For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
23 At that time if anyone says to you, ‘Look, here is the Messiah!’ or, ‘There he is!’ do not believe it. 24 For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect. 25 See, I have told you ahead of time. 26 “So if anyone tells you, ‘There he is, out in the wilderness,’ do not go out; or, ‘Here he is, in the inner rooms,’ do not believe it.
LIES!!!!!DON'T BELIEVE THIS FOOL....RESEARCH YOURSELF!!!!DON'T BE MIS-LED ...NOTHING OUTSIDE THE BIBLE CAN BE FOUND!!!now don't you think there would be other proof outside the bible?....lies!!! we have historic doc from way before the Romans made this story up about jesus........I'm a ex-catholic/christain...I search to get to know god and jesus...and i found the things i didnt want to find about the bible....found its lies made for control of the masses....think and find out for yourself!!!!
This guy is SO circular with his "logic," it's pathetic. He's essentially saying, "The Bible is true because the Bible SAYS it's true." (I wonder if he'd let a Muslim get away with that while using the Qu'ran?)
so the proof of jesus' existence is in the multi-edited, multi-translated and re-translated book professing his godhood....... and this is credible? thats never happend b4....
Just let every Christian I've every heard or known... Tell people to their face that there's proof of Jesus despite the fact that nobody alive has any evidence that he ever existed. This is the most embarrassing part of Christianity. I mean, even Islam has a real figure with historical evidence. Christianity is just another pagan myth.
@lambchopxoxo I didn't realize that 600 years was that huge of a difference in time that everyone forgot history prior to that. I mean, if he could bring people from the dead, you'd think some HISTORIAN would write about him.
@cboxgo yeah and I guess He could have also made sure it would be authored in a context that would accommodate your understanding here now today, but He didnt. You prefer to speculate about what didnt happen lol great argument.
Prove Luke wrote Luke. Prove that this wasn't an admitted best guess by the early church as to who wrote that book.
And again, Peter didn't say: "we do not follow cleverly devised tales." Scholars admit he didn't write 2 Peter.
He doesn't explain how he was forced to accept how they're "historical" and not religious documents, especially when they contain historical errors. It contradicts on the year of Jesus' supposed baptism and birth. It also lies about Quirinius being governor b4 3 B.C.
Prove Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew. You'll have a tough time doing it.
Then, explain why 92% of the book of Matthew, written by a supposed eyewitness, relies on the book of Mark, who wasn't an eyewitness. Have fun with that one.
Prove John wrote John.
Then explain why the consensus of Biblical scholars admit that Peter didn't write 2 Peter.
Paul's eyes didn't witness anything.
The writer of Mark wasn't a close companion of Peter, which is why Mark contains error.
@highwind8124 what is the "error" in Mark? you do realize that the four gospels arent intended to be exact replications of each other, dont you? who are the biblical "scholars", specifically, by name, that admit that Peter didnt write 2 Peter?
Tons of errors in Mark. You can Google search them, but you need look no further then the second line of it which falsely ascribes Malachi to Isaiah.
As for 2 Peter being pseudonymous, read any good resource on this. Bible.org, a Christian site, has an article by scholar Daniel B. Wallace which goes over this in detail. He admits the vast bulk of NT scholars admit whoever wrote it, it wasn't Simon Peter.
Both epistles clearly state that they were authored by Peter, an eyewitness of Jesus' life and post resurrection appearances. Though there has been some who have doubted the authorship of these two epistles, the clear opening statements of each epistle tell us Peter was the author. "Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus...
that is from carm.org a respected apologetics site
@highwind8124 just a quick search reveals many explanations for the differences in writing styles that caused people to speculate about the authorship. you might want to look a little deeper before you make such assertions
When you have the vast majority of scholars telling you its pseudonymous, its not a conspiracy. It really is.
When you start BSing your way around every contradiction, and around this simple fact that it wasn't Simon Peter's hand writing this - then you're just lying, and I'm not even sure you've convinced yourself.
Those issues don't disprove Christianity, but you lying puts you in the Rev 21:8 category. If this religion is true, you burn.
@highwind8124 I half expected a response like this. Scholars analyze based on the entirety of the text and the rest of the bible that might be connected. Thats what they do, but now, because you think you are some sort of expert and are SO SURE, you have lost all credibility with me. I dont even need to call you names. Open your mind.
Quote: "the issue of authorship is already settled, at least negatively: the apostle Peter did not write this letter. The vast bulk of NT scholars adopts this second perspective"
Wallace flatly admits the situation. I should also point out that the vast bulk of NT scholars... are Christians.
I know there's religious fervor to try and make it not so, but it is. Just like heliocentrism, the congregants eventually come to terms with it. It's okay. Just breathe in and out.
@highwind8124 no really, if none of it were true I am perfectly okay with it. you're the one reacting lol. so tell me, who are the majority referred to? one persons name isnt a "majority" in fact I couldnt find another (credible) source that supports that. so sorry
I dont trust anyone with a side parting or who wears taupe. This kind of thing may be enjoyed by the misguided and insane, but, it doesnt cut it in the real world. Fail. Move along, theres nothing for you here...
So, what? Youre telling me that a dead guy came back to life again?! Evidence? This is the usual hot air and misdirection. There is solid historical proof for Axexander. What this attempts to address is the divinity of someone. And, again, not one shred of evidence. Unsurprising, right?
