This song is a work of brilliance on so many levels. It works as a modern day protest song (Joan Baez eat your heart out) against all that has been deliberately set up against modern democracies and it serves as a warning against what might be with a view into the past. Then it offers hope for all those that see that we could all be as one if we really want to be.

Beautiful song , by writers who knew it's lyrics would spark controversy...as a writer, nothing in a song is better than that. Dylan knew it and used it often. I doubt they wrote the lyrics meaning that they actually believed all the lyrics to be gospel; but they need to rhyme or fit. I love this band just for being great..and God minded..
