Balance issues, phrasing could be better, but all in all I don't think it's as bad as many of you are saying. The phrasing is a problem, but it is very difficult to execute in this particular piece. The temptation is to just try to play the melody louder than these huge arpeggios and lose the sense of phrase while you're switching your hands. The first cadenza was great, the second could be faster, and the third needs work. All in all, I enjoyed listening, though.
This pianist has a very very very bad taste toward this piece. His arpeggios are way way way toooooo loud from the very beginning. What is wrong with him? Doesn't any of his friends or teachers tell him that?
@mdoub: when you mess up you just keep going, you don't try to fix it, and he kept doing that, it was almost distracting because I know how its supposed to sound. His arpeggios are way too loud, I can barely distinguish the melody over them. I think he played 2:05 - 2:58 pretty well, and 4:40 - 5:10 wasn't too bad: those sections saved the performance. And he played the unrevised ending (and too fast)... boo
I don't see why you received thumbs down btw... silly youtube users.
a bad performance

OK, it is too loud, but still well played, it is a very hard piece. He can easily adjust.

definitely a bad example of this song. The guy is a great player, but just couldn't nail everything.

Clearly a virtuosic work, executed beautifully.