Would people call You a liar in your book if you said Philly beat the Lakers ? No because its your book! They would say it in their own book, right. In the bible it says one thing in many others it says something else. I believe in God but he did not help the case with that, try again maybe next time you'll hit the bullzeye sir... What do you think Rabbi?
Nobody has seen any of the disciples , nobody has written anything about them , that's becouse they didn't exist. It's like saying , Wilma , betty and barny talk about fred flinstone and that's my proof . Muhamed , jesus , buhda are only tales , It's all about the Sun
imagine you hear about a small group of people in India who claim that there leader is devine.Would you got to India to check it out? Suppose you heard that the group claimed that he had been raised from the dead...but there is no official record of this. Only the claims of the small group. suppose you couldn't talk to the leader because he has apprently assended to heaven. Suppose you can't talk to the desciples because they are now dead...for 2 thousand years! Suppose, except for 1 or 2 tiny
letters, the desciples themselves wrote nothing. suppose the accounts left were written 3-6 decades after the event. Suppose you find out that we have none of the originals and that the books we have conflict with one another in many details.Suppose you have no access to the early manuscripts and even if you did, you couldn't read them because they were written in a dead language.Would you say there was good evidence for the claims ? Would you fault anyone for not being interested in the claims
Oh, these past few weeks have been so exciting!! For the longest time, I'd run into evolution videos all over the place, but now I'm finding more and more videos on Christ and Creation! God bless you uploaders; get the Word out there!
Ah, we meet again, gorilla. How've you been since you blocked me? Been able to negate any of the hard evidence I gave you? And how do you negate this very video?
Gorilla, did you pay any attention to the video at all? In the courts you speak of are allowed (and supposed to) view all evidence and analyze it. For months, people have been showing you that this is exactly what's been done. The guy said it himself very clearly at 2:08
Great so since they would not allow the bible or any other written evidence that was told to someone........ to somone who eventually wrote it down. You agree the bible is not evidence of anything since the court of any developed country would not allow it as evidence.
"The guy said it himself very clearly"
Well who could argue with an eexpert on the subject errr i mean a lawyer whos profesion is to lie to make his story seem real.
Please, gorilla, don't put words in my mouth. I believe the Bible is infallible and true, and nobody ever said it isn't allowed to be used as evidence in the court of law. In most countries just a few hundred years ago, it was the law. So I would suggest you don't make assumptions as you have.
The lawyer in this video is the same kind that took part in the Scopes trial, bending the "evidence" for evolution to make a pig's tooth look like a hybrid ape-man's. Gorilla, please be fair to discussion
Again, you're making assumptions about something you really don't know about. Science has never proven the Bible wrong. They've never proven that the earth is 6,000 years old, and there's scientific evidence (which I've provided before you blocked me) saying that it is. Have you ever tried going to Answers in Genesis? They're scientists who provide a bunch of evidence for Creation. They explain why the dinosaurs died out and everything. I wish you weren't so extreme. Open your heart a bit.
Sorry 99.9% of experts in the field dissagree with your fundie scientists who cant hold a job in the real world and work in religious sheltered workshops.
"They're scientists"
No they are not and their staement even admits they will lie to keep inline with bible fiction.
"Open your heart"
No you need to improve your mind.
Your belief in your is so weak that you will lose faith if the bible is proven wrong on somthing then you dont have much faith at all.
Lots saw Jesus? pitty none of them bothered to record it! Only the bible, the book that is full of scientific errors, let alone lies and contradictions in religion.
If I was the todd (which I am not) I would delete all rude comments. That is to say, I would delete the vulger language. If they respect themselves, then they would respect you, todd. People can voice their opinions without being vulger , using rated "R" languge. It amazes me, how some who claims to be smart--how they can stoop so low to be disrespectful to others, yet they want respect.
Not only have I watched the video but I actually own a copy of Lee Strobel giving his full presentation - which I've also watched. I've also seen the movie version of the Case for Christ and own and have gone through the book particular the aspects that deal with the historicity of NT.
I use to believe. That's how I was first interested in Christian apologetics. I actually ordered 10 copies of The Case for Christ at my church's satellite cast event where we watched Lee gives his presentation - to share with family and friends. I've since read additional books on the subject and then revisited Lee's arguments and found they were based on assumptions that required defense but were instead presumed instead of argued for but weren't presumable from the historic record.
The bible is fiction. Nobody saw jesus alive. There is too much evidence that he is another myth to entertain the concept. Religion is transparent. It is for the delusional and brainwashed.
Oh please. Your brand of history is fiction built to fit around the myth. Just because a research is counter to your imaginary friend doesn't make it wrong. And it's a tired excuse to claim atheists don't know about your goofy religion. Most of us know it inside and out. That's why we're atheists. We are educated. We can see all religion is nonsense upon nonsense.
