  • Question, I've never played any of the old school FF games before, now I don't hate turn based but I prefer a battle system found in the Tales (Tales of the abyss, Vesperia, and such) and I only really played FF8,X-2, and FF13. Now I didn't like 13 that much since you weren't really in control of the combat so you were pretty much only watching instead of playing. Now, would a newbie to these kind of games enjoy it?Can someone give me some insight on this? I would like a good game on the go.

  • @McNillan When it comes to old school FFs, 6 is the best and 4 comes second. 6 is ported to GBA with some minor flaws, like slowdown during combat and the music is butchered, but the translation is more accurate. If you happen to have a DS, try the remake of 4. It's a nice remake with great graphics(for a 3D DS game), revamped combat system and VA. But be warned... FF4 DS is one of the hardest game on the DS! In later dungeons random encounters can easily one-shot your characters...

  • @McNillan If you happen to prefer highly detailed sprites over low-detail polygon models, go for FF4 psp. I did not played it, but i heard the difficulty is much lower and remains more true to the original in terms of gameplay.

  • hmm this makes the wii version obsolete :P
