  • Bravo. That was fantastic.

  • You made this while you were in high school? That is some talent.

  • I don't get why everyone getting so 'scared' over this. I think it's great, even if it's a few years old by now.

  • I hope you got an A on this. :)

  • Brilliant. Really brilliant. I sang this song during anti-war protests years ago and you totally captured its essence. All the best in your future. You're very talented.

  • I'm just getting into tclaymation - Any Advice?

  • It's creepy and I like it. Very nice job!

  • freaky

  • I thought it was gorgeous and really well made good job ^^

  • i can't believe people's mean comments about this. it is a unique work of art. i say 'bravo'.

  • hey do you know a "stand ability" called "stone free"??

it can have thread come out from figers too ^^

  • Having travelled to various 'places' and receiving a 'dear John' . This is beautiful.

  • Dude, that is just plain creepy...

  • @SenoraSempere Thank you for your comment on my high school sentimentality, I will instantly go back three years and correct myself.

  • @hazelfo Ur welcome, emo :D

  • @SenoraSempere

And thus why it's totally awesome. I hate mundanes. They never get art.

  • @Khirad lol ur a tweaker :p But whatever, to each their own opinion.

  • Love this video its so beautiful! I sang this for a competition about 6 months ago and I fell in love with the song!

  • lol this still scares me

  • You call that singin'? I don't think so!

  • @kypswei This isn't me singing. This is Lisa Stockton-Wilson (formerly Lisa Hammer) of the band 'Mors Syphilitica' singing.

  • @hazelfo WTF SHE CUTS HERSELF, IT WAS TOO SCARY TO WATCH FURTHER BUT NOW I FINISHED AND R U FREKIN SERIOUS

  • @Itachi476 What? It's not scary. It's just a doll with big eyes.

  • @hazelfo im telling you she scares me

  • omg this is creepy i watched this before, this gives me nightmares, im so scared to go to sleep because of you...hazelfo, sorry it took me a little to see the name

  • frightening, like losing Johnny killed her, and now she's a friggin' banshee!

  • that doll is scary, seriouslly

  • Your work was so beautiful esp for a high school student, it brought tears to my eyes. You are gifted and inspired.

  • Thanks so much! I'm working on another one right now, hopefully this will be beautiful for a university student.

  • This video is really cool. What an imagination and such artistry.

  • I'm singing this for a competition in a few weeks.

  • good luck! :)

  • I had to sing this song at school two years ago it was such a sad song it almost made me cry but i loved singing this

  • im scare *shaking*

  • I'm probably reading too much into this but have you seen the movie May with Angela Bettis? Her character is pretty morbid & your doll reminds me of the doll May owns. There are also some other things in your animation that could reference the movie but I don't want to give anything away!

  • No, I haven't seen the film as far as I know. I'll check it out!

  • This video is kinda creepy

  • creepy and cool at the same time :) good vid!

  • we're singing it in chorus too. its a good song but that doll is creepy as hell.

  • we're singing this in Choir :)

  • we are too

  • when i was in choir we sang this song at competion and won 1st place.

  • Us too !!!!!!

  • were singin this song for choir!!!!

  • AH! good.... amazing BUT DEPRESSING AS HELL!

  • Hi Hazel, we friended each other ages ago. Just dropping back to watch your stuff again. Really amazing how it was put together, you must be patient! I had to smile at your statement in the comments section that you are "vocally pro choice". Thats one way of putting it! Cheers Elaine.

  • that was sooooo great!!! now i finally understand the song i cannot believe your not famous!

  • hey hazel. this is cecilia. this is amazing.

  • hazelbird i love you, im studying for my crap final and i came upon this again. pretty nifty stuff i'll play it on the radio again in a month or so

  • superb

  • Some directing is not so well and try to use more FPS rate next time. But, for the first time animation, this is more then good. 5/5 from me.

  • Thanks. I was using hardware store wire instead of armature wire, and iMovie will only let you use about 10 FPS (I didn't have a better program at the time.) I've used better materials since then and it's much smoother.

  • dude...you GOTTA post a tutorial on how to do this! its friggin amazing!!! mad props!!!

  • There are stop motion tutorials on the internet, and besides I'm only an amateur.

  • Very Scary.

    But Excellent!

We hd to sing this song in choir.

    Sad song.

  • This is amazing!

  • Thanks!

  • Congrats, wonderfull work. Especially for

    'condensing' the woman's caracter down

to its essentials; leaving everything away,

except what is needed for the 'story'.

America still has someting good to give....

  • I think the 'condensing' was more of a time constraint than a thought-out thing! But I'll take it as a compliment.

  • Well, I meant, that you put away the

    womans non needed details, and

    instead show the important elements

    like the gestures, those

black roses, and of course the dress

changing from white to red in order

to show what is going on. Impressive.

That's what art is about...I think.

  • we r singing this song in choir

  • so are we for contest on the 25th!!!