Try reading the works of non-bias scholars instead of ones trying to justify the bible nonsense . Earl Doherty for instance. The founders of xtianity didn't seen to know anything about a human jesus. They made him from ancient greek/roman pagan savior myths.
You haven't shown that the bible is non-sense. You've merely asserted it. ALL scholars are biased to certain trains of thought so your complaints are void. What evidence do you have that Jesus was made from greek/roman pagan savior myths?
I love it when ppl aren't educated enough to catch the mistakes created by a spell checker. Very typical of the religious. Most never even finish high-school. If you had an education you would know about the evidence I speak of. It's myriad. Haven't you ever heard of dionysus, attis, helios, mithra, odysseus to name a few?
Excuse me, but have you ever heard of Gary Habermas? How about J.P Holding of tektonics? These names are but a few who have utterly shattered the Christ myth. Moreover, there is good reason why virtually all credible historical scholarship has abandoned the Christ myth.
At any rate, how about you bring your mythic paralell argumentation over to theologywebDOTcom.
We'll see how long you can sustain your debunked position.
<<These names are but a few who have utterly shattered the Christ myth. Moreover, there is good reason why virtually all credible historical scholarship has abandoned the Christ myth.
LOL. In your dreams. This evidences you are utterly delusional.
Merely stating that I am delusional, does not make it so. Further, I would suggest you refrain from enganging in logical fallacies—namely, ad hominem argumentation.
It makes you appear to be nothing more than an ignorant fool.
Those clowns write for believers. It's about preaching to the converted. They are writing what you want to hear. Rational discourse is not on their agenda.
One of those clowns is a worldclass scholar. Moreover, neither of them were Chrsitian's. They converted to Christianity because of the evidence.
It appears you do not even know who they are, nor does it seem you have read any of their work. Yet, you seem to know that "Rational discourse is not on their agenda". Thus, after our short discourse you, sir, seem to be the delusional, intellectually dishonest one.
Worldclass historical scholarship? Get real. The preacher preaching to the converted is more like it. Sheep making sheep noises for sheep. It's clear that aheists aren't scared of reading any and all material while xtians fear discent and avoid it at all costs. Education is the biggest enemy of religion.
Indeed, I am a Christian and I love reading all sorts of material. The Bible admonishes us to aswell. Alas, I am a Christian because Christianity is true. If it was false I would not be a Christian.
Finally, it appears that the only one afraid here is you. You seem to be scared to engage in a rational, coherent discussion. Or, perhaps, you are just unable.
> I am a Christian and I love reading all sorts of material. The Bible admonishes us to aswell.
It certainly does. That's what I said. ROFLOL. Too funny.. Maybe you should look up the meaning of big words like admonish b4 using them. lol. heheheh hahah.
You've run out of arguments I see and instead resort to copying what I say. Your implied concession is accepted. Go out and educate yourself and you will find Christianity has rock solid evidence to stand on.
>What evidence do you have that Jesus was made from greek/roman pagan savior myths?
Way too much to post it all here. But here's a few: Aion - same birthday, life, resurrection. Still celebrated my armenian xtians. Attis - same birth/death and resurection to the exact month and day. Baptism and sacrament
comes from pagan myth. Followers of Mithra practiced identical rituals as xtians. Pagans spoke in tongues. Mithras execution myth is the same as jesus's. There are many more.
Xtian apologists are hardly credible as scientists or historians. They are a laughing stock. I've read habermas. He sets up straw man after straw man.And his utterances about morality are vile and biologically incorrect.
Why are Christians on your view not credible scientists or historians? Is a huge leader of the human genome project Francis Collins really not credible? What about Ken Miller? The historian NT Wright? You're ignorance is laughable.
Francis Collins, Ken Miller, and Hugh Ross are well respected scientists who are not YECs. Your claims about Christians not being credible scientists is false non-sense. Don't get me started on Mendel or Newton.
My position on the age of the earth and evolution is currently in a state of research. I am weighing arguments and evidence presented by the various parties. The side with more evidence is the one I will subscribe to.
You weren't specific about what quote you were asking about and you ramble incessantly. That's why I didn't answer. Sorry to break it to you but the vatican was built on the spot previously devoted to worhipping mithra. All the orthodox xtian rituals came from ancient myth. Mithra and jesus had identical life experiances. The quote is a famous inscription devoted to mithra. I'm not surprised you don't know these facts. Xtians are brainwashed to avoid education from anyone but other xtians.
Good grief. If you weren't so fucking ignorant maybe you could open a web browser, navigate to google and type some key words like mithra. Apparently you aren't smart enough to research things yourself.
Look god boy. That isn't the point. The point is that the writtings of mithra are not hard to locate and are too long to post here. Again, the writings of that religion are not hard to locate. I shouldn't have to post them here for evidence they exist. Do you think all the thousands of bible study web sites are exempt because they are on the web? You are a delusional, brainwashed, inbred, half-wit who is grasping at straws because you're scared, put in your place and befuddled.
Utterly fascinating! It appears our subject is unwilling to abandon his pagan paralells position. It seems his hatred for God has impaired his reasoning abilities to the extent that he cannot properly dialogue without engaging in numerous fallacies.
This viral form of psychosis is characteristic in our subject. He doesn't have the ability to accept that intelligent people can disagree.

