You're great, looking forward to more. Quick question? I'm attempting to solo one track on the quarter note while building up to my break down. Any suggestions? I assume I'd send the tracks to a bus/stereo out then send that to another bus then put the effects on from there? Not sure the best way to go about doing it or if I should send my entire breakdown to a bus. Thanks in advance - also I seem to lose compression when I send my tracks to a bus with a compressor any suggestions?
@hollywoodblow thanks for your interest in my stuff! gonna need clarification on your questions to help you out - you're looking to put some effects on just one beat of one track before you get to your breakdown section? if so - no need to bus, just use insert effects on that track and automate them to kick in only for that beat (use bypass automation to bring it in and out). as for losing compression going to a bus, there are a number of different reasons for that, it depends on how its set up
@willpostmusic figured it out was wondering best methods to save my cpu - to clarify I have 24 active tracks and would like to apply the same effect to 23 on every quarter note over 15 seconds. I just stereo'd 23 tracks out to a bus then applied effects to it. I'm really interested in my second question though applying compression on a bus.
@hollywoodblow i often use bus compression, like when i send all my drums to a bus and compress it, or send my backing vocals to a bus to compress them. if you're losing compression, first thing to look at is the threshold of the compressor on the bus, tweak this first to control when the compression kicks in. then you can tweak the ratio (how much compression is applied) and the attack and release settings. how bout i'll go over bus compression on my next tutorial?
@willpostmusic did that it's mainly for the sidechain but I think I may have also figured it out, I need to send more signal to the bus. In terms of tutorial, up to you, I think I'm on the advanced side so I'd be interested in tutorials like the one above or post mixing which is often the secret ingredients. I haven't released anything yet because I'm still challenged with getting the body of the track to sound full and less "trebly" thanks either way and if you provide feedback I'll send some.
Sick vid! Did you spend a crazy amount of cash on all your pluggins?
