My baby beardie hasn't pooped in two days and won't poop in the warm water, should I keep soaking it for a couple of days or take it to a vet immediately?
Aww, they are so cute! Baths are a great idea for bearded dragons. It helps them shed, keeps them hydrated, gives them exercise, and they usually poop in the water, which = less/no poop in thier cage to clean! My beardie, Gunner, loves baths! When she was little, I think the baths used to stress her out a little bit, but I always made sure to watch her closely and let her grab on to my hand if she appeared to be stressed out, this made her feel much safer and in time, she began to love bathtime!
they stop pooping and eating. after thy poo you can see what caused the impaction. sand and calcisand sometimes causes them especially in young dragons.
You don't want the water too high so that they have to swim to keep their heads above the water. Like I saw your baby doing. But it's not too much of a deal because it had a sponge to cling on to :)
My beardy is going to the vet today to be checked out because of a impaction, i don't know what is going to happen to my beardy she is only 3 years old.
I'm very upset :(
Anyway, your beardy's look very cute a happy couple
If you have a beardy or any reptile you know that you want them to have the best life they can possibly have, right? Well if you use paper towel or something like that your reptile might live longer but it's not the sort of environment it would have out in the wild. I think it is better to use sand and give your reptile the closest thing to the real thing, without letting it free. Even if that involves risks.
My beardy if doing fine now. It wasn't impaction =)
thats fine im not argueing with u but you can get some natural looking sand colored tile and tile last a lot longer that sand and its cheaper or u can have sand in the tank and feed in a different container thats what i use to do
Well, I don't know about in America, because I'm Australian. But here, the live in the SAND dunes... So over here sand is a huge part of their natural habitat.
beardies mostly occur in the dry semi arid grasslands of alice springs, and semi wooded foothills of western australia. Not so much the sand ridden style of deserts. A LOT of beardies die of impaction in the wild as well.
We also aren't meant to live much longer than 30yrs. technology has allowed us to prolong our lives not nature. again evolution isn't perfect, its a process. it took billions of years for life to even evolve in the first place.

you gotta remember theyre are beardies from different parts of Australia. And the habbitats are different.
Have you ever noticed how some ppl say sand is fine, some say tiles etc...coz there is more than 1 method to keep beardies. Just relax everyone!

Yes I do, this is what I believe.

Sorry If I sounded like I was arguing. I didn't mean it =] And sure your idea is better in the long run.

Not to be argumentative, but sand isn't actually part of their natural habitat at all.

@evrae205 to think they would have evolved before they went to the desert

@xxuncexx
Medical defects such as this are a natural form of population control.
A better evolved GI tract is not nessecary for thiem to propogate.
Evolution isn't a perfect process if it was there would be way more life forms than the ecosystem could support.