Seriously. Why is it so hard for you to simply do a search with something like "jesus as a reincarnation of mithra?" Then you'll see a huge list of them. Do you actually doubt that the mithra myth existed? Plus a yt script makes it very hard to post a url. What part of this don't you understand?
You can send me a PM with the link then. Do you really believe what you post? Do you REALLY have evidence to back up YOUR claims about mythra and Christianity? Are you going to continue your burden of proof fallacies or will you fulfill your obligations? I'll be waiting in my inbox.
I never claimed the existence of God here. If anyone was busy making claims it was yourself. Again, I'll be waiting in my youtube inbox for some sources from you.
You continue dodging your responsibilities. I'm aware of mithra as an ancient pagan religion. I'm asking you to provide a source for your claim that Christianity is copied from mithra. When will you provide such a source to back up your assertions?
>I'm asking you to provide a source for your claim that Christianity is copied from mithra.
Use your favorite search engine. Type "jesus as a reincarnation of mithra" and pick one. Or tell me why you can't do that. Because it seems like you can't.
>Clearly, "Christians" that do these things are obviously not Christians to begin with.
Yet again you shift the burden of proof to me when it is not mine to uphold but yours. Tell me why you can't do this. I'm not failing to carry out my obligations, you are.
>"I've yet to meet a xtian that isn't a hypocrite."
Two problems with this. First, it's a hasty generalization fallacy. Just because all the "Christians" you've met were hypocrites doesn't mean all existing Christians are. Secondly, this fails to tell us whether Christianity is true or not.
Use your favorite search engine. Type "jesus as a reincarnation of mithra" and pick one. Or tell me why you can't do that. Because it seems like you can't.
I'm tired of trying to be nice to you and teach you something when it appears you would rather be difficult. Fine, I hope you are satisfied with unsupported assertions.
>"It's inherently impossible to be a xtian and not be a hypocrite."
You contradict yourself. When you call xtians hypocrites and cite from the bible to prove their hypocrisy you are pointing out that true xtians should not behave like hypocrites.
>"Xtians will tell you to pray about it. Why don't you try that and see if anything happens."
I believe that Jesus Christ is the savior yet I have not told you to just go pray and that's it. We can discuss the evidence for Christianity via PM if you are open minded that is.
>We can discuss the evidence for Christianity via PM if you are open minded that is.
No thanks. I don't have time to entertain your delusions. I guess I'm not open minded but I don't have time to convince krishnas, mormons or muslims they're delusional either. I'm convinced all religion is pure bullshit.
>"I don't have time to entertain your delusions...I'm convinced all religion is pure bullshit. "
More assertions you can't support. I doubt you came to these conclusions after examining the evidence. I see that being nice and patient with you breeds nothing but more insults and baseless assertions. Feel free to have the last word if you want but this dialogue is over.
The onus of proof is on those making the absurd claims. There is no evidence for your imaginary friend. I'm not going to entertain that god is a duck, jesus rides a ufo or the grinch stole xmas. I could make up stories all day. It wouldn't be your job to prove them right or wrong. It would be mine. Does this make any sense to you? And the evidence of my claims about mithra are abundant. You're too brainwashed to accept it.
Well all research into if praying works, found it doesnt work for any religion including yours!
Thats why all gods hide, wont prove they exist and wont do anything for people to believe in them, but they will punish you when you are dead and offcourse cant tell anyone alive!
>You contradict yourself. When you call xtians hypocrites and cite from the bible to prove their hypocrisy you are pointing out that true xtians should not behave like hypocrites.
How is that contradicting myself? It's simply pointing out examples of xtian hypocrisy. How does that make me a hypocrite? That makes no sense at all.
I never claimed you were a hypocrite. I pointing out that it's self contradictory to claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite. Why? Because you cited bible verses showing how xtians SHOULD behave. Therefore, you have contradicted your claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite.
>claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite. Why?
I should rephrase. One could claim to be a xtian and be a hypocrite but it's not possible to be a perfect xtian according to the tenets. To be the xtian version of "christlike" is impossible for a human with normal human tendencies and traits.
Have you given away/sold all your possesions as the bible commands?
No your a hypocrite!
Remeber god frowns upon any wealth it makes it hard for you to get into heaven, so prove heaven is more important to you than wealth on earth and get rid of all possesions as your god commands.