  • Wow, this puppet (or doll or whatever, I'm laic) looks wonderful! So full of expression! I think she has empty eyes 'cause she cried them out for her love and now she's hollow inside... Nice :D

  • Great work man, but i will say that she is soooooo creepy.... i dont blame johnny for leaving her lol. Great work!

  • im with you she is ass creepy as all hell

  • Agreed. Creepy, but powerfull. the lyrics are incredible though.

  • i think its abit over produced. its actually from the campaign between england and france in the 17th century. and then the american civil war.

  • Over produced?

The Irish have a history of being co-opted into fighting other peoples' wars. This song is apt for both periods of time.

  • not the video, the song. i heard a folk version that was alot more stripped down, and for me it emphasised the lyrics more, this version sounds like the lift music to heaven thats all. indeed they are, first england, then the confederates. i was just emphasisin it was english thats all.

  • I love Mors Syphilitica so much. Thanks for your hard work in making such a piece of art to match their transcendent lugubriousness! Btw, the black flowers blooming was a great visual interlude - worked a little in foreshadowing too methinks - or do I over-interpret?

  • im a dude but it made me cry o_e

  • This made me cry lol.Its really god i love this song

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks! I'm glad you like it.

  • we sung this song for a chorus concert

we got such great reviews its such a good

    song i love it

i love what you done with the stop motion also

  • I love he animation in this, I love these kind of songs

  • Thanks! If you like music like this, listen to other music by Mors Syphilitica. They were an amazing band!

  • how did you get the red on the dress.

  • I used red paint. For the blood moving down the dress, I painted the dress a little bit for each frame.

  • what was the wheel made from and what is the purpose of it?

  • The wheel was made from cardboard and was held to the cardboard barn with a straightpin. From a storytelling point of view the wheel is mentioned once in the song and I wanted to set the scene, and from a cinematic point of view I wanted to have something moving in the background so it wouldn't be boring.

  • what made you want to give the doll a gloomy exspression with no eyes.

  • Well it's just the expression that I'm drawn to. I also made several faces with the intent to lip sync the doll to the song. However, this didn't work out, and I was stuck with the same face.

  • we r singing this song in chorus in 3 parts its beautiful. the way we sing it anyway. this version is a little faster. its still good tho

  • what was the purpose of the black roses?

  • I thought they'd look nice and I wanted to animate something besides the puppet, which was very cumbersome and hard to move.

  • I like all of you animation. It's really good , I generally likr this king od stuff. The Nightmare Before Chrismas one of my favorite movies. What does you being pro-chiose have to do with it ?

  • Thanks, and it doesn't have anything to do with it. I just thought that you had subscribed to me because I am pretty vocally pro-choice. But I'm glad you like my work.

  • amazing how do you do this?

    :D

  • It's a process called stop-motion animation. I made a small puppet out of clay and wire and for every frame I moved the puppet by hand. Films such as "The Nightmare Before Christmas", "Corpse Bride", and the "Wallace and Gromit" films use the same process.

  • this is kewl :D

  • Thanks!

  • nice idea to go with one of the many grand songs by this band.

  • Thanks! And all of Mors Syphilitica's songs are grand.

  • this vid is hackin greatness

  • Thanks!

  • lisas husband did the venture brothers

  • Yes... I'm extra-aware.

  • I just wanted to let you know that I think you are very talented young woman. If not for your video I would never have listened to Mors Syphlitica's music. Now I find I like their music. It's not a genre that I would normally listen to. Thanks for enlightening me.

  • Thank you very much! And I'm glad you like Mor Syphilitica.

  • I just happened upon your video. Excellent. Original. And, yes, creepy, which shows your capability to elicit emotional response through the video medium. When I was in high school, I was socially ostracized for any nonconformist behavior, which stifled my creativity and intuition. DON'T LET THIS HAPPEN TO YOU! Go boldly wherever you dare!

  • Thank you!

  • Thanks! So are you :)

  • good vid good animation. but the animation got creapy looking. im not trying to ofend you. but I could never make that. A++++++

  • I'll take that as a compliment. Thanks!

  • looks like Guarra of the sand

  • This is one of my favorite songs but I'd never heard it sung like this. It's not what I'm used to, but it is cool.

  • Lisa Hammer has an amazing voice. Look up her and the band Mors Syphilitica, they are amazing.

  • Fucking amazing. That gave me chills. Coolest thing ever? Chyeah.

  • Thank you! I'll be making more this summer.

  • woah this was amazing!! we did this song for MPAS wonder stop motion love the idea,,i wish i was this creative! :D

  • Haha, thanks!

  • adorable. really, it is.

i was honestly hoping to find lisa and eric but looks like you got to thier song first.

    keep up the good work.

  • Sadly there are very few official music videos for Mors Syphilitica.

  • OMG i have to admit that was awesome, i think you should make more videos they would no doubt be great

  • Thank you! I will be making more videos this summer.

