It's neither. It's a romantic comedy the whole way. Everyone in the creating of the screenplay is apparently mixed. It comes on showtime a lot now. Can even get it on itunes or amazon unboxed and watch it right now, if you'd like.

Yeah, Jay Brooks is a real person. It's a black guy who's only dated white girls and gets it in his head that that's been his problem. So "Operation Brown Sugar" is in effect and he goes for a sister. Mad comedy ensues. Plus, the girl who plays the lead steals the whole movie.