But you wont, any salesman who doesnt believe in their own product like you is a fail!
It's called context. Any biblical exegesis book will tell you that. Honestly, if you're going to criticize Christians then please educate yourself regarding these matters.
And the context for praising god with joy over being able to dash your enemies babies against the rocks. The idea that this stuff is divinely inspired is an insult to any real God out there. I remain open to there being a good God out there, but would not what to be found thinking poorly off him by assuming all that is in these writings comes from him.
It is apparent that you do not care about the truth and instead prefer to use ad hominems and ridicule all day. This is evidenced by your refusal to cite your sources (because you have none). Yet you so arrogantly display your baseless assertions. Sir, you do your fellow atheists a huge disfavor.
It appears our subject has a plethora of psychological issues. It appears he cannot accept the fact that there are Christian individuals much more brilliant than he is.
It is utterly fascinating to see his devolution in this regard.
Let us probe this creature some more and wade through his irrationality and logical fallacies in order to better understand his cognitive disease.
Your profile says you will shred my delusions and myths with science and logic. I'm still waiting for a link to a source to back up your claims. You do want to be rational and consistent, don't you?
It appears our subject is attempting to quote the Bible in order to absolve the fury from his intellectual superiors; even if that means taking verses out of context.
Our subject may either be:
1) Retreating like a coward
2) Indirectly asking for mercy
3) Medication is working
Let us continue to monitor his progress, whilst being cautious of his instability.
Our subject appears to accuse others of what he is doing. This just further proves my point that the mentally ill are unable to recognize or come to terms with their own illness.
Our subject is attempting to put us under judgement by selectively quoting & decontextualizing the document he states his false.
Our subject appears to be dazed and confused as to how a Chrstian can be more intelligent, witty and humerous than he.
So your real issue is Christians being hypocrites, not intellectual problems. I suspected as much. We'd love to welcome you if you would actually back up your claims and stop the insults. Will you accept my offer or spit in my face once again?
Seriously. Why is it so hard for you to simply do a search with something like "jesus as a reincarnation of mithra?" Then you'll see a huge list of them. Do you actually doubt that the mithra myth existed? Plus a yt script makes it very hard to post a url.
The problem with xtians goes far beyond their hypocrisy. Xtianity promotes sexism, racism, speciesism, homophobia, arrogance, intolerance and war. They hijack governments and try to push their bullshit onto everyone. Religions like xtianity and islam are the scourge of humanity.
All of those things you listed would go under a hypocrisy label. Clearly, "Christians" that do these things are obviously not Christians to begin with. You agree with me on this because you labeled these people as hypocrites (people who say one thing but act totally different). It would seem our observations are in sync.
The burden of proof for extraordinary claims lies with the claimant. Hundreds claim to have seen Nessie. Photographs and video even exist (why are those always so blurry ;-)
Parthenogenesis, resurrection, and, even more bizarre - having been made (making himself) the scapegoat for all "sins" past present and future therewith saving (some of) humanity (not me, thank god) - is a wee bit further fetched than a plesiosaur preserved in a dark Scottish loch many miles away.
"He who will not eat of my body and drink of my blood, so that he will be made on with me and I with him, the same shall not know salvation." - mithra
What quote god boy? Don't think hard to show your ignorance. You've done it over and over. You make claims like "education is the biggest enemy of atheism,." That is solid evidence you are delusional and grasping at straws. The fact is our places of higher learning are filled with atheists and our PRISONS are filled with ignorant xtians. lol.
Ad hominems and appeals to ridicule. Brilliant argument. I see you avoided citing your source for your claim. Until you do you so continue to embarrass yourself and make baseless claims. The one grasping at straws is none other than yourself as you still dodge my requests to cite source for your mithra quote. This speaks volumes about the foundation of your position.
In response to your post: "What evidence do you have that it is all a myth? How are you going to support this claim? " what I DID assert was that the burden of proof lies with the purveyor of the alleged myth NOT the debunker.
As an example, i proffered virgin birth and resurrection. Whether these are features of your imaginary friend or you even keep such is irrelevant.
Nowhere did I state that you made claims to Jesus' divinity. That groundless assertion would be yours.