  • yeah i have to sing this for choir too.

    different verion too. lol

we sing it lower i think.

    whatever, haha great job.

    A+ !

  • I have to sing this songg in choir.

    This a different version!

    Lol.

I added this to my favorites=]

    <33

  • Thanks!

  • Do you know this video is on Mors Syphilitica's MySpace?

  • Yes! I saw it when I checked what linked to this page. Thanks though!

  • I'd really like to see more of your work. Fantastic song...amazing vid...

  • I remember you! We talked about Mors Syphilitica on Soulseek a long time ago. I'm glad you like my animation!

  • wow amazing

  • Thanks!

  • when are you going to make more

  • Well currently I am very busy but I hope to be in production by this summer.

  • Firstly, high school? -And you have excellent taste in music?! Usually I see lame anime amv's done to my favorite bands. This was brilliant - it fit perfectly. Thanks for making my day. It's so rare I get to say that without any sarcasm! Don't ever let anyone make fun of you for being weird!

  • Thanks! Yeah, I hate mashup anime music videos too.

  • I hope you have thought of going into the director's field. I got a big vibe from this vid. I like how the flowers were black like they were dead, but they were blooming. It made me think that for her, Death would be the beginning because as far as she was concerned, her life had already ended.

  • Thanks so much! I'm planning on making more films very soon.

  • Excellent, a remarkably expressive puppet, the animation style fitted the music brilliantly (or is that vice versa). I particularly liked the tracking shots, how did you achieve those?

  • Thanks. For the tracking shots, I moved the tripod a little bit for each frame. It was painstaking.

  • I loved the video! Very creative. I love this song... and Mors Syphilitica :) Have any videos for "Ungrateful Girl"?

  • do you have any video of "requiem in white"? please let me know!!!!!!!

  • Well I do love Requiem in White but I don't know of any videos, official or unofficial.

  • Very creative video, great work. I love this song and pay a fingerstyle version on my guitar. I'll check out the band. Keep it up.

  • Whoa.... creepy.

  • I guess.

  • Sorry, had to come back to see it again. I'm putting this one in my vault of favorites.

  • whoa!!!!! i did this song for my choirs region compatition! i have NEVER heard it like this! it is great

  • Look up Mors Syphilitica! They are an amazing band.

  • This is a very good video. Kinda creppy. ;D

I had to sing this for choir.

    You did a great job!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow, that was great! It sort of reminds me of the same sort of animation used in a few of Tool's videos, but this was cooler than any Tool video I've ever seen... that, and Mors Syphilitica is one of my favorite bands. I saw them live about four years ago and it's a show I won't easily forget. Good job on the video, it matched the song perfectly.

  • Thank you! I wish I could have seen them live.

  • I saw Mors Syphilitica during their "Feather And Fate" tour, in a club in Salt Lake City, Utah; the club isn't there anymore, but the memories of that concert haunt me still. It was indeed an honor to have spoken to and heard their live show. I can tell you with all certainty that their beautifully crafted laments of heart will be the things of the most beautiful dreams for years to come.

  • I found this morbidly delightful and morosely wonderful.

  • Thanks!

  • It's beautiful. Amazing!

  • Thank you!

  • I love the song and I love this... great job ..

  • Thanks!

  • beautiful... but I think it would be better if you put primrose instead of this song XD

  • I will say that Primrose is a better song but I don't think it would have fit.

  • tim burton and edward gorey would be proud

  • Haha, thank you!

  • This was an amazing band.

One of my TRUE favorites. THank you for making this video.

Amazing video for an amazing song.

I am sure they treaure it.

  • Thank you so much!

  • Hey, now that's cool. Hazelfo, your attitude and the slight fraction of your personality I'm familiar with reflects the mood and style of this video quite well. Very easily can I picture a person like you to make something like this, that's funny.

  • Haha, I love the beginning part with the hand. Scared the fuck out of me.

  • Too many people have told me that it's scared them... Sorry about that.

  • This video is fantastic! Especially for an amateur! If this great piece of art was your first animation I could only imagine what you'd be capable of when you gain more experience!=) I also think it's terrific that you chose this song so more people will gain awareness of this music! You rule!

  • Thank you so much!

  • do u have more mors syphilitica songs? i love their songs especially the hues of longing and all lisa hammer's song. i also like requiem in white. but i cant find their album here in my country. can you send me some? tnx!!!

    hope to see you soon!!!

  • very nice. Mors Syphilitica is one of my favorite bands, I love that song

  • WOW!!! very impactful

  • excelent job keep it up =)

  • That is absolutely amazing! Good job! You've definitely got some talent here! :)

  • Thank you!

  • suh-weet.

  • you did a stunning job love, I knew you could do it.

    Im so proud of you!

  • <3 Thanks

  • Wow. This is some beautiful work.

  • Thank you!

  • I mean Thank you, not than you. Excellent!

  • Thank you for making such beautiful music.
