Hello Mikey. I have french knitters like this. And may u suggest that the way you are supposed to cast off is one at a time. One over the other like you started then loop over Then go on to the the next one over the other then loop over and so on till you have one left then yarn over and pull through other wise you will break your tool. And it's too much strain on your work. I have always done it like this with no difficulty. At least try it to see for yourself. Love ya.