speaking of TV, wouldn't it be infinitely more impressive if god cut a documentary series with lee strobel or dr craig, than him turning water into wine before illiterate sheep herders in 1st century palestine?
god can do anything, right?
so why doesn't he knock up another virgin and start a myspace page?
That Christians were the first to have the gospels and the first writings about them we have may take them at face value is no more evidence of their being 100% historical than early Muslims who had the Koran seeing the angelic appearances to Muhammad as historic.
On the 2nd point, I know too much about material in Luke that appears readily literary rather than historic to treat the intro as evidence to the contrary. Many sacred texts CLAIM 2 b true. I wonder if the intro was in the original.
For God loved the world so much that he gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16

4. In the 4th century you get a flurry of activity, comments and texts, all written in beautiful Greek.

It also lies about Quirinius being governor b4 3 B.C.
highwind8124 2 years ago 2
Prove Matthew wrote the Gospel of Matthew. You'll have a tough time doing it.
Then, explain why 92% of the book of Matthew, written by a supposed eyewitness, relies on the book of Mark, who wasn't an eyewitness. Have fun with that one.
Prove John wrote John.
Then explain why the consensus of Biblical scholars admit that Peter didn't write 2 Peter.
Paul's eyes didn't witness anything.
The writer of Mark wasn't a close companion of Peter, which is why Mark contains error.
highwind8124 2 years ago 4
@highwind8124 what is the "error" in Mark? you do realize that the four gospels arent intended to be exact replications of each other, dont you? who are the biblical "scholars", specifically, by name, that admit that Peter didnt write 2 Peter?
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@lambchopxoxo
He admits the vast bulk of NT scholars admit whoever wrote it, it wasn't Simon Peter.
highwind8124 1 year ago
@highwind8124 I just looked at mark 1:2 and have no idea what you are talking about.
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@highwind8124 and: 1 and 2 Peter
Both epistles clearly state that they were authored by Peter, an eyewitness of Jesus' life and post resurrection appearances. Though there has been some who have doubted the authorship of these two epistles, the clear opening statements of each epistle tell us Peter was the author. "Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who reside as aliens, scattered throughout Pontus...
that is from carm.org a respected apologetics site
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@highwind8124 just a quick search reveals many explanations for the differences in writing styles that caused people to speculate about the authorship. you might want to look a little deeper before you make such assertions
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@lambchopxoxo
Stop lying. Be honest. You can do it.
highwind8124 1 year ago
@highwind8124 I half expected a response like this. Scholars analyze based on the entirety of the text and the rest of the bible that might be connected. Thats what they do, but now, because you think you are some sort of expert and are SO SURE, you have lost all credibility with me. I dont even need to call you names. Open your mind.
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@highwind8124 oh an by the way, speaking of honesty, one single scholar is not a majority. Just saying
lambchopxoxo 1 year ago
@lambchopxoxo
It's okay. Just breathe in and out.
highwind8124 1 year ago
@highwind8124 no really, if none of it were true I am perfectly okay with it. you're the one reacting lol. so tell me, who are the majority referred to? one persons name isnt a "majority" in fact I couldnt find another (credible) source that supports that. so sorry

Zanna6197791 2 years ago
LOL what evidence? NONE
Stories passed from person to person then written down?
Thats evidence?
Not in any civilisated court in the world including your country!
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
Gorilla, did you pay any attention to the video at all? In the courts you speak of are allowed (and supposed to) view all evidence and analyze it. For months, people have been showing you that this is exactly what's been done. The guy said it himself very clearly at 2:08
Zanna6197791 2 years ago
"view all evidence and analyze it"
Great so since they would not allow the bible or any other written evidence that was told to someone........ to somone who eventually wrote it down. You agree the bible is not evidence of anything since the court of any developed country would not allow it as evidence.
"The guy said it himself very clearly"
Well who could argue with an eexpert on the subject errr i mean a lawyer whos profesion is to lie to make his story seem real.
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
Please, gorilla, don't put words in my mouth. I believe the Bible is infallible and true, and nobody ever said it isn't allowed to be used as evidence in the court of law. In most countries just a few hundred years ago, it was the law. So I would suggest you don't make assumptions as you have.
The lawyer in this video is the same kind that took part in the Scopes trial, bending the "evidence" for evolution to make a pig's tooth look like a hybrid ape-man's. Gorilla, please be fair to discussion
Zanna6197791 2 years ago
"I believe the Bible is infallible "
Yes you believe, science proves there was no ark, the earth is not 6000 years old etc etc.
The USA courts do not allow evidence the standard of the bible, becuase its not evidence simple as that.
"pig's tooth look like a hybrid ape-man's."
that was done by a non scientists and who expose it?
SCIENTISTS!
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
Again, you're making assumptions about something you really don't know about. Science has never proven the Bible wrong. They've never proven that the earth is 6,000 years old, and there's scientific evidence (which I've provided before you blocked me) saying that it is. Have you ever tried going to Answers in Genesis? They're scientists who provide a bunch of evidence for Creation. They explain why the dinosaurs died out and everything. I wish you weren't so extreme. Open your heart a bit.
Zanna6197791 2 years ago
"there's scientific evidence"
Sorry 99.9% of experts in the field dissagree with your fundie scientists who cant hold a job in the real world and work in religious sheltered workshops.

