You should replace that heater I returned two after my tank was never holding temp. Get you a quality 50 watt heater and don't chance it to that POS. Tank looks great.
Awesome tank, congrats. Amazing what you can get to grow in a small tank if you are spot on with water changes and quality. Got a small sponge growing in my edge and its doing quite well. Hope mine can look like this one day!
Hey man love your tank, how do you keep the sand so clean? Mine has been running for bout 6-8 months and its got algae on the sand and back of the glass...is the normal?
I have the same tank and one koralia nano power head. So far i have one clown fish, hes still a juvenile. Im scared to turn on the power head because it seems like its just surfing and having trouble getting to the other side. Am i just paranoid and he has to get used to it or should i wait for him to grow up a bit.
@dstruong86 ohhh myyy goddd..... that is my far the nicest fluval edge tank i will .e.v.e.r. see in my lifeee!@!@!@!@ omfggg wherd u get teh coral from wow u couldnt of done anything better well done great job!
Hey i was just curious as to which filters you have in the tank and i was thinking of getting a goby, a clown fish and maybe a Diadema Dottyback got any tips? thanks much aprecitated.
@ElectroHouseBeatsOne i have the stock filter minus the bioballs plus a poly filter. if you plan of having that many fish, i would recommend having water movement throughout your tank.
You know your onions as we say here!!! The goby died within a week! A costly and sad mistake! Can you suggest anyother type of fish? The tank seems really happy and established now, all the corals and worms etc seem to be growing well...but I would love another fish!
@superscobes ouch, sorry for your loss, mandarin gobies are sweet. they are although, fairly difficult fish to keep and need a VERY well established tank, hopefully being the last fish to be added. mandarins, dragonets, all are pretty difficult. the common, easy to keep gobies most people refer to are of the clown goby family. try those, they are very small, but pretty interesting little buggers. I think bottom dwellers are the coolest haha
That's brilliant, my tank seems all very stable so think I will risk a 2nd fish, thinking about a mandarin goby, and possibly flashing clam also...hope they will b fine! Thank you for you advice, invaluable !
@superscobes goby's don't move around very much, so they produce less waste! good luck with your tank. Make sure you get a poly filter as i found it to be one of the most valuable assets for the edge.
@superscobes Hey, It's a little late but I would do a different kind of goby than a mandarin if i were you. They really don't do to well in small tanks and need a tank that's been established for a long time so they can eat all the copapods and such. Good luck man!!!!
how long have you had all the fish in? i was first advised it was impossible to do a marine tank in such a small tank...then advised only one fish was sensible! Are you having any problems with the waste product levels, and how often to to add new water? Does look great!
water movement is the key to keeping a tank clean. I have absolutely no dead spots in my tank. all waste goes right into the filter. I have no algae growth either. My nitrate levels were at 10-20 before i added a poly filter. Since than, (3 months ago) my nitrates stay around 0-5. I do weekly 2 gallon water changes that keeps the water fresh and everyone happy.
Hey, Great tank, mine is in infancy but hope to have it looking like yours some day.... out of interest at the end when your lid is off there is something extra in the filter... looks green?! just wondering what you are using in the filter? is it the stock carbon? because thats what I am using at the moment!
Hi dstruong86 thanks for reply. I siliconed plastic over the LED's to avoid water hitting them. Any suggestions? are yours 3W? may have been a bad batch of bulbs
Mate what watage are your MR16's? I used MR16, 3W, 12V...48 SMD LED's and they both blew in approx 10 mins? Did you use any kind of resistor to regulate current?
jjeeve5.....Yes you just push the MR16's in to the sockets. Be aware that when you do this you stretch the pin holes and may not be able to go back to MR11
Your tank is amazing. I'm going to purchase one next month. My 1st attempt at a saltwater tank. Was hoping in the end to get a couple of clownfish, 2 red curry shrimp and a green tip anemone. Can you you or anyone recommend lighting for the anemone and if it's even a possible setup?
Luv it, excellent looking edge , I've had mine set up tropical for about 12 months but I've just stripped it and bought all upgrades required for marine . I was wondering how long to have lights on per day (White 6500k and blue led for moonlight ) any help or advice would be much appreciated cheers.
@lj22ss the temp stays a constent 77-78 degree's. I have a fan that i installed to keep the tank cool when the lights are on. Before the fan, temps rose to 84-85 degrees. Hope that helps.
the link to the blue led strips no longer works, do you recall the brand name or product name?
