Phillip, and they didn't get married at the end of their movie, either. And the whole point of the ball in Cinderella was for the prince to find a wife; I doubt the king would've let either of them get cold feet, lol! Plus, they all at least LIKED their princes before they fell in love; these two hated each other's guts!
@ztslovebird I think that's not true, on the contrary. I liked the Princess and the Frog because I thought they actually fell in love, as opposed to all the other princesses. I mean what, you're gonna tell me Snow White and Aurora had time to know the princes they supposedly "loved"? Also, you CAN fall in love with someone in a short amount of time if you share a life changing experience with them. I think being changed into a frog would count as one, wouldn't you agree?
@CompletlyBunned Considering Snow White's prince was both the first boy she ever met who called her beautiful even when she was wearing rags AND saved her from an undead sleep, it's safe to say she at least liked him. And didn't see the whole romantic dance scene in the woods between Aurora and Phillip? Besides, even if the latter couple didn't love each other, they were betrothed & would've been married anyway. And while a "life changing experience" can fan the flames of love, you still need
Also that is NOT the message of the movie, clearly. Tiana DID change, she saw that she also needed love, not only success to be happy, and Naveen saw he needed love and to learn the value of work, not just partying and girls. You're putting your own negative ideas into the movie and then think that it's how it is, but let me tell you, if you really LOOK for sexism, you're going to find it everywhere, so RELAX and instead recognize that the movie was amazing.
@CompletlyBunned need more than 48 hours to go from pure hatred to wedding bells. I wasn't looking for anything derogatory in Princess and the Frog; I honestly wanted to see another instant Disney classic. The movie had plenty of good points (great actors, BEAUTIFUL hand-drawn animation, good songs, and plenty of magic), but it came up just a little short of "classic Disney movie" status. The final confrontation between the villain and the main character was also anticlimactic.
@ztslovebird I don't think Tiana and Naveen hated each other, per say. It was more like they were annoyed with one another. They never actually hated each other. Tiana was annoyed with the situation that Naveen, indirectly, put her in and Naveen was annoyed by the fact that Tiana wouldn't let go of his mistake by messing with Dr. Faciller.
@xJustBreatheInx Naveen was attracted to Tiana's womanhood, but once he found out she was intelligent and wouldn't swoon he disliked her. Tiana was already uninterested in his flirtations as a human, but as a frog she loathed him because he was a frog and she had an irrational fear of frogs. The frog spell extending its reach to her certainly didn't help warm up her feelings for him.
@xJustBreatheInx I beg to differ; if it weren't for the fact that this is a Disney Princess movie and she needed him to get herself back to normal, Tiana would've castrated Naveen with a seashell shortly before strangling him.
@ztslovebird Lmao! I have to hand it to you for the descriptive visual. Okay, so let's say they do hate each other. Have you ever heard of the phrase 'the line between love and hate isn't very thick'? Well, I'm pretty sure it applies here if they had, indeed, hated each other. Now you can say that they had a deep hatred for one another, but I still don't believe that. It's not that I don't want to believe that, it's just that I didn't catch that vibe while watching it. They were more frustrated
@ztslovebird (continued) with the situation and with one another that it made it seem like they hated each other, but they were more focused on getting back to normal than focusing on truly developing a loathing for each other. Yes, they didn't like each other as people, personality wise, but it didn't go as far as pure hatred.
@ztslovebird Yeah, to stop little kids from thinking that they'll be given everything from life and they need to work towards their dreams as well as hope. Life isn't easy!
@ztslovebird You are right, Mama Odie doesn't hand them the solution. I think the point of the movie was to show that sometimes you need to figure out what you really want and then how to obtain it. I think the believing in magic aspect is turned into more of a 'keep your faith' or 'never give up' message which I guess in some cases can be magical in its own right. I think it more meaningful movie because the main characters weren't just handed the solution to their problem.
@residentwriter I totally agree. a good contrast is Lottie, being spoiled rotten and only has to ask to get what she wants---yet still she complains ("I never get what I wish for!"). However Tiana 's own magic was to believe in herself, her capabilities, despite the odds stacked against her...Only you can make your Dreams come true---if you work hard enough and of course BELIEVE in yourself and others as well...but not (solely) rely on others to solve your problems for you; there is no quick fix
@ztslovebird Believing in the magic...of how love can change hearts, change minds and change a course of a person's life...Believing that you have your OWN MAGIC...own POWER to make your dreams come true...and not rely too much or solely on others to get what you want...that was Tiana's dad's message to her. "dream with all your little heart, wish..." but the magic is within you..all you have to do is BELIEVE in Yourself and your own capabilities.
@ztslovebird I agree with you on the whole finding what they really wanted thing, but there would be a lot more crap if it wasn't included, especially from the (dum)people who think princess and the frog is downplayed because she's black.
@KerriCP My only thing is - would them being frogs almost the whole time not look ridiculous? That was my only thing. The story and songs are GREAT for a show, I think, I just don't know how they could tastefully pull that off.

The girl's not black enough to be Tiana, and she looks too old. Naveen, on the other hand, looks too boyish.

Either I'm losing my mind or they used a lot of the arrangements (maybe even backing track) from Tiana's Showboat Jubilee.