Try reading the works of non-bias scholars instead of ones trying to justify the bible nonsense . Earl Doherty for instance. The founders of xtianity didn't seen to know anything about a human jesus. They made him from ancient greek/roman pagan savior myths.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
You haven't shown that the bible is non-sense. You've merely asserted it. ALL scholars are biased to certain trains of thought so your complaints are void. What evidence do you have that Jesus was made from greek/roman pagan savior myths?

I love it when ppl aren't educated enough to catch the mistakes created by a spell checker. Very typical of the religious. Most never even finish high-school. TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
*yawn* This is just incoherent ramblings, which I shall address anyway....sigh.
1) Gary Habermas was NOT a Christian. He converted BECAUSE of the evidence.
2) I was not a Christian. I converted because I became educated and found good evidence for Christian theism.
It seems you cannot accept this, I wonder why? Maybe you are not intelligent enough to understand that educated people can disagree.
JesusMostHigh 2 years ago
Indeed, I am a Christian and I love reading all sorts of material. The Bible admonishes us to aswell. Alas, I am a Christian because Christianity is true. If it was false I would not be a Christian.

comes from pagan myth. Followers of Mithra practiced identical rituals as xtians. Pagans spoke in tongues. Mithras execution myth is the same as jesus's. There are many more.

You weren't specific about what quote you were asking about and you ramble incessantly. That's why I didn't answer. Sorry to break it to you but the vatican was built on the spot previously devoted to worhipping mithra. All the orthodox xtian rituals came from ancient myth. I've yet to meet a xtian that isn't a hypocrite.

>"I've yet to meet a xtian that isn't a hypocrite."
Two problems with this. First, it's a hasty generalization fallacy. Just because all the "Christians" you've met were hypocrites doesn't mean all existing Christians are. Secondly, this fails to tell us whether Christianity is true or not.
hawke123 2 years ago

hawke123 2 years ago

The onus of proof is on those making the absurd claims. There is no evidence for your imaginary friend. I'm not going to entertain that god is a duck, jesus rides a ufo or the grinch stole xmas. I could make up stories all day. It wouldn't be your job to prove them right or wrong. It would be mine. Does this make any sense to you? And the evidence of my claims about mithra are abundant.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
I never claimed you were a hypocrite. I pointing out that it's self contradictory to claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite. Why? Because you cited bible verses showing how xtians SHOULD behave. Therefore, you have contradicted your claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite.
hawke123 2 years ago
>claim that it is inherently impossible to be a xtian and not a hypocrite. Why?
I should rephrase. One could claim to be a xtian and be a hypocrite but it's not possible to be a perfect xtian according to the tenets. To be the xtian version of "christlike" is impossible for a human with normal human tendencies and traits.

Do you believe the bible to be correct?
Do you try to follow the bible?
Have you given away/sold all your possesions as the bible commands?
No your a hypocrite!
Remeber god frowns upon any wealth it makes it hard for you to get into heaven, so prove heaven is more important to you than wealth on earth and get rid of all possesions as your god commands.
But you wont, any salesman who doesnt believe in their own product like you is a fail!
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
Do I know you? No, didn't think so.
hawke123 2 years ago
So thats your excuse for not giving away all your posessions as the bible commands?
How do you expect us to believe when you obviously dont, because you deliberately disobey the bible!
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
It's called context. Any biblical exegesis book will tell you that. Honestly, if you're going to criticize Christians then please educate yourself regarding these matters.
hawke123 2 years ago
"Context" as in you dont want to hear what the bible says.
So can you please put in context,
Why he means bu give away all your posessions
and
where jesus says to bring the nonbelievers before him and kill them, put that in "context" please.
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
Would you cite the verses?
hawke123 2 years ago
Ah you dont know the verses, but you know its the context.... hmmm you cant claim features of somthign when you have no idea it is.
So when god tells the army to keep the virgin females for themselfs (Obviously for raping and slaves)
Could you put that in context?
Or The context when you god has rules on slavery?
The context when god orders them to kill the babies in womb, before killing hte pregnant woman?
My links to videos with the refernece if that will help you make excuses.
gorilla199uncensored 2 years ago
And the context for praising god with joy over being able to dash your enemies babies against the rocks. The idea that this stuff is divinely inspired is an insult to any real God out there. I remain open to there being a good God out there, but would not what to be found thinking poorly off him by assuming all that is in these writings comes from him.

>I never claimed the existence of God here.
Semantics. You clearly stated that you lean towards xtianity.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
> false non-sense
You're still displaying your lack of education. But what can I expect from someone who isn't sure about evolution? LOL.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
It is apparent that you do not care about the truth and instead prefer to use ad hominems and ridicule all day. This is evidenced by your refusal to cite your sources (because you have none). Yet you so arrogantly display your baseless assertions. Sir, you do your fellow atheists a huge disfavor.

It appears our subject has a plethora of psychological issues. It appears he cannot accept the fact that there are Christian individuals much more brilliant than he is.
It is utterly fascinating to see his devolution in this regard.
Let us probe this creature some more and wade through his irrationality and logical fallacies in order to better understand his cognitive disease.

jesusmosthigh has a plethora of psychological issues. He cannot accept the fact that there are no xtian individuals who are not delusional.

Your profile says you will shred my delusions and myths with science and logic. I'm still waiting for a link to a source to back up your claims. You do want to be rational and consistent, don't you?
hawke123 2 years ago
>It appears our subject has a plethora of psychological issues
Matthew 7:1-5 Judge not, that you be not judged.
Can you spell hypocrite? You can use the thesaurus you've been using this morning.

Observation of subject: Continued
It appears our subject is attempting to quote the Bible in order to absolve the fury from his intellectual superiors; even if that means taking verses out of context.
Our subject may either be:
1) Retreating like a coward
2) Indirectly asking for mercy
3) Medication is working
Let us continue to monitor his progress, whilst being cautious of his instability.
JesusMostHigh 2 years ago
>Retreating like a coward As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. Romans 14:1-13
LOL. Keep proving to us that you ignore the teachings of your religion. It really evidences how xtians are hypocrites.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
Observation of subject: Critical
Our subject appears to accuse others of what he is doing. This just further proves my point that the mentally ill are unable to recognize or come to terms with their own illness.
Our subject is attempting to put us under judgement by selectively quoting & decontextualizing the document he states his false.
Our subject appears to be dazed and confused as to how a Chrstian can be more intelligent, witty and humerous than he.
JesusMostHigh 2 years ago
> the mentally ill are unable to recognize or come to terms with their own illness.
every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, =Romans 2:1-3
Can you spell hypocrite?
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
So your real issue is Christians being hypocrites, not intellectual problems. I suspected as much. We'd love to welcome you if you would actually back up your claims and stop the insults. Will you accept my offer or spit in my face once again?
hawke123 2 years ago
Seriously. Why is it so hard for you to simply do a search with something like "jesus as a reincarnation of mithra?" Then you'll see a huge list of them. Do you actually doubt that the mithra myth existed? Plus a yt script makes it very hard to post a url.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
The problem with xtians goes far beyond their hypocrisy. Xtianity promotes sexism, racism, speciesism, homophobia, arrogance, intolerance and war. They hijack governments and try to push their bullshit onto everyone. Religions like xtianity and islam are the scourge of humanity.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago
All of those things you listed would go under a hypocrisy label. Clearly, "Christians" that do these things are obviously not Christians to begin with. You agree with me on this because you labeled these people as hypocrites (people who say one thing but act totally different). It would seem our observations are in sync.
hawke123 2 years ago
The burden of proof for extraordinary claims lies with the claimant. Hundreds claim to have seen Nessie. Photographs and video even exist (why are those always so blurry ;-)
Parthenogenesis, resurrection, and, even more bizarre - having been made (making himself) the scapegoat for all "sins" past present and future therewith saving (some of) humanity (not me, thank god) - is a wee bit further fetched than a plesiosaur preserved in a dark Scottish loch many miles away.

I never made any claims to Jesus' divinity here. If anyone here has been busy making groundless assertions it is the atheists.

"He who will not eat of my body and drink of my blood, so that he will be made on with me and I with him, the same shall not know salvation." - mithra
Sound familiar?

Cite a source please.
hawke123 2 years ago
Where's that source I asked for? Show the theist how deluded he is. Link me to a scholarly source for this quote.
hawke123 2 years ago
What quote god boy? Don't think hard to show your ignorance. You've done it over and over. You make claims like "education is the biggest enemy of atheism,." That is solid evidence you are delusional and grasping at straws. The fact is our places of higher learning are filled with atheists and our PRISONS are filled with ignorant xtians. lol.
TheStrangeRanger 2 years ago

That groundless assertion would be yours.

speaking of TV, wouldn't it be infinitely more impressive if god cut a documentary series with lee strobel or dr craig, than him turning water into wine before illiterate sheep herders in 1st century palestine?
god can do anything, right?
so why doesn't he knock up another virgin and start a myspace page?

so, how many documented eye witnesses of jesuses miracles are there? four? five hundred?
let's assume that the claims of many christian apologists are correct, that there were 500 eye witnesses of jusus ascending into heaven.
sathya sai baba has over one thousand LIVING eye witnesses to him performing miracles.
who should be believe, 500 supposed eye witnesses who lived 2000 years ago, or over 1000 contemporary eye witnesses?
sum1unxpected 2 years ago
That Christians were the first to have the gospels and the first writings about them we have may take them at face value is no more evidence of their being 100% historical than early Muslims who had the Koran seeing the angelic appearances to Muhammad as historic.
On the 2nd point, I know too much about material in Luke that appears readily literary rather than historic to treat the intro as evidence to the contrary. Many sacred texts CLAIM 2 b true. I wonder if the intro was in the original.
